Money movers: Players to trade/target to up cap value, Round 22

2021 AFL SuperCoach runner-up Steve Nikolovski assesses all the key players set to make big cash, and those set to plummet in value.

AFL

It finally happened!  My first full premium team for the season… and with the Cripps suspension it’s gone…  I now need to somehow find a decent score for the last 2 rounds by looping players like Owens/Butler/Carmichael/Khamis/D’Ambrosio, so yeah, wish me luck!  At least I have a reliable Captain loophole who isn’t a sub candidate.  I did manage to rise the ranks a little again posting a 2487 which I was relatively happy with, and I hope you performed as well if not better.

On the Cripps decision, I just don’t get the outcome over action direction the AFL is taking on the players.  The umpire didn’t think it warranted a free kick, but he gets suspended for 2 weeks purely because the player was concussed.  It’s baffling to me, and I’m a Collingwood supporter so I’m born to hate Carlton!

Once again, I’m rabbling.  Let’s see what the best buy and sell players are this week looking at the break-evens.

Kallan Dawson*D-57$102,40059+$52.0k

Jackson Archer*D-35$117,30053+$39.1k

Top Trade in’s:

  1. Brynn Teakle – I have him on top because he looks the best scoring option if you need to field him, and he’s bargain-basement price.  The ruck forward swing could provide much needed flexibility to some coaches’ teams.
  2. Kallan Dawson – Just on top of Worrell purely on price point. He might score a little less than him but I’m assuming he’ll be sitting on your bench anyway and not utilised.
  3. Josh Worrell – If you need to field a rookie defender this is your guy.

Top Trade in’s:

  1. Josh Dunkley – Looks back to his best at the expense of Macrae playing more wing time.
  2. Rowan Marshall – Still has his massive 173 in his scoring cycle for another week.  Started slow but still posted a respectable 96 against a Cats outfit who generally limit opposition rucks well.  Brisbane and Sydney to come and at least another big score to come.
  3. Toby Nankervis – A huge 158 against the Power last week and has Hawthorn and Essendon to come, both at the G.
  4. Aaron Hall – We know he has a massive ceiling and it’s only 2 games left, what could go wrong…  Adelaide and Gold Coast are a good match-up too.  For those who like a punt.
  5. Ollie Wines – Has a couple of good tonnes in a row now and I expect big scores against Essendon and Adelaide in the last two rounds.
  6. Tom J Lynch – This is for the cash strapped.  Another with injury risk but a massive ceiling.  Hawthorn and Essendon at the MCG just screams a couple of big bags to me.  He was the highest priced forward earlier in the year.

Final Say

For those who follow the article I have decided to scrap the best trade out options.  Let’s be honest you’re not trading out your premiums because they have a big break-even, or are possibly getting tagged, and there’s no time to wait for them to bottom out and trade in.  For those with no money but smart enough to hold a trade I do like the look of Patrick Cripps to Andrew Brayshaw.

Best of luck in your preliminary finals matchups or overall rank ambitions.
