2019 SC Classic overall champion
We run the rule over the best NRL SuperCoach captaincy options to select in Round 23.
Captain's ChallengeAlong comes the third last round of the Supercoach season with a gust of Tommy Turbo and my word is it magnificent.
Granted he plays this week, Turbo is your set-and-forget captain to end the season with, however if he is a late resting, we need to assess the next best captain options for the week and they are very few in number.
In fact, only three make the list and they are Adam Doueihi, Kalyn Ponga and James Tedesco. If you are at the top of the rankings, chances are you’ll have one of these three already, or are turning Gutho into one of them for your final trade this week.
Here’s the options in my selections in order of preference:

Teddy has looked back to his tackle-busting best over the last few rounds and I think he is ready to top score for the week.
Won’t dwell on this one, if you have Teddy and aren’t coming top 100 then you are captaining him in the hopes that the Raiders show up against Manly and limit Turbo to under 100.
The Dragons concede the 7th most SuperCoach points to fullbacks in the competition, however in the past five rounds they’ve conceded the most points since hitting a slump.
2. Kalyn Ponga – Has the best matchup any fullback could ask for at this point in the season against the Bulldogs. Expect Ponga to bounce back for owners this week and burn any bold sellers. KP has the ability to put 150+ up against a lacklustre Dogs defence.
If you have Ponga then you likely bought him for the Knights run, so you have to think about captaining him against the worst team in the comp.
The Bulldogs concede the 5th most SuperCoach points to fullbacks in the competition.
3. Adam Doueihi – It’s crunch time for both the Tigers and Sharks in this blockbuster matchup and Doueihi will likely step up to the plate and take this game on by the horns. He has looked exceptional at 5/8 and has a massively elevated floor with the goal-kicking duties right now.
Doueihi has looked as dangerous as Cody Walker when running the ball and has been unlucky not to score massively in the last few matches. The right footstep has been looking lethal and will likely catch some tired Sharks edge defence slacking late in either half.
The Sharks concede the 13th and 10th most SuperCoach points to 5/8s and halfbacks in the competition.

Harry Grant and Ryan Papenhuyzen – Granted it’s the first game of the week so you would likely VC one of these two if you owned them. Both will likely play 80 minute games and will need to do a lot of the heavy lifting in attack with Hynes at halfback. Both have enormous ceilings, and you would be looking for 130+ to loop.
