Draft Breakdown: Round 14, waiver-wire, trade targets

As most veteran SuperCoach players know, we are now in the tricky part of the season with Origin arriving.

Although most of the Origin stars have been named be prepared for late pullouts.

There is a good opportunity for those teams at the lower end of the table to climb up the ranks in Origin period, as your team is probably more flexible in dropping players to cover outs.

Below are some players that are owned in less than 35% of leagues.

Keep an eye on Origin injuries, as you will need to act quickly to pickup up players that will benefit from these injuries.

Players to trade in if an injury occurs are: Jayden Sullivan, Peter Mamouzelos, Will Warbrick, Jayden Nikorima, TC Robati, Andrew Davey and Sean O’Sullivan.

TOP WAIVER PRIORITIES

Ezra Mam

Mam has seemingly won the 5/8 role at Broncos and is a big waiver target averaging 81 PPG in his two games.

He managed to score 31 and 32 points in base this season, which is very impressive for a half.

His base combined with his attacking ability and Reyno by his side, he will be great inclusion into nearly every side.

VALUE WAIVER PRIOTIES

Luke Garner

Garner recently gained the dual 2RF/CTW status but is actually playing left 2RF for the Tigers.

Having an 80-minute 2RF who you can play in your CTW and who has scored 49 and 40 points in base is great value this year.

Tom Burgess

After a slow start to the season Turgess is best available FRF in 65% of leagues.

He has a five round average of 58 points and is getting good minutes.

Despite Cameron Murray’s return from injury last week, Turgess still played 51 minutes.

Raymond Faitala-Mariner

I mentioned RFM as one to watch a few weeks back and its time to get him before it’s too late.

He has the ability to be a great SuperCoach player and in 2018 and 2020 he averaged 59 PPM and was often the only shining light for the Bulldogs.

He has been eased back through injury but last week we saw enough signs to get him into your side on the bench.

RFM looked like he has shaken off a lot of his hesitancy and was running hard and looking for an offload.

In a few more weeks he could be punching out 80 mins and 55+ scores.

Josh McGuire

Coming back from a groin injury he is averaging 54 PPG this year if you take out his injury affected game.

He does have a suspension in him, but it looks like he’s trying to curve his suspension behaviour and despite these issues he has never averaged under 50 PPG since 2018.

Also, it’s very handy that he is available at FRF and 2RF.

TC Robati

TC Robati can do a job for you and in almost every league.

TC Robati is a short-term play until Capewell returns but and has scored 52 and 44 points in the two games he played 80 minutes on the edge.

I personally think he is a great talent and has a good offload on him.

Trade IN Targets

Xavier Coates

Coates is coming off the back of a three-round average of just 20 PPG.

He is averaging only 17 PPG in base stats and it’s no surprises that his form is suffering without Papi at fullback as he sets up a lot of his trys.

Once Origin is over and Papi returns he will be back to putting up some monster scores.

Tom Starling

Starling was on this list as a trade out when he was playing 80 minutes early this year and now is a trade in off the back of very limited minutes in the last two weeks.

Be warned, you have to be ready for Ricky mucking around with him through the year and he isn’t a player for everyone.

However, I like the chances of him playing 50-60 minutes come the end of the season and could be a great option as the Raiders play the Dragons, Knights, Sea Eagles and Tigers in draft finals.

Trade OUT Targets

Jarome Luai

Luai has three round average of 79 PPG and 61 PPG.

However, in the first nine rounds of the year he averaged 46 PPG and is about to go through an Origin series.

Last year Luai averaged 33 PPG from rounds 11-18 and has shown he can go through some cold patches in SuperCoach.

If you sold him now, you’d be selling him at peak and could get the best out of trading him now.

Warriors, Tigers and Bulldogs players not at the club next year

All these clubs have an interim coach and there is a strong possibility they start developing players for next year at the cost of players leaving at the end of the year.

Obviously, the form of the players will also influence this decision and it is far from a certainty but we’ve seen it before.

I’m most worried about forwards and their respective minutes such as Euan Aitken and Luciano Leilua.
