Draft Breakdown: Waiver-wire targets, Rd 6

Every week I will be looking at players still available in 65% of leagues. There may be better options still available in your league, but this article will be focusing on the players that are likely to be available in most leagues.

Last week was a good round for us on the waiver-wire with only Wright letting us down.

We’ve enjoyed a couple of weeks with big blow outs due to the matchups which resulted in high SuperCoach Scores.

I suspect this week may produce lower SuperCoach points due to matchups, while there are less players that are capable of hitting a high score on the waiver-wire.

WAIVER-WIRE TARGETS

Jesse Ramien (CTW)

Ramien has been a frustrating CTW since his breakout year of 2017 where he averaged 74PPG.

He may not ever get to those heights again, but he has continued to show potential with the ball in hand.

A big issue for him in the past has been the way the Knights and Sharks used him, giving him very little ball.

Townsend appears to know how to use Ramien quite well, giving him early ball and allowing him to rack up the tackle busts and base stats.

He is a great pickup at least until SJ returns.

Adam Keighran (5-8/HFB)

The Roosters have had a serious number of hookers go down injured which means Keighran is likely to play decent minutes in the middle until they get some hookers healthy.

Although it’s a tough match-up against the Storm, if you are weak in the halves you could do worse than to have someone that is going to get a decent base.

If Keighran is named on the bench ignore all of the above as it’s not worth the risk on how many minutes he plays.

Jack Murchie (2RF)

Murchie scored 72 points last week with 46 points coming from base.

He is another short-term waiver option until the Warriors get some troops back, but as long as he is playing 80 minutes on the edge he is a safe play.

The small sample size last year showed that he averaged 62PPG in the three games he played 80 minutes on the edge.

Jake Averillo (5-8/CTW)

Averillo has been less than impressive to start the season averaging 39PPG at 5/8 for the Bulldogs.

Jake looks like he has found a little bit of confidence against the Storm last week, splitting them open a couple of times.

The Bulldogs can’t be trusted to score points consistently but against the leaky Cowboys, I would be comfortable risking Averillo in my CTW.

Reuben Cotter (HOK)

Cotter is one for deeper leagues because he could really benefit from McGuire leaving the Cowboys.

He scored 74 points last week, with 72 points coming from base and looks threatening with the ball.

Of course we need to see how Lolo’s return impacts on his minutes and if they are consistent, but deeper league players should stash him this week.
