Round 6 is but a distant, but memorable memory! What a round we had. The football was great with some sides now finding some form with a few others dropping well off the radar.
Football aside, suspensions, player returns and drop of form for some has just opened SuperCoach 2021 right up!
The emergence of both Tommy Turbo and Kalyn Ponga shed a light on who really are the top fullbacks in SuperCoach, with a number looking to bring either one of them in for Tedesco or Latrell, with the latter having a little visit to the judiciary.
Harry Grant was also electric and dependent on team lists, could be a straight trade in.

You should be starting to think about the Round 13 and Origin period. Spots in the top 1,000 can be won and lost over this tricky period. I can’t stand trying to sort a side out during this period so look to someone else to get advice!
Also trades are your best commodity. Use them wisely because if you use every single one from now until the end of the year, well I’m not smart enough to work it out, but you will be scrambling come Round 22!

Well we certainly didn’t get the result we were after here! I was so sure this was going to be a thumping I logged onto Mycricket to check the score.
Despite the low score, we were still gifted 125 points from Cleary, who despite scoring a try and setting one up, must have been given 15 points for winning the coin toss. A solid captain (or vice-captain) choice to start the weekend.
Kurt Capewell shrugged off my comments from last week to bang out a handy 82 points which included a try.
Brian To’o was incredible doing the work of two wingers. Which was lucky, because judging on his score of 15, it appeared Charlie Staines didn’t do too much.
Knights v Sharks
The Prince of Newcastle is back! Kalyn Ponga was simply superb in his second game back from injury knocking out 163, and doing it all whilst having a stomach bug. I’ll stop short of suggesting young aspiring fullbacks start adding a bit of raw chicken into their diet, but if it makes you play like that…
With the impending suspension to Latrell and Teddy’s demise in form, SuperCoach wise anyway, it now appears there is an opening in the fullback position. He has a tough run in the next three weeks but with Pearce still months away, a lot of the Knights attack will go through Ponga and he is a joy to watch.
Mitch Barnett struck back for owners scoring and setting a try up to notch up his second 100+ score of the year. There is a lot of attacking upside to him now Ponga is back so
Both Jayden and Blayke Brailey were solid with the pair notching up 57, which was about 50 points in tackles. Upgrading J Brailey to H Grant would be an absolute dream.

Teddy. It’s been fun while it lasted. Thanks for the back-to-back 100s to start the year. Thanks for nearly being worth a million dollars. But it’s nearing tax time and I’m looking for a better deal on my fullbacks. A new and improved model. One from Newcastle or the Northern Beaches. Hey, even one from Wolllongong would suit me better.
Teddy with 40 was a very tough watch for those of us who hadn’t sold the Roosters fullback. He was outplayed by the heir to the SuperCoach throne Ryan Papenhuyzen who doubled Teddy’s score. It wasn’t that Teddy wasn’t trying, he just seems to miss Keary and co getting him good early ball.
The real superstar in this game though was Harry Grant! My word the kid can play. Tigers fans probably thought the worst part of their weekend was going to be watching Harry Grant play… He is a must from now. No question about it.
Cam Munster looks like he could explode with a 120+ any game now. He has been as consistent as ever, but a lot of Melbourne’s last tackle option goes to Hughes. Look for him to go big soon.

Ohh Tommy Turbo you star! Just saying his name warms the heart. 116 in his return and what a return it was. I can’t remember a player being so important to one side. I and many others in the birdgang am very grateful Mr and Mrs Trbojevic met all those years ago. I’ll be getting him in as soon as lockout is over and that’s where he will stay for 2021.
As for the Titans, it was a pretty sad performance for Tino who now will miss the next two weeks due to a suspension. He is an immediate sell, but the question is to who? The FRF stocks are pretty shaky with no one apart from Welch really giving consistent scores.
David Fifita was a popular captain choice, but I think we all learnt a pretty valuable lesson. Don’t captain anyone against Manly anymore. His 78 seemed a little inflated but that was largely made up of tacklebusts and offloads. If there was any hesitation to bring him in, those base stats should paint a pretty good picture for you!

Rabbitohs v Tigers
What a finish!! This match had it all, including a choke from the Tigers. They seem to be a team that has forgotten how to win. It was a low scoring SuperCoach game despite both Murray and Tom Burgess’ scores of over 100. The 105 from Murray was just his second 100+ score since round 3 last year!
David Nofoaluma notched up his third 70+ score in the last four matches and shapes as a pretty solid CTW POD for the next few weeks with a pretty soft draw and at a pretty cheap price too.
For the Bunnies, it was a pretty insipid performance from their big guns with Walker, Latrell and Cook all failing to break 65 points. Walker hasn’t been that great for owners this year and has obviously been outscored by Munster and Luai due to the extra game, but Adam Doueihi has just five less points than the Bunnies star. He will need to find that 2020 form and quickly.
Latrell has earnt himself a three week holiday for showing Luke Garner his new boots. Very frustrating for owners.

Where has it all gone wrong for the Green Machine? 2020 was built around their defence but the last two weeks they have let in 30+ points and don’t seem to be able to find many points themselves.
They were outplayed by a rampaging Isaiah Papali’i who has just been absolutely enormous for the Eels. He banged out 129 and has a three week average of 110!
He was $432k three weeks back and since then has made owners a whopping $200k and still has a negative breakeven. With Matterson still no certainty he looks to have locked that left edge down for a while now. He is one player I missed the jump on but to owners who have him, well done!
Junior Paulo has fallen well off the radar with three scores in the 30s for the past three weeks. He needs to recapture that form quickly otherwise he will have to go to Rebel Sport to get a Blues jersey come Origin time.

Well after singing the Red V’s praises the past two weeks they went back to what we expected from them and let the Warriors run all over them. RTS showed us all what he is capable of running riot scoring 100 and getting his side over the line.
It’s funny to think little would have started the year with him but he is only 36 and 26 points scored behind Latrell and Tedesco. He’s a massive POD over the Origin period.
I’ll make a bold call here and say Zac Lomax is ripe for trading in. He was coasting last year until the Dragons played the Roosters and from then on, he averaged close to 75 points. He is pretty cheap at $542K and would be a good upgrade option for the likes of Staines, Laurie etc. I’m tipping he starts to fire from here on in.
Tohu Harris is another to look to move in over Origin. He crossed for a try but is still as consistent in the 2RF spot as anyone as he finished with a season high of 96. He plays his old club Melbourne this coming weekend so expect another solid performance.
Cowboys v Bulldogs
Very little to report here from SuperCoach and even NRL land. The game ignited after Jack Hetherington was sent off for something that was a sin-bin on Friday and a penalty on Saturday. Work that out.
Keep Luke Thompson in your SuperCoach Black Book too. He finished with 65 which appeared to be all base stats and he has a pretty low BE for next week. He might not have the ceiling of others but he looks to be a pretty good downgrade option.
The big talking point during the week was whether or not Ben Condon was a trap. Well he scored a try and finished the afternoon with 71 and made owners $73k in the process.
That’s not a trap ladies and gentleman. I’m still a little unsure about his job security, but he will still make a mountain of coin over the next month or so, should he get picked.
