Draft Breakdown: Round 19, waiver-wire, trade targets

Most leagues have only two or three games left before draft finals.

The top priority waiver last week, Sean O’Sullivan, came through for us with a very handy 80-point score. Sean will be interesting next year at the Dolphins. I am not expecting world breaking scores leaving the best club, but I do like a running half for SuperCoach though.

Unfortunately, Dom Young only played half the game for 32 points before going off with a rib injury and Lodge only got limited minutes, but this should increase.

Below are the top priority and value waivers owned in over 65% of leagues.

TOP PRIORITY WAIVERS

Toluta Koula

Koula looks like he is finally getting decent ball and has earnt DCE’s trust with a three-round average of 75 PPG and five round average of 68 PPG.

He is getting some good early ball, as well as some beautiful line balls in the attacking zones.

We didn’t see him getting many opportunities earlier through the year but has still been averaging a decent 26 in base with a few tackle busts on top.

Manly have a good run to finish the year, playing the Dragons, Roosters, Eels, Titans, Sharks, Raiders and Bulldogs to end the season.

They are also a team that have proven they can really pile on the points on these weaker teams.

VALUE WAIVERS

Young Tonumaipea /Will Warbrick

Either Young Tonumaipea or Will Warbrick will likely be named on the wing as Nick Meaney moves into the fullback role due to Papenhuyzen’s season ending injury.

Looking at their stats, both have shown good scoring potential and work ethic in Queensland Cup.

Although the Storm won’t be putting cricket scores on teams, they are still one of the better teams of the competition.

Whoever gets the role will likely play the left wing, outside Cameron Munster, which is the ideal position.

Corey Wadell

Wadell has cemented his role as the 80-minute right edge back rower for the Bulldogs.

He has always been a great workhorse and has suffered from being in and out of the team or playing reduced minutes.

Now he has locked down the 80-minute role, he is producing respectable SuperCoach scores with a three round average off 55 PPG and five round average of 54 PPG.

On top of his usual great work ethic, he is getting more attacking opportunities and the Bulldogs are starting to score some points and was unlucky to no score last week with a disallowed try.

Dale Finucane

Finucane has suffered a few concussions and a knee injury this year which has affected his average of 45 PPG.

Since his return, he has slowly been building his minutes and played 65 minutes last week and 59 minutes the week before.

Last week he also managed to pump out 56 points in pure base stats.

Sam Verrills

I’ve always been a big Verrills fan, and I think people forget he was coming back from an ACL injury last year which would of impacted his game and SuperCoach scores.

He has been in the wars a bit this season with a broken thumb and collarbone but whenever he plays, the Roosters look so much better with their attack.

He has a three average of 58 PPG which was boosted by a try and extended minutes last week.

Verrills’ effect on the Roosters team is too important, especially with Roosters injury issues.

If you are struggling for a hooker, you could do worse than Verrills.

Phillip Sami

I don’t mind a bit of Sami, despite playing for the Titans he is averaging 56 PPG and is also averaging 30 in base stats which is great for CTW.

The Titans have a decent run to finish the year and may just throw the ball around a bit more in their final four games of the season against Manly, Dragons, Knights and Warriors.

Nathan Brown

Nathan Brown has been granted an immediate release to join the Storm.

Similar to Lodge at the Roosters, it may take some time for the Storm to give Brown decent minutes.

He does have greater potential than your average waiver, although we are getting to the pointy end of the season where we can’t afford to wait on potential players.

I still wouldn’t mind stashing him and he may even get a positional upgrade if plays prop for Storm.
