Head 2 Head Focus: Top NRL Supercoach Players For The Bye Rounds

Max Bryden runs through his top NRL Supercoach players to trade in ahead of the Origin bye rounds.

NRL

The bye rounds mean many things. We get the creme de la creme of our sport; State of Origin.

Players will turn up next week with new leg tats. And importantly, we’re almost halfway through our overall SuperCoach season!

If you’re focusing on Head to Head, most leagues will already be over the ‘halfway’ mark, with Finals kicking off typically in Round 23.

In this article, we’ll look at some NRL Supercoach players I like for rounds 13-20 with a head-to-head focus:

1. Dylan Edwards

Edwards should be the absolute most traded in player in round 13.

Despite the Panthers not playing in rounds 16 or 19, Nathan Cleary is out during the Origin bye period and Edwards will retain the kicking.

2. Jahrome Hughes

Speaking of Cleary, if you haven’t already traded him, trading him to Hughes for the Storm’s brilliant run of games from round 14 – 18 is pretty much a no-brainer.

Hughes is expected to come back from a calf injury for Round 12-13, and will be leading the Storm’s attack with Cam Munster out for the next 10 weeks.

3. Joey Manu

Not only is ‘bye round Manu’ a thought that keeps me awake at night as a non-owner, the Chooks draw is juicy as from round 13 -18.

His edge is firing at the moment and the sooner you collect these two, the sooner you can stop making trades in CTW.

If dedicated to H2H, Manu is likely going to increase in price after round 13 if he plays FLB (and scores his inevitable ton all in base).

Also don’t look now, but the Chooks draw for H2H finals is also out of control (aside from the round 23 bye).

4. Jesse Ramien/Sione Katoa/Briton Nikora

Some tougher rounds from 10-12 could halt the price rises on these three, but with nice bye coverage and a tasty draw, Sharks backs will be hot property.

If only Prince Nicho was going to miss Origin this would be unreal.

5. Izack Tago

Dirt cheap already after a lean five week stretch.

He averaged 68 last season pretty much all in base and is still young.

A very solid piece at a bargain price who you’ll own for the season.

I love him as a bye in round 13.

6. Reuben Garrick

The draw isn’t great right now which will hopefully correct his soaring price.

Whilst he has missed the chance to get that fullback spot with Turbo injured, he has now become Manly’s strike attacking player in the outside backs.

Haumole Olakau’atu is on the list too if he misses Origin.

7. Matt Burton/Jacob Kiraz/Connor Tracey

If you believe the Bulldogs can keep it up, these three are the players to watch in my mind.

You can throw in Max King who could be a keeper at FRF.

8. Scott Drinkwater

Ideally you’ll want him pre-Origin in this week or next, but he remains a rock solid hold if your focus is on H2H.

9. Dylan Brown

The time to invest is probably round 12, and he can hold his spot for you until at least the round 20 bye, if not for the season.
