Niko’s Supercoach EPL Watchlist | Round 8

Supercoach and EPL expert Niko, reveals who to watch, buy, hold and sell ahead of Supercoach EPL Round 8

EPL

107 for the second week running, and another international break means it feels like Groundhog Day!

There’s no Bill Murray to select on a low breakeven, and it does feel like a week to perhaps preserve trades.

But there are injury news updates to digest and itchy trigger fingers, particularly with some very cheap Chelsea defensive assets looking hard to ignore with a good fixture swing.

Buy

Benjamin Šeško (£6.17M, Man United FWD, B/E -15)

You’ll probably notice a theme in this section.

You can bring him in if you have a spare FWD spot, but I won’t be starting him on the field.

I can see the appeal as a cash cow, and the fixtures post Liverpool are quite good and he should continue to lead the line.

I’m not very interested.

Jan Paul van Hecke (£4.67M, Brighton DEF, B/E -12)

I don’t like the trade in at all, but if you need a defender as a cash cow, he is the one.

I would not expect a double-digit score, and he should be on your bench if he’s coming in.

Declan Rice (£9.53M, Arsenal MID, B/E -10)

Talked him up last week, and he delivered with another monster 18 points against the Hammers.

On corners for a team that knocks them in regularly, and he is the type of player that delivers in this format over FPL.

Set and forget pick, especially with Ødegaard out.

Mason Mount (£4.49M, Man United MID, B/E -8)

A risky pick if you need a midfield cow, but another I wouldn’t be starting on the field against Liverpool this week.

I just don’t trust the starts and the minutes.

If you disagree and think he will start ahead of Cunha, then go for it, but this pick is not for me.

Marc Cucurella (£6.67M, Chelsea DEF, B/E 1)

Very keen to bring him in.

Chelsea have had their troubles recently with discipline, but they showed they are a good side in the win over Liverpool.

The news that Cole Palmer is out for another month is a blow to the team, but it obviously doesn’t affect them defensively, plus Ange’s Forest are a basket case at the moment, which also makes him a VC shout.

Robert Sánchez (£3.56M, Chelsea GKP, B/E 8)

He is at the basement price after consecutive negative scores and won’t drop any further despite the breakeven.

If you want a cheap keeper who has the potential to score well, he is the one.

I’m not dismissing the idea as I own Petrović, but you could also wait a week.

Hold / Watch

João Pedro (£8.16M, Chelsea FWD, B/E 19)

He is on massive fraud watch.

I hate that he’s already peaked in price, lost a heap last week, and will likely lose more, but I can’t sell him before Forest, Sunderland, Tottenham, Wolves, and Burnley.

No doubting he is much better with Palmer and Delap in the side, but I’d be surprised if there weren’t points in the next two matchups at least.

Mohamed Salah (£9.01M, Liverpool FWD, B/E 19)

Oh man, what a debacle if you started him as he’s dropped a whopping £6.5M!!

Just like in shares and crypto, don’t sell at a loss, just hold and hope he goes massive against Man U.

He’s got an insane record against them.

Ryan Gravenberch (£11.09M, Liverpool MID, B/E 18)

If he’s out injured, it will only be for a week.

I think you hold him, especially if you have decent cover on the bench to come in.

Virgil van Dijk (£8.39M, Liverpool DEF, B/E 16)

I’m treating this one for what it is, a long-term player.

Yes, Liverpool is struggling of late and still have Alisson out, but I’ll back them in to start keeping some cleans soon, and this guy always plays every minute and is a set-piece threat.

Xavi Simons (£5.68M, Tottenham MID, B/E 9)

Another long-term hold for me.

Still finding his feet in the league, and we have yet to see the best of him.

Bukayo Saka (£8.94M, Arsenal FWD, B/E 7)

He seems the most talked-about player in FPL circles due to taking the latest penalty, but will that continue?

With Haaland and Semenyo must-haves that leaves only one forward spot, and I’m hesitant to jump in despite the nice fixture run.

If he were a MID, he would be in my side.

Rodri (£4.15M, Man City MID, B/E 4)

I don’t see the value in selling him, but I do see the value in holding him long-term and hoping he gets ahead of his injury issues and repays the faith shown.

Sell

Cristian Romero (£8.24M, Tottenham DEF, B/E 16)

Spurs aren’t looking as good as they once were defensively, so I’m happy to move him on after making +£2.3M.

Anton Stach (£8.99M, Leeds MID, B/E 15)

Has lost set pieces to Longstaff and looks to have topped out as a cash cow, so recommend moving on.

El Hadji Malick Diouf (£7.63M, West Ham DEF, B/E 14)

I made the move last week and am happy so far.

Hammers could take a while settling into a new system, and that could mean leaking goals for a little longer.

The fact that you can move to Cucurella and profit is a bit crazy.

Micky van de Ven (£7.88M, Tottenham DEF, B/E 11)

As with his skipper above, I think it’s time to part ways, but by no means a must trade with a lower breakeven.

No clean in their latest three competitive matches, but Villa have been a little toothless this season.

Martin Ødegaard (£5.07M, Arsenal MID, B/E 2)

He just cannot get his body right and is out for over a month.

Hit the trade button.
