Thommo Aitken
2019 SuperCoach BBL overall champion
Last year's SuperCoach BBL champion Thommo Aitken eyes the players who are ready to finish the year with a bang.
Gun ShowThere’s one more round to go of the regular BBL season following a hectic, crazy, exciting campaign. It’s been everything we suspected really.
It’s a slightly different article for me this one. Instead of looking at the big boys and the guns, because lots of us have them in our sides or know who we want in our sides, we are going to quickly explore a different topic.
In what will be the last game of the season for some players we are going to be looking for a different type of player.
I’ll take a look at the players who have possibly not produced their best game of the season and could go big in the final round.

Khawaja has a highest score of 49 so far this tournament. Whilst he’s been getting dismissed cheaply in some games, in others he has looked in reasonable touch.
His best BBL score is 109 not out and he is too good a player to not get a 50 in this style of tournament. His final game is at Adelaide Oval which looks like a batters paradise, so hopefully he can go big!
Callum Ferguson (Thunder)
Ferg is all to familiar with Adelaide Oval where he’ll wrap up his regular season campaign. After a lean patch he looked better last game making 42 in that monster Thunder total against the Sixers.
His highest score so far is 61 not out and he is a reasonable chance to better that with two knocks at Adelaide against a side who is missing their trump card in the form of Rashid Khan.

It’s been a remarkably consistent season for Lynn. He only has one score under 20 thus far.
For as good as he has been, it is a little surprising that his highest score is only 69 and that was in the opening stages of this tournament.
He has one final game at the batter friendly Adelaide Oval with the Heat needing a win to secure a finals birth. It has the makings of a Lynn special.
Sandeep Lamichhane (Hurricanes)
The figures of 2/24 are his best this campaign. He has taken three wickets multiple times in seasons prior. He plays his final game at the MCG, a ground he knows well because he is a former Stars player.
These games are against the Sixers, who may have their eyes already focused on finals and against the last placed Renegades. Could he take a bag?
Jake Weatherald (Strikers)
He was back opening last game with Alex Carey and I expect that will be their combination for the rest of the BBL. He made a quick fire 36 before being dismissed.
He made 68 not out earlier in the tournament, but with a final game on that Adelaide Oval deck could he get his highest score for the tournament against a Thunder attack missing Daniel Sams? He has made big hundreds on that ground before!
Fawad Ahmed (Scorchers)
The final regular season game for the Scorchers is against the Heat. The Heat have always been a little suspect against spin bowling and Fawad already has a good performance of 3/25 against them earlier in the month. If the Heat went after him for quick runs, could he deliver his best performance of the year?

Max seems to continually get starts but is unable to convert them into big scores, with plenty of 20s and 30s. He only has a high score of 40 and will be playing in that important game for the Heat at Adelaide Oval.
Aaron Finch (Renegades)
We all know he is out of touch and has underdelivered this tournament with the bat. He’s at a ridiculous price and we know he will be looking for one last hurrah this tournament.
