TopSport punting preview: NRL Round 6

Each week of the NRL season we’ll be dropping punting previews for the round ahead.

So far in 2021 we’ve profited a huge $251.67 based on $10 per bet, including 3/4 nailed multis in the opening rounds of the season. That’s a return on investment (ROI) of 132.46%.

Round 5 saw our first negative return of the season, failing to nail a tip.

PUNTING PLAYS

PLAY: Rabbitohs v Tigers: Rabbitohs -18.5 @$1.85

South Sydney are firing this year and should continue on their winning ways with key playmaker Cody Walker returning from suspension.

He adds a tremendous amount of potency to the attacking unit and they should be far too strong for the Tigers who conceded 34 points to a far inferior Cowboys outfit at Leichhardt Oval.

PLAY: Knights v Sharks: Knights -2.5 @$1.90

I really like the Knights before the season began, and they started on fire before injuries struck. They get key men back this week, and Kalyn Ponga has a game under his belt.

The Sharks have several key players out, with back-rower Teig Wilton and utilty half/fullback Connor Tracey playing out of position in the outside backs.

At home in Newcastle I think they can get the job done and cover the very marginal line.

PLAY: Sea Eagles v Titans: Corey Thompson anytime try-scorer @$1.83

Thompson has five tries in four games so far, and it can continue against an injury depleted Manly outfit. David Fifita is so threatening in attack that I think defenders will be sucked in more and more to nullify the threat, at which point I think the Titans will play out the back to the additional space which sets up well for Brian Kelly and Thompson.

I don’t mind him for multiple tries at greater odds, but we’ll play safe and hopefully the value comes in the weekly multi.
