Quantium Data Analysis: 2025 NRL Supercoach Ownership Stats, Rd 23

The Random Stats Guy analyses the player ownership of the top ranked NRL Supercoach teams in Round 23

NRL

Analysing the NRL Supercoach ownership of players across the top teams heading into the last week of Supercoach.

To make life easier when identifying true ownership of NRL Supercoach players, each week we’ll break it down into ranking brackets.

Whether you’re chasing ranks, or playing it safe up top, it’ll help identify the best ways to try and achieve your Supercoach goals.

The tables below sets out the proportion of Supercoach teams in the top 1%, top 5%, top 10% and overall that own each player.

This season, there are over 150,000 Supercoach teams, so the top 1% would be roughly the top 1500 teams, top 5% is the top 7,500 teams and top 10% is top 15,000 teams.

Let’s take a look at the ownership of players heading into Round 23.

Fullback

First time in a while that there hasn’t been too much to talk about for the fullbacks

Reece Walsh picked up some interest after he top-scored in Round 22 with 134, with most Supercoaches going to him via Herbie Farnworth.

Two match-ups against the Storm, with the Cowboys, Dolphins and Knights in between, isn’t too appealing; however, he will be in the thick of the Broncos’ attack as they make a charge for a home final.c

CTW

Herbie Farnworth is the latest highly owned player to go down with a (regular) season-ending injury.

Another forced trade, but who have the top 1% ranked Supercoaches chosen to be his successor?

Dane Gagai is the most traded-in player this week, after he has killed it since moving to fullback for the Knights, averaging 96 in his last 3 games.

He also frees up cash, about $150k, that can be spent on another position/player.

Zac Lomax is the 2nd most traded-in player, however, most had already jumped to him in Round 20.

His immediate run home is slightly more appealing in my opinion, with the Cowboys, Rabbitohs, Roosters, Warriors and Knights.

AJ Brimson (see 5/8 section below), Jacob Kiraz, and Matt Timoko are among the other popular replacements for Herbie.

Timoko has been insane the last two games, scoring 2 tries in each and posting up 134 and 111 respectively.

However, as Nelly Furtado once said “all good things must come to an end”, he has scored sub 50 in 35% of his games this year – feels like chasing points.

5/8

The Titans duo of Jayden Campbell and AJ Brimson make the top 4 most popular five-eighth options – wild for a team a loss away from the spoon.

Campbell has tonned up in his last 2 games, which have been arguably the hardest to achieve in Supercoach – vs Panthers, vs Warriors at Go Media.

Now he has a day game against a Rabbitohs’ side who leaked 60 points last week. He could score anything.

AJ Brimson has been a popular trade-in for Herbie Farnworth with his dual CTW status.

Two problems I see with AJ – he has scored sub 60 in 55% of games this season, and Keano Kini is returning as soon as next week, which could move AJ to centre, or five-eighth, or worst (and unlikeliest) case to the bench.

HLF

Not much movement at halfback.

Confidence in the 1-2 punch of Hynes and Cleary has increased.

2RF

Not too much movement in the 2RF position.

Beau Fermor has been picked up by some as replacement for Herbie with his dual CTW position.

He has been solid without being great, with 4 scores of 60+ points in his last 6 games, but only one of those scores over 70.

FRF

Erin Clark and Pat Carrigan are the 8th and 10th most traded-in players respectively.

Most have used the freed-up cash to spend on Erin Clark as a backup FRF option with Terrell May on the bye.

Whilst Pat Carrigan has been decent in the middle with a 3RA of 73, but beware of Payne Haas returning which will reduce his scoring output.

HOK

Not too much to mention in the hooker department.

Blayke Brailey has been picked up by a few Supercoaches, who have used the freed-up cash from Herbie to buy.

Can’t underestimate his dream draw of Dragons, Titans, and Knights in the coming weeks!
