We have the final say on the major Round 13 plays, including weather reports, super PODs, captains and more.

We’ve reached the final round of the SuperCoach Big Bash season, and with six games and four teams on the double it’s fair to say we’re set for an enthralling finish.
We’ve got five trades at our disposal and countless guns that will see themselves at fairly low-ownership, meaning the opportunity to significantly rise or fall in rankings is as strong as ever.
A new SuperCoach champion will be crowned and head-to-head leagues will be decided.
The Cooma Stallions are sitting in 101st prior to the end of Round 12. We’re ticking along nicely this round, so hopefully there’s a decent ranking rise after lockout.
I’ll be going hard on some point of difference plays this week in a last gasp attempt to crack the top 11 and sneak into the prizemoney.

TUESDAY
7:15PM: Hurricanes v Renegades, Marvel Stadium, Melbourne
Forecast: Cloudy, 21 degrees, 10% chance of any rain.
Verdict: Looking pretty well clear
WEDNESDAY
1:05PM: Heat v Sixers, The Gabba, Brisbane
Forecast: Possible shower, 31 degrees, 40% chance of 0-1mm of rain.
Verdict: Looking fairly good, but monitor the updated forecast in coming days.
4:10PM: Thunder v Renegades, MCG, Melbourne
Forecast: Partly cloudy, 25 degrees, 5% chance of any rain.
Verdict: All clear
7:50PM: Stars v Hurricanes, MCG, Melbourne
Forecast: Partly cloudy, 25 degrees, 5% chance of any rain.
Verdict: All clear
LOOKING AHEAD
While there’s nothing to look ahead to this week, the Hurricanes, Heat, Sixers and Renegades are all on the double game, so load up!
SUPER PODS
Each week one of our contributors will provide a full analysis on the point of difference (POD) players to consider.
In the Final Word, we’ll look at the super POD options, the players at under 5% ownership (or around about) that could send you soaring (or falling) up the overall ranks.
They come with big risk, but the reward is immense if it comes off.
Last week, Laurie Evans and Aaron Hardie both delivered with 44 and 85 points respectively.

Incredibly Steketee is at tiny ownership despite averaging a ridiculous 84 points this season!
I suppose his unreliable role coming in and out of the Heat team has made him hard to own at stages.
Regardless, in four rounds this season he has returns of 108, 92, 161 and 58.
The Heat are on the double, meaning you’ll find it tough to find a more in-form super POD than Stek.

I’ve never been a huge fan of SOK as a SuperCoach player as he’s typically more economically focused rather than being a genuine wicket-taker, but it’s hard to ignore his last round performance.
On return from injury he scored 120 points thanks to a stunning return of 4/15.
While we know it’s a golden rule of SuperCoach not to chase last week’s points, he ticks plenty of boxes.
The Sixers have the double, and with a stacked bowling line-up the opposition may again look to go after him.
Further, the Sixers have a very friendly double in the Strikers and Heat, so the upside is there.

Take your pick…
With four teams on the double, including the stacked Sixers outfit, there are options aplenty.
The Sixers play in game one, so it makes sense to pick your vice-captain from there.
Sean Abbott is the obvious pick, averaging 88 points and doing so almost effortlessly at times.
He has one score under 50 this season and three tonnes, including a 181 in a single game week!
Being that we get a free shot with the VC loophole, I also think Josh Philippe is a massive option.
He tonned up in Round 12, but plenty of low scores prior to that may scare people off him and lead them into Abbott.

Philippe has as big a ceiling as anyone and looks a juicy semi-POD skipper option.
There are captains everywhere to choose from after that.
Mark Steketee and Kane Richardson are excellent options, but depending on how I’m going early in the round, I’ll likely go with Ben McDermott.
It’s always extremely risky going with a sole batsmen rather than an all-rounder, but he’s been such a class above the competition this season that I feel quite comfortably giving him the armband.

Thanks for your great work across the season. Worth trading Matt Short for a DWR player, such as Steketee? Strikers play 6ers and seems they will struggle.

I think so yes, personally with five trades in hand and four teams on the double, and stacks of guns options I’ll just be stacking my full team with players on the double. Alternatively, the Strikers play game one so you could put the auto-emergency on Short and loop him if he goes big!
