Final Word Week 3 | NFL Supercoach Trades, Captains, PODs

Eden Richards gives his trade plans, captains, and PODs ahead of NFL Supercoach Week 3

NFL

Week 3 is here, and that means price changes are on the horizon.

Coaches have a big decision to make… Continue to keep the faith and hope your lowest-scoring players come good, or bite the bullet and burn some trades before they begin to lose money.

I am in the latter.

I have stressed patience in the opening weeks of SuperCoach, and that message won’t change; however, there are times when you must be ruthless and make changes when it is for the betterment of your team in the long run.

This is your last opportunity to trade away your stragglers before they start leaking cash, and also your best chance to get underpriced guns before they start going up in price.

There are a few must-have players this week, so let’s get into it…

Trade Plans

It’s time to make some moves.

This is the week to look at your team, identify the issues, and rectify them.

Don’t sit on your hands, bite the bullet, and make the trades while some of these money-makers are still in reach.

There are players who will go up $2-$3 million this week, maybe more.

If you wait a week, these guys will be off and gone, and you’ll be staring at your dud running back who’s lost $1 million after another stinker.

One of these players who is going to make a stack of money is Javonte Williams.

Dallas’ workhorse running back has been absolutely feasting, and he’s showing no signs of slowing down.

He’s touched the ball 41 times, has 194 total yards, and has already scored three touchdowns in the first two weeks of the season.

These are elite numbers, and he’s currently the 2nd-ranked running back in SuperCoach.

He has a breakeven of -37 and is only $8,780,000.

He’s projected to make a whopping $3 million this week, and you should be doing everything in your power to get him into your team.

To bring him in, I am unfortunately trading out Omarion Hampton.

It’s unfortunate because I had such high hopes for Hampton, but he has failed to fire in the first two weeks.

He split carries 50/50 with Najee Harris on the weekend and at one stage caused a fumble.

This isn’t a good sign, and Harris is beginning to look like the more reliable running back in LA.

I’m cutting my losses early, and I’m quite happy upgrading to Williams.

If you are looking to upgrade Hampton to someone like Williams, you’ll probably need to do another trade to free up some cash.

For me, I had to look at my mid-range wide receivers who haven’t quite hit the mark.

It pains me to say this, but it means I have had to trade out Tyreek Hill

I was very bullish on Hill at the start of the year, and although he looked better last week with 109 yards, he’s the one I’ve had to let go.

Miami looks out of sorts, and Hill looks very, very frustrated with quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.

Honestly, at this stage, it wouldn’t surprise me if Hill finishes the season somewhere else.

So, who have I brought in for Hill?

The one and only Rome Odunze

Odunze has looked incredible.

He’s been targeted 20 times in two games and has turned these looks into 13 receptions.

He is Caleb Williams’ go-to guy, and Bears coach Ben Johnson has even said that they have a “natural connection”.

He’s only $8,050,000 and has a breakeven of -41, so this is the time to buy.

It’s entirely possible he goes up $3.3 million this week, and his price rises won’t stop there.

You’re getting the 4th-highest scoring wide receiver for a bargain, and he needs to be in your team this week.

Captaincy Plans

My message hasn’t changed… If you own Lamar Jackson or Josh Allen, then you must put the C on one of them.

Unfortunately, last week I chose the wrong quarterback.

I put the C on Allen, who only managed an uncharacteristic 22, while Jackson balled out with a 52.

I’m sticking with Allen this week.

He takes on a Miami defence that’s conceding 33 points per game, and I’m confident he will bounce back with a big score.

PODS

Troy Franklin (WR) $4,060,000

Troy Franklin has emerged as a genuine cash cow who also doubles as a POD.

He’s owned by only 0.9% of coaches, and his price is set to rise $2.2 million this week.

The Broncos wide receiver has history with quarterback Bo Nix, with the two of them terrorising defences while playing for Oregon in their College days.

This connection was on show in Week 2, with Franklin amassing 9 targets for 89 yards and a touchdown.

Although he won’t find the end zone every week, he’s certainly become one of Nix’s favourite targets and I’m excited to see what these two can produce throughout the season.

He’s a great cheapie option this week and a certified POD.

Daniel Jones (QB) $16,490,000

I can’t believe I’m writing this, but Daniel Jones could be HIM.

He’s only owned by 0.6% of coaches (and fair enough too), but he just keeps doing the job.

Let me stress that I think you should have Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen, but if you want to be different, Jones could be your guy.

He’s the 2nd-highest scoring quarterback (averaging 51.5 points per week), and he’s flourishing behind that Colts O-line.

They’ve started 2-0, and Jones looks confident.

He’s throwing bombs, taking the right options, and looking comfortable running the ball.

If you’re not sold yet, let me put some cold hard stats in front of you… 588 passing yards, zero interceptions, two passing touchdowns, and three rushing touchdowns.

He is a man in form.
