The Random Stats Guy analyses the player ownership of the top ranked Supercoach teams in Round 17

NRL

Analysing the NRL Supercoach ownership of players across the top teams heading into the last week of Supercoach.

To make life easier when identifying true ownership of NRL Supercoach players, each week we’ll break it down into ranking brackets.

Whether you’re chasing ranks, or playing it safe up top, it’ll help identify the best ways to try and achieve your Supercoach goals.

The tables below sets out the proportion of Supercoach teams in the top 1%, top 5%, top 10% and overall that own each player.

This season, there are over 150,000 Supercoach teams, so the top 1% would be roughly the top 1500 teams, top 5% is the top 7,500 teams and top 10% is top 15,000 teams.

Let’s take a look at the ownership of players heading into Round 17.

Fullback

Fletcher Sharpe is the most traded-out player this week, after his season was put in limbo following a nasty kidney and spleen injury.

As a result, most Supercoaches have downgraded to Josiah Karapani or gone straight across to gun CTW Jacob Kiraz.

Lehi Hopoate has also jumped in popularity as the 6th most traded in player for the top 1% of Supercoaches, following news he will take over the #1 jersey.

In his 4 starts at fullback this season (non-HIA impacted), he has scored 107, 87, 46 and 78.

With a breakeven of 120 and a bye in two rounds, there isn’t a huge rush to get him in unless you really need to.

CTW

Jack Bostock was the most traded-in last week, but 22,000+ Supercoaches broke him as he went off with a season-ending ACL injury.

Let’s hope it is not the case for this week’s most traded-in player, Josiah Karapani who has scored 88 and 97 in his 2 games at left wing this season.

He will jump from $290k to $400k this week with a -85 breakeven, and the way the Broncos’ left edge has been going, will likely score well again.

Jacob Kiraz is the 2nd most traded-in player this week as the Bulldogs play every remaining round of the season.

He has a 5-round average of 94.6 with a season-low of just 53 points in the game that the Dogs were pumped by Brisbane in the wet.

He is definitely a season keeper.

5/8

Jayden Campbell ranked in the top 10 for most traded-in players by the top 1% of Supercoaches last week, only to be ruled out early with Cat 1 HIA and miss an golden points-scoring opportunity against the woeful Cowboys.

However, the top 1% haven’t rage-traded him too hard this week, with only 100-odd letting him go.

Latu Fainu will get 4-weeks to cement his spot as the Tigers new halfback, following the news of Jahream Bula being ruled out for 4 weeks with a hamstring injury.

He is the 8th most traded-in player this week for the top 1%.

In his 3 starts at halfback in his career, he has scores of 11, 71 and 5, which isn’t too appealing if you’re looking for him to score points.

HLF

Many went Jahrome Hughes last week and were licking their lips 10 minutes into the game against the Souths when he crossed for a try.

However, that’s about the only thing new owners could celebrate, with Hughes ending on just 45 points…

Nicho Hynes, on the other hand, crossed for a try as well and doubled Hughes’ score with 90.

We’ll see who has the last laugh this Sunday, with Nicho boasting a high of 43 in 2 games against his former club and Hughes averaging 56, including 119 last time they met at AAMI Park.

2RF

A lot of hype has been coming out about Viliame Kikau finding form in Supercoach scoring, which has led to him being the 6th most traded-in player this week and 3rd most traded-in for the top 1%.

He is averaging 72 this season and 80 in his last 5 games.

He has a 70% strike rate of scoring 60+ points, which is very consistent.

Haumole Olakau’atu has been cleaned out by nearly 5,000 Supercoaches following his shoulder injury.

Whilst owners of Lachlan Hubner have had their patience run out, as he is the 7th most traded-out player this week.

FRF

Payne Haas reminded everyone that he will be a season-keeper post-Origin period after he punched out 108 points in 58 minutes (1.9 pts per min) against the Sharks.

He is the 7th most traded-in player by the top 1%, but if you are thinking about him he will likely miss Round 19 and Round 20, so there is no need to rush.

Erin Clark continues to grow in popularity, now owned by over a third of Supercoaches in the top 1%.

He is a low of 65 in his last 8 matches, with two tons.

Warriors won’t play Round 18, but then have the Tigers, Knights and Titans.

Tasty.

HOK

Harry Grant made it consecutive scores in the 80s, with a try and 46 tackles against the Bunnies.

He has the Sharks (H) and then Cowboys (A), into a possible Round 20 match up against Manly at home post-Origin Game 3.

Ryley Smith‘s suspension has led to most Supercoaches upgrading to Grant for just under $200k.
