Captaincy selection is absolutely vital to SuperCoach success.
Across the course of the season, thousands of places can be made up simply in selecting the right man to wear the armband.
And while often there may be an obvious choice (Payne Haas….), this creates enormous opportunity to pick a POD skipper to gain ground on rivals.
Importantly, unique captaincy selection can aid head-to-head players in making up quick points if they find themselves behind in a match-up.
Here’s who we like for Round 5.

SAFETY FIRST
Payne Haas (CTW/FLB)
Haas is going to be here every week. Everyone knows what he brings, I won’t dribble on.
He didn’t play the full 80 minutes last week but still managed over 80 with a bunch of offloads.
Damien Cook (HOK)
Over the last two games against the Roosters and Storm, Cook is averaging 66PPG with 53BPG.
The dry day game against the Titans will really suit Cook and he could go huge for the 13% of people that own him.
Cook played the Titans only once last year for a score of 54, but that should be his floor for the upcoming game.
HIGH CEILING OPTIONS
Tom Trbojevic (FLB)
Turbo can go bigger than anyone and everyone is eyeing him off this week against the Broncos.
Everything is pointing to Turbo having another big game after a respectable 62 point game last week.
He will be one of the most popular VC choices this week.
Depending on your bench situation, consider captaining him straight up.
James Tedesco (FLB)
Teddy has been named after a late withdrawal from a game he would have easily scored over 100.
This week he comes up against the Bulldogs, the team Turbo put 152 points on in Round 3.
Last year he played the Bulldogs once and scored 99 points. Surely he goes into triple digits on the weekend.
In my opinion, Teddy is the best choice captain this week for the 22% of people that own him.
Kalyn Ponga (FLB)
After a massive 159 point game against the Raiders last week, many people are doubting whether Ponga can do it again against the Storm.
The stats show Ponga scores quite well against the Storm, averaging 81 against them.
He also put on his third best score ever of 117 points against the Storm.
It would still take a brave man to go against the Turbo and Teddy matchups.
Cameron Munster (5/8)
Munster scored 90 points and 76 points since the season restarted.
He continues to look dangerous and will be a regular captain choice.
Last year he put 91 points on the Knights and he still has a very low ownership of 12%.
I think there are better options this week given how tough the Knights have been recently in defence.
Latrell Mitchell (CTW/FLB)
Latrell has really impressed me since the season resumed with a respectable 51 and 71 points.
The points are decent, but his attitude and fitness are the reason I believe he is a captain choice against the Titans.
In his only game against the Titans last year he scored 118, albeit in a different team and different position.
Souths coming off the back of some tough losses will welcome back Walker which should enhance his game.
CONSENSUS
I will either be captaining Turbo straight up on Thursday night or bringing in Latrell to captain.
If I owned Teddy I would captain him.
