Draft Breakdown: Waiver-wire targets, grand final edition

We take a look at the best options to grab from the SuperCoach Draft wires ahead of Round 25, grand final week.

Draft Breakdown

There’s not many of us left still playing draft but for those left, congratulations, hopefully you are in the running for some cash or at the very least serious bragging rights.

Congratulations on the season to everyone. What makes SuperCoach so great is that no year is the same and this year has been the highest scoring season I can remember.

Forwards have become basically irrelevant in the game and it’s all about those high upside backs.

Anyway, let’s jump into the final round which looks like it will be filled with mass restings, especially in the Storm, Eels, Souths, Panthers and Knights line-ups.

As I write this, Will Smith has just been named the captain of the Eels for the weekend…so the restings in the Eels alone are set to be brutal.

I would target players from Manly, Titans, Warriors, Storm, Broncos and the Tigers for this last round.

Let’s jump into the waiver targets continuing with the same format as last week, looking at players by each position and available in 65% of leagues.

HOK

1. Sam Verrills – Has a 3RA of 62PPG and I expect him to do well against the Raiders this week.

2. Reuben Cotter – He has good skills and a great workrate, scoring 49 and 46 points in his last two games. He will do a job for you but won’t have great upside.

3. Wayde Egan – He is sharing time with Nikorima so he has a risk of a low score, but he has higher upside than Cotter with his attacking potential.

FRF

1. Moses Leota – Has a floor of around 38 points but also has the ability to score a try, as we saw last week.

2. Tui Kamikamica – Likely going to benefit from mass restings at the Storm and has a great workrate.

3. Junior Tatola – Consistent player when healthy and should get you 45+ every week.

2RF

1. Egan Butcher –  The clear best 2RF option scoring 71 in pure base stats last week and has some creativity that could see him score some attacking points. He should be a high waiver option for any team.

2. Shawn Blore – Playing 80 minutes on the edge, Blore is a safe option scoring 40+ points.

HFB – 5/8

1. Braydon Trindall – Coming off 130 and 80 point games and has been consistent since he came into the half role, scoring under 47 points once and having two games with over 100 points.

2. Jayden Sullivan – Starting at hooker for the Dragons, he isn’t afraid to take the line on and has great attacking potential, even against Souths. Playing hooker but available at HFB in SC is the dream come true.

3. Albert Kelly – Is averaging 61PPG over seven games this season including 20 minutes off the bench and games against the Storm and Roosters (twice). He has great base for a half and could score great against the Knights.

CTW

1. Phillip Sami – Great base and playing outside Kelly. The Titans play a must win game against the Warriors.

2. Matt Ikuvalu – Should return against the Raiders on the high scoring right-wing position of the Roosters.

3. Mikaele Ravalawa – Benefiting of late from being outside Lomax and as we saw last week against Cowboys he can produce the goods. Lomax is out this week which isn’t ideal.

4. Matt Timoko – The new base stat beast that is tackle busting every time he gets the ball, the only problem is that he isn’t seeing much ball.

5. Herbie Farnworth – Kicking goals and has the ability to score well against the Knights.

FLB

1. Jayden Campbell – What a nimble player who won’t be a hard worker but looks great around the ball and has a good matchup against the Warriors.

2. Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad – Should start at fullback this week, the Raiders need to win to make the finals and he has always had a high floor.

3. Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow – Has a low workrate that could really let you down, but if you are behind in your game and need a miracle worker, he has the potential to provide.
