Final word: Strategy, skippers, trades, Round 4

In an interesting start to Supercoach I definitely feel like this year’s winner can come from a fair way back after 3 weeks. Keep faith Supercoaches and make your adjustments as necessary. This could well be the week it turns.

Strategy

Definitely its worth using the Trade Boost again this week to get in those players you feel you have missed and just need to have. Cotter to Haas seems a no-brainer for me. What was so exciting to see from Payne Haas was that last 12 minute stint where he really opened up his offloading game which is huge for the Broncos and also provides him with massive SC scoring upside.

When you look at the Hooker position Harry Grant appears so far superior in Supercoach scoring than any other player in the position. Sure Mahoney and particularly Wayde Egan have had great starts to the season. There is no doubt Egan is going to make a heap of cash when he returns from his Concussion stand-down but can he keep scoring tries every game?

His role has changed significantly with the new coaching regime of Andrew Webster and the Warriors new style of play and his supercoach scoring will be significantly better than previous years because of that. But I still feel like Harry is an absolute must and for that reason I’m rushing him straight in.

My third trade on the back of using back-to-back Trade Boosts will likely be Kalyn Ponga to Josh Schuster. The trade allows me to free up some cash for a future gun, most likely Nicho Hynes, but at the same time I get another week to look at a couple of my 2RF’s I’m uncertain on in Marata Niukore and Jackson Ford and get another look at CTW’s Koula, To’o and Holmes.

Best Value Propositions

Connolly Lemuelu and Mason Teague

These pair of Dolphins will see increased playing roles and time on the back off some injuries to Dolphins middles and Felise Kaufusi’s 4-week suspension. Teague looks a PPM beast but with him being so young Wayne Bennett is likely to try and blood him slowly. Lemuelu runs one of the best lines I’ve seen on the left edge. It’s very similar to what Fitzgibbon does for the Knights. Lemuelu will score some tries or set some up. He has attacking upside which will definitely benefit his Supercoach scoring.

Tom Gilbert

Clearly another beneficiary of Dolphins lack of depth in their middles. Gilbert’s scoring has shown no signs of wavering.

Jacob Preston

You just have to have him. In not time he’s locked down the right edge spot and runs great lines and frankly looks like a gun. Translates to excellent Supercoach scoring also.

Shaun Johnson  – in vintage form and is getting more and more confident behind an emerging side. Goalkicking helps his floor.

Luke Brooks – I know what your thinking…. I’ve lost the plot! But I’ve actually liked the look of the way the new playing style at Tigers suits Brooks’ SC scoring. Of course if they continue to lose then maybe he won’t be there much longer but yeah if your’re in the mood for risk I think you could be rewarded.

Mason Teague  – see above.

Connolly Lemuelu – see above

Round 3 Match-ups

Eels have been a bit loose defensively early on and its hard to not like this match up of the Panthers. Sticking with Turuva, To’o and Cleary to post some decent SC scores.  

Also pretty keen on the 2^nd game of the round as a new Harry Grant owner. Really feel like the Melbourne Storm who will be up and about to take on the Tigers in Melbourne.

Captain’s

Safe Plays

Payne Haas – Big game …. Big game player. Haas is just starting to tap into the unbelievable talent and physical specimen he is. Now he’s started pre-line passing and offloading it opens his game up to some heavy supercoach scoring.

Nathan Cleary – Eels are bleeding in defense and the Panthers will turn the screws – Cleary is due to go big. Safe play

Harry Grant – Tigers have some issues to fix up. Storm have plenty of holes in their roster at the moment as well. Likely to be high scoring and Harry will be all over it with plenty of attacking SC points for his team.

Left-field options

Tom Turbo – most weeks he’ll be a safe play but this week they play Souths. Souths are no joke – genuine top-4 side and have significantly improved their defence and attention to detail across 80minutes. Turbo could go big but the above options are a lot safer.
