Indigenous v Maori All Stars: SuperCoach stat breakdown

The Indigenous All Stars v Maori All Stars clash dished up the first major NRL action of the 2021 season.

Scores were locked at 10-10 at fulltime, and we were able to gain some significant SuperCoach insights from key players heading into Round 1.

We’ve taken a look at a few of the relevant SuperCoach players to see how they performed.

While there was plenty of feeling in the clash, the numbers should only be used as a guide on assisting your team selection with trials often failing to get maximum output out of a number of players.

INDIGENOUS ALL STARS

Latrell Mitchell – 40 points in 64 minutes

Statistically it was a pretty standard night for Latrell, kicking two goals and setting up a try.

His base stats were poor, running just five times and busting two tackles in another show of his reliance on attacking points to lift his scoring.

Blake Ferguson – 39 points in 70 minutes

Fergo’s output was fairly solid as usual, running 12 times for 121 metres and busting two tackles.

Cody Walker – 45 points in 80 minutes

Walker had some promising signs in the clash, registering two linebreak assists, four runs, one forced drop out and two tackles busts.

Jamal Fogarty – 21 points in 68 minutes

Fogarty’s base was poor, running just twice in the clash and making 12 tackles.

It should be noted he did kick a penalty goal, while Titans teammate Patrick Herbert kicked for the Maori side.

Andrew Fifita – 60 points in 55 minutes

Fifi was the big talking point out of the game from a SuperCoach perspective. He appeared more agile than last season where he was clearly hampered by injury.

He got through 55 minutes which was a terrific sign. He had 12 runs, 29 tackles, four tackle breaks and three offloads.

That’s getting back to Fifita of old, so if he looks fit and healthy in the Sharks trial then starts in Round 1 he could be a huge play at $398,600.

David Fifita – 52 points in 62 minutes

The signs were also promising for David Fifita who had 16 runs, 17 tackles, six tackle breaks and an offload.

Zac Saddler – 32 points in 33 minutes

Young Saddler was busy in limited time on ground, running seven times for 61m, busting three tackles and making 16 tackles.

Brian Kelly – 8 points in 42 minutes

Kelly’s output was very limited in his 42 minutes on ground.

MAORI ALL STARS

Patrick Herbert – 20 points in 80 minutes

Herbert kicked goals which would give him some SuperCoach relevance if taking the tee at the Titans.

His output was ordinary though, running just seven times, busting two tackles, and making five.

James Fisher-Harris – 46 points in 68 minutes

JFH was solid in big game time, producing 16 runs, 23 tackles, two tackle breaks and an offload.

Jordan Riki – 64 points in 60 minutes

Riki was another huge SuperCoach talking point out of the clash, scoring a try with a linebreak in a strong outing.

Considering the decent minutes his output wasn’t great. He had nine runs for 71m, 18 tackles and five tackle breaks.

Joe Tapine – 44 points in 39 minutes

Tapine was busy in limited time, producing eight runs, 15 tackles, one offload and two tacklebreaks.
