Greetings all, and as this is the last article I will do before Christmas please let me take the time to wish you a merry Christmas and a happy New Year.

Here are some guns players to consider and avoid for the upcoming rounds.

Guns to Target

Ben McDermott (Hurricanes)

Huge! After a slightly delayed start to the BBL he has looked sharp this tournament when given his chance.

He has been batting up the order in that number three role and has looked magnificent in his two innings thus far where he scored 46 off 33 and then backed it up making 89 not out off 55.

Now he doesn’t have the schedule in his favour with Hobart already having their double game round, however, a player in a purple patch is usually a good place to start when making SuperCoach trades.

Additionally, some wicket-keepers have proven inconsistent with their scoring and McDermott has not produced a stinker yet!

Mohammed Nabi (Renegades)

Now, I might be going a tad early here, but the international all-rounder is back playing and needs to be considered in your BBL side.

He batted at number five and made 14 runs and then bowled three overs in his first game back.

When he hit form last season he finished with scores of 155 and 166 SC points. As we know that all-rounder game is vital for SuperCoach scoring.

Hopefully he hits form by the time the Renegades have their Round 6 double.

Just check for information regarding his availability with Afghanistan playing some international cricket later on in the tournament.

Ben Dwarshuis (Sixers)

Bounced back to earth when going wicketless last outing. His form before that was very nice taking 4/13 and 3/38.

He can bowl early on or at the death and he looks like one you want for that Round 6 double that the Sixers have.

Dan Christian (Sixers)

Wow, let us take a minute to appreciate what he did last round.

The Sixers were on the ropes when he came to the crease at 3/58 in the 12^th over and he completely changed the momentum of the match in an instant.

He went whack whack and scored the second fastest BBL 50 of all time.

He then showed his all-rounder qualities when he bowled four economical overs and picked up a wicket after the Strikers made a fantastic start to their dig.

This effort backs up his performance in Round 1 when he picked up three wickets against the Hurricanes and made 10 runs with limited opportunity.

An all-rounder who has the potential to contribute with bat and ball is a valuable addition to your SuperCoach side.

I have seen some people not so keen because of the uncertainty of where he will be batting.

Additionally, the Sixers have depth in the bowling line up and he may not be a guarantee to bowl his four overs.

But, he has performed well in two out of three matches and that is a pretty good ratio!

The Round 6 double only enhances his appeal.

Guns to Avoid

Marcus Stoinis (Stars)

Usually a SuperCoach gun, he is not someone you want in your side this week.

I would want to see him bowling again to increase his point scoring potential, but also he is having some extra time off over the festive period and will miss the Stars match on Boxing day to spend some extra time with family.

Alex Hales (Thunder)

He absolutely smoked them towards the end of last campaign after initially struggling early on. He could be repeating that pattern this year.

He has struggled with two ducks in his last two games. I would be looking for some more form before purchasing.

James Pattinson (Renegades)

James Pattinson has the ability to bowl express and take wickets in the shorter form of the game.

However, do not pick him in your BBL side as he is busy with Test duties in the Australian squad.

Sean Abbott (Sixers)

One of the leading wicket-takers in the BBL. Usually he would be one to consider for your sides, but not on this occasion.

He initially withdrew from the first Test squad due to injury, but has rushed down to Melbourne to avoid border closure complications and looks set to join in some training in the Test set up provided his calf injury has healed.
