SC Bandit
SuperCoach expert
The SC Bandit runs the rule over the best AFL SuperCoach captaincy and vice-captaincy options to consider.
AFLLast week was a tough one for many SuperCoaches, with many captaincy options not quite delivering the scores we would have hoped for.
Those who found Tim English as VC early in the round or Clayton Oliver in his 150th game were handsomely rewarded with scores that would have set them well apart from the pack.
Let’s take a look at the best captaincy options for Round 4 in the hope we get some more consistent scoring from our premium players.

As mentioned above with Neale, Dunkley will benefit from Big O dominating the hitouts and even if the Pies do manage to shark some, the Lions should still get a lot of ball going their way.

Let’s be honest, Neale has had a pretty mediocre start to the season by his lofty standards. He’s averaging 104 after three games which is not terrible by any means, but the Lions really need a big game from him this week. He’ll get every opportunity with Collingwood going in without a recognised ruckman, so Neale and his Lions teammates should dominate around the stoppages.

I’ll be interested to see what the Lions do with him this week as Chris Fagan does have a couple of players who can play a negating role on someone of Daicos’ influence. Just the one game to his name against Brisbane previously, so data is not really a factor here.
Embed from Getty ImagesFound a stack of footy last week against the Giants and I can’t see any reason why he wouldn’t do similar against North Melbourne on Good Friday. The Roos don’t really have an obvious matchup for him and to be honest I can see the Blues mids really doing a number on them in this fixture. They’ve changed the opponent for this marquee fixture, but the result could still be the same.

Embed from Getty ImagesOwners would have been disappointed with his output last week as Docherty collected 39 touches but butchered about half of them, resulting in either none or negative SC points. I think we can put that down as an outlier game and back him to bounce back under the roof on Friday afternoon. He averages 101.2 at Marvel Stadium which I think he’s every chance to go eclipse comfortably.

Had a very good game against Port Adelaide and would have scored more if not for some other brilliant individual performances on both teams. I think the Crows will knock off Fremantle this weekend and Laird will be pivotal to that.

Embed from Getty ImagesOne of the hottest players in the game right now from a SC perspective and I can’t see that stopping against Richmond. He comes up against an experienced ruckman in Nankervis, but let’s be honest, English is at the point in his career where he can monster these types of players. Should be a safe option this week.
Last 3 v RICH: 96, 50, 103
Embed from Getty ImagesWilled his team to a much-needed win last week against Brisbane but he wasted what would have been a 130+ SC score if not for some woeful ball use and free kicks against. I think he’ll right that wrong this week against the Tigers.

Embed from Getty ImagesLeaving the best option till last here, with Oliver coming up against a West Coast side that has been decimated by injury. His recent record against the Eagles isn’t amazing, but that shouldn’t be a factor this week. If you’re an owner, he’s almost a set and forget captain at this point.
