Clementine Cassidy
NRL SuperCoach, 6th overall, 2021
2021's sixth-placed finisher Clementine Cassidy runs through the top captaincy candidates for Supercoach Round 12.
NRLIt was Spy all along.
It was the schooner of XXXX poured over his head at 3am on the Caxton dancefloor that did it.
An 80-point play.
A play that legendary tales speak about. An urban legend whispered around campfires.
Glorious scenes!
SC Spy. Captain of the Round. Best on Ground.
Dylan Edwards didn’t stand a chance.
120 points was nothing on Spy’s easy double ton.
He CLEARLY Captained himself. Inspired.
And what a weekend! I just told Spy I’m ready to go again.
Surely Magic Round can happen twice in a season?
Either that, or I’m booking flights up to Brissie for Origin.
NOTHING beats a Caxton Street x Footy collaboration.
From meeting a bunch of absolute legends in the stadium and the Lord Alfred and the Caxton carpark/street/Saturday-night dancefloor; to spontaneously combusting when Prince Nicho walked up the stairs at the Caxton and all I could do was fangirl in the corner next to Timmy and grin at him like a Cheshire cat –
Magic Round 2024 was in the words of Barney Stinson…
Legen…say it with me and I hope you’re not lactose intolerant…because the second half of that word is…DARY!
Absolutely bloody LEGENDARY!!
Now I’m on the poddy next week (I think) so I’ll do my top 5 then (which will clearly include manifesting meeting my NRL personality idol, Joel Caine, outside the Lord Alfred mere minutes after I told the boys he was my fave…)
But let’s move onto the Captains for this round as I’m already late with this article but I could absolutely fill the whole thing with Caxton stories…
Oh wait! First.
Congrats to Nick Moon who took out the Captaincy challenge between him, me, Timmy, and Spy last round.
Dylan Edwards you absolute GUN! (I’ll console my loss with the Warriors win – Best.Day.Ever!).
And a quick apology to the lovely guy in the Caxton carpark who gave me the absolute honour of using his last trade on anyone I wanted, and I chose Drinky, and then I got Nick Moon to have input and he chose Edwards, and then we rock, paper, scissors’d it out to make doubly sure with Moon winning.
I think the guy still went Drinky… so there is some absolute faith there and I am very honoured but I honestly hope you followed Moon and not me.
Pure. Chaos
And one more shoutout to the crew celebrating their friend’s 18th – what a bloody blissful way to bring up the milestone and a shoutout to one of that group, George, who absolutely manifested that Armstrong would ton up. The manifestation is strong with that one. He should be writing these articles…

Now let’s start with some Vice Captains:
And we’ll begin with Spy’s Main Man (remember I broke the story in the article last week – just call me Woman’s Day…)
Embed from Getty ImagesWell Spy’s Main Man couldn’t quite finish for Timmy, me, and Spy who ALL Captained him and watched live what could have been a ton finish with a 76 which included two try assists.
So fair to say we were a little bit dehydrated so we just quenched our thirst with more beer and whiskeys instead so that was okay.
But this round. Vs the Tigers. This is the week where Scotty D finishes what he started last round and scores that elusive ton!
Last time he played the Tigers he finished on 173 points…do with that information what you will and Vice Captain the man!

My heart broke this morning with the news that the Friday Beers latest recruit, Koula, is in fact out with injury.
But then my heart leapt a little with the realisation that Garrick will now play Fullback!
Tonning up last round vs the Broncos and with a 3-round average of 80…Garrick is an absolute legitimate Vice Captaincy option this round at Fullback who MUST be considered.
Is my play of trading in Hughes for Cleary weeks early, FINALLY going to pay off for me??
Hughes is back baby and I’m willing to roll the dice and say that with Munster out there are more chances of Hughes winning the Storm playmaker game of rock, paper, scissors – so we can legitimately expect a ton using this logical approach as Harry had his turn last week so yup.
Vice Captain Hughes with confidence (extra bonus points if you own that absolute gun EKat too – the Hughes/Ekat double whammy is going to send the Friday Beers skyrocketing past Spy this week.
Mark my words.

Here is where we find a few Chooks to vice captain
First, a sad tale of woe and sadness.
Joey M was meant to be a Captain in this article. But then…Timmy Williams, that absolute Joey M jinx, has decided to bring him in this week, meaning come 5 pm Saturday all Joey M owners will be mourning the loss of his points as Timmy breaks him for all of us.
So instead, Joey M is now a Vice Captain and with a 3-round average of 88 and an average of 101 over the last 3 games vs the Raiders…you could do no wrong taking a Vice Captaincy punt on the great Sir.
(Now if only I can convince Timmy to take one for the team and reverse his trade…as SC Playbook Support Group Specialist, it is my absolute duty to at least try…watch this space…)
And look.
He has now proven to me two weeks in a row that he has changed his ways and after bringing him back in for a second chance after the -15, I can happily report that my new SC Situationship is going quite well thank you.
A 3-round average of 114, a sweet, SWEET 97 including 2 tries vs the Sharks last round – not only is Dom Young a legitimate Vice Captaincy option this week, but I’m also going to channel my inner-Joel Caine and proclaim that he’s a must for your multi too – remember to set your deposit limit.

I should have had at least a tub of V05 in my handbag for any potential meetings – but I sadly did not.
And so, I just spontaneously combusted at the table next to Timmy instead.
Now our glorious wet-haired Prince is an automatic Captaincy option EVERY.SINGLE.WEEK.
At this point his hair will be wet with rain, or gel, or sweat – it literally doesn’t matter.
A 3-round average of 124, playing the Panthers who lost to the Warriors last week…
Honestly just whack the Captaincy on our wet-haired Prince and be done with it. (And always carry a tub of V05 around with you just in case…).
Of course, you might rather go the Nick Moon route of a Captaincy on Dylan Edwards which will also be an inspired guaranteed ton-up.
The top scorer in SuperCoach so far this season followed by daylight, and a 3-round average of 102 – 120 points in the Panther’s loss to the Warriors last week.
Dylan Edwards is a must-Captain if you are lucky enough to own.
Embed from Getty ImagesEverybody who traded in Latrell last round – you are an inspired GENIUS and with a try and 2 try assists to his name – 107 points – I am so happy for you!
And it’s Indigenous Round this round, and if Latrell’s playing Origin, he’s surely going to be playing his heart out for a spot there too, and there’s a genuine lack of Captain Obvoiuses this round – so he’s a legitimate Captaincy option v the Eels…
(I’m just not brave enough to go there myself but if you like a bit of a risk DO. IT…)
I’m going to hedge my bets on a Vice Captaincy on Spy’s Main Man, Scotty D.
If he leaves me dehydrated like last round, I’ll put the Captaincy on either Prince Nicho or Joey M – if I can get over the fact that Timmy has traded him in.
(I can’t decide quite yet because my brains still somewhere on the Caxton dancefloor dancing and singing at the top of my lungs with a bunch of legends to Mr Brightside…)
But whoever you Captain this week, I hope he absolutely scores you a Jakey T thumbs up ton.
Clementine xxx
