NFL and Supercoach expert Josh Clutterbuck goes through the best Buy, Hold, and Sell options in NFL Supercoach for Week 8
NFLAnother week is in the books and what a week it was!
Some big performances from the prodigal son Ja’Marr Chase and Lions live wire Jahmyr Gibbs have helped propel my team back up the rankings and back into the 500’s for scoring.
A few interesting last minute panic trades have worked in my favour and also against me at the same time.
I’m stoked with the output from Jaxson Dart however Brian Thomas Jr. was disappointing, something I should’ve seen coming to be honest.
Moving onto this week, many coaches are going to be struggling with the 6 teams on bye this week.
Notable players out include Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Puka Nacua, Trey McBride, Amon Ra St. Brown and Jahymr Gibbs.
Anyone else hitting the panic button?!
Embed from Getty ImagesFellow podcast panelist Eden Richards did tell us to save a trade boost for this week however I had to use mine last week to ensure I had enough starters.
What I will say before reading our buy, sell and holds for the week is think about how many trades you have left for the season.
We’re just about halfway through the season and there are still many bye weeks for key players to come so if you don’t have to make a trade this week, don’t!
I’d assume there are many people out there who can’t afford to do a luxury trade.
That being said, here are this weeks players under my microscope that could help your team or may need to be booted from your team!
Before I get into the buy’s, there are a few people whop have popped up on this list that I’m just going to mention as must haves in your team.
CMC, Jonathon Taylor and Bijan Robinson are the clear cut top 3 RB’s this season and if you can get them into your team do it.
Bijan in particular as he has already had his bye week for the season.
Pat Mahomes, Drake Maye and now Ja’Marr Chase also would’ve made it back onto this list and can be considered must haves but I don’t wish to sound like a broken record by writing about them again.
Embed from Getty ImagesCeeDee Lamb ($16.92m, Dallas Cowboys WR, 24 BE, 18% ownership)
A lot of people were beginning to wonder if Pickens had taken over as the main WR option in Dallas.
Lamb put those ideas to bed this weekend after putting up 110 yards on 5 receptions from 8 targets as well as 1 TD.
Lamb has been in 3 Supercoach scoring games this season and has put up over 100 yards in each of those games.
His only other game was against the Bears where he picked up his injury and exited that game without hitting the stat line.
When in doubt about a players worth, I tend to look at where they were taken in fantasy draft leagues which is something I encourage you all to do. Lamb. Was a consensus top 3 WR pick this year and he showed why on the weekend.
Barring injury, Lamb could be on track to have one of his most productive seasons on record with Dad at the Helm.
I’m not phased about Pickens as WR 2 taking away looks from Lamb, Dan knows who his guy is and he’s gonna get the ball to him if he’s open.
If you are bringing him back in, be cautious of his week 10 bye!
Embed from Getty ImagesRashee Rice ($16.72m, Kansas City Chiefs WR, 26 BE, 3% ownership)
Another guy who is poised to have a bye in week 10 is the chiefs number 1 weapon who is finally back form suspension!
Everyone in the NFL should be put on notice seeing Rice and Mahomes come out and produce at a high rate.
The yardage might not have been there but Rice did have 42 yards on 7 receptions on 10 targets as well as 2 TD’s.
He only played 41% of offensive snaps as well and scored twice!!!
He won’t be having a price rise for another few weeks and is 2 games away from a bye however if you’re in a win now mode and want to jump on board someone who I believe from this point on will produce at a top 5 WR rate, go get after it.
As Rice gets game fitness back and gets put into the offense more as the year goes on don’t be surprised to see him have multiple 100 yard games with multiple scores.
When you have the best QB in the Hague throwing you the ball you’re always going to produce regardless of how good you are.
When you’re the most talented skill position player on your team in that scenario, the sky is the limit.

Oronde Gadsden ll ($6.29m, LA Chargers TE, -32 BE, 0% ownership)
Talk about coming out of the woodwork!
The 5th round rookie had 9 targets for 7 receptions, 164 yards and a touchdown.
Which more then doubled his year to date stats for all of those areas.
Tyler Conklin and Will Dissly are non existent in the Chargers offense and it looks as though the bolts have found their next Antonio Gates!
Too soon?
Most definitely but there’s reason to be excited after he smashed the single game receiving yards record for a rookie TE in Chargers colours, taking the title away from ye you guessed it, Antonio Gates.
The Chargers have been more pass happy this season then anyone could’ve predicted and Oronde now looks to be a key part of that.
If you have the luxury or the need to trade out a TE and you want to generate some serious cash as well as score points, Oronde could be someone worth the risk.
Embed from Getty ImagesCam Skattebo ($15.11m, NY Giants RB, -8 BE, 14% ownership)
Righto I’m sold on the guy. Skat is an absolute psycho and may not have the longest NFL career playing the way he does but boy it’s going to be fun to watch.
Skat just continues to be this crazy downhill runner who lives for contact regardless of who he’s going up against.
So far on the season he’s had 98 carries (tied 13th in the league), 398 yards (19th) and 5 Td’s (5th) to go along with 23 receptions, 189 yards and 1 TD.
He’s done all that after being an after thought in the first week and seeing limited usage across weeks 2 and 3.
What stands out to me is over his last 5 games where he’s assumed the starting role, he’s average 35.8 Supercoach points and 38 in the last 3 weeks.
His last 2 opponents, the Eagles and most recently the Broncos, are regarded as either super bowl contenders or top defences in the league and he’s put up amazing numbers against them.
He’s only going to get better as he sees more touches and Darts threat as a runner as well will see defences hesitate and allow Skat to make more meters.
Embed from Getty ImagesJaxon Dart ($13.3m, NY Giants QB, -30 BE, 22% ownership)
All hail the king of New York City.
Dart has taken the league by storm and at this stage is proving himself to be the best QB in this years draft.
Darts biggest test was against the Denver D this past week which he passed with flying colours despite not getting the win, make better plays Giants D. Dart has a -30 BE and will continue to make cash.
I’m looking at him as someone to keep while my QB’s go through byes etc and might even play him over Maye and Allen at some points throughout the season.
Concerns will of course be raised over whether or not he’ll continue this next year but we’re here in the now and as it stands Dart looks near unstoppable on his way to scoring plenty of real life and SuperCoach points.
Embed from Getty ImagesKayshon Boutte ($9.75m, NE Patriots WR, -18 BE, 1% ownership)
This one is a risky upside play in my opinion.
He’s only had 3 games over 25 points this season, one of which was 47 against the Saints, but Boutte is set to make at least another $1.5m in cash.
I like the cash making upside and with plenty of byes coming up, Boutte could be a great POD.
There’s every chance that he scores single digits or he could break out for a 50 point game.
What I like is that he’s going to make cash and help me upgrade to a Ceedee or even work a deal in to get me one of the top RB’s after their byes.
Drake Maye has a bit of a connection with him as well and has found him in the end zone 4 times so far this season.
He may not necessarily get a ton of targets as he’s more of a down field threat however when he does make those catches he’s either getting decent yardage or a TD.
This one is only for those keen to have a bit of a risky shot at generating some cash during these crazy bye weeks.
This week with the byes you need to be thinking about your trades for the rest of the season and whether or not you see the guys you’re getting rid of as part of your future plans for your team.
With that I’d like to group Puka, JSN, St. Brown and Gibbs in the same category.
I’ve had Gibbs on the sell list in previous weeks which makes me look stupid after last weeks performance however after speaking to a few other coaches and taking into consideration we’re almost at the half way point and should be easing up on trades I’ve decided to include him in with these don’t budge on players.
All 4 of these guys have a bye this week but are considered to be top 5 players in Supercoach.
In my eyes I want them in my team towards the end of the season barring injury or unless I Can upgrade to someone who really takes off in the back half of the season.
Getting rid of these guys is wasting a trade in my opinion and if you can have enough scoring payers playing this week I’d avoid getting rid of them.
Embed from Getty ImagesTet McMillan ($9.51m, Carolina Panthers WR, 12 BE, 57% ownership)
Tet is coming towards the end of his usefulness however he’s got a low BE and will still generate cash during this rough bye period.
A great 5th or 6th option in your WR rotation, Tet should see more action now that Coker is back playing and taking away some coverage looks from the new toy in Carolina.
As long as he’s generating cash I’m happy to have him.
There aren’t really any other options around his price point that I like as consistent WR 1 performers.
If Bryce Young can get it together and keep putting together solid enough performances Tet will do well.
Until that stops and that BE rises I’m happy to hold.
Embed from Getty ImagesBrock Bowers ($11.85m, Las Vegas Raiders TE, 37 BE, 30% ownership)
He’s been on the sell list a few times but if you’re one of the 30% of coaches who still own Bowers and you’ve made it this far, don’t sell him.
He’s due back form his injury next week and will be out to produce for his struggling team.
The Raiders have missed Bowers and will no doubt look to feed him when he’s back to establish the ground game.
With tough games coming up it wouldn’t be crazy to see whoever is under centre check down to Bowers to gain short yardage.
We might see a few 7 catch, 50 yard, 1 TD games but you gotta actually be happy with that based on the 1 point per catch scoring system.
There’s not much point giving up on him now if you hadn’t before so stay the course and save a trade.
As I said earlier be very mindful of byes this week! If you don’t have to make the trade, don’t do it.
I’m sitting here regretting not swapping Henderson for Skat many weeks ago now as I could’ve had an extra trade up my sleeve but alas!
A few of these names may be luxury trades however it may be good to have them in the back of your mind for next week.
Embed from Getty ImagesAshton Jeanty ($13.45m, Las Vegas Raiders RB, 37 BE, 63% ownership)
Jeanty has run his course for this season and we thank him for his services.
After making $8.8m to date it’s safe to assume Jeanty has reached his peak for the year.
This past week he lost 700k and with a matchup against the Jags after his bye this week with a BE of 37 I can see Jeanty losing more money.
The Raiders are in one of the toughest divisions in football and have a very hard strength of schedule to close out the year.
Combine this with poor QB play and it’s safe to assume they’ll be playing from behind most weeks meaning the team will be looking to air It out and score quickly, taking touches away from Jeanty.
There are other options out there around the same price point who have a better upside like your Skats and even Judkins of the world.
It’s been an interesting start to his NFL career and I expect him to be a force going forward but I’m happy to see him go.
With such a high ownership percentage as well it’s an opportune time to find someone who will score more and help you climb up the rankings.
Embed from Getty ImagesNico Collins ($14.22m, Houston Texans WR, 43 BE, 14% ownership)
Collins has appeared on the top 10 most traded out this week and post podcast It was reported he could miss time with a concussion.
Even before the news of him potentially being out due to injury I wasn’t confident in him.
In fact I’m not confident owning any of the offensive players from Houston in Supercoach.
Stroud is in year 3 and is regressing like it’s going out of fashion.
The commentators tried to say on Monday night football that he doesn’t have weapons like JSN for Storud to throw to which is extremely disrespectful to Collins who has been one of the better receivers since coming into the league.
Through 6 games, Collins has only had 1 game over 100 yards and 1 game with more than 5 receptions which incidentally was the same game. Considering his price, BE and money he’s set to lose, now is the time to jump off and look elsewhere.
Embed from Getty ImagesRome Odunze ($11.98m, Chicago Bears WR, 51 BE, 35% ownership)
If you have the luxury to get rid of him, this is the time to do it.
After a hot start Odunze has fallen off a cliff putting up back to back scores of 8.
There’s every chance he has a break out game again but at this stage most coaches would’ve brought him in around his current price and will be losing money if he continues to slide.
For many he will be a regretful hold this week but if you van afford to offload him go for gold.
Baltimore have been terrible this year but I still don’t think that’s a good enough excuse to keep him around if you don’t have to.
Embed from Getty ImagesSaquon Barkely ($15.44m, Philadelphia Eagles Rb, 63 BE, 35% ownership)
I have to make a point of him again this week.
Get off the train now as quick as you can!
After putting up 9 points on his way to losing another $2m this week, Saquon has now lost coaches $9.4m this season and is set to lose them another $2m this week.
There’ll be a case to jump on him if he has a decent game and a lowish BE but for now if you’re an owner and can go to a Skattebo or someone around a similar price you should.
Philly had the pass game going this past week which is good for the team but not Saquon. Until both aspects of the offense are clicking it’s not safe to own Saquon or any skill position player from Philly.

Last week I brought back my favourite receiver Chase and was stoked with the 60 bomb he put up.
I also made a few last minute trades which were good and dumb at the same time.
The Egbuka to BTJ was a huge panic on my behalf and I probably could’ve found someone a lot better to sub in around the same price but these things happen.
I had to get Dart in and he did wonders for me.
This week I’ve made 2 more subs leaving me with 13 for the rest of the season and I hope to not use many next week.
With that being said this week I’ve done the following:
TRADE IN: Boutte and Skattebo
TRADE OUT: BTJ and Jeanty
Embed from Getty ImagesYep the BTJ trade in has cost me an extra trade this week.
I panicked and didn’t look at when he had a bye and also didn’t really think about what I was doing.
I just had Dart on my mind.
I’m running a risk again by going to Boutte but like Tet I’m happy to keep him around if he’s going to generate cash for me and get me better players towards the end of the season.
As mentioned above, Jeanty has run his course and it’s time for him to leave Clutzys’s Patriots.
Skat has proven each week that he’s going to produce. I love his thirst for physicality and it shows he’s going to fight for every yard.
Jeanty is a weapon as well and he will have an awesome career but at this point with the way his QB is playing and how hard his run of games is I don’t see him doing as well as Skat as the season goes on.
Skat also allows me the opportunity to potentially upgrade to a better RB for the back half of the season.
Embed from Getty ImagesCaptaincy this week I’m tossing up between Bijan, Allen and Maye.
Bijan has the perfect game ahead for him to have a Gibbs like 70 point game but they may ask get so far infront they bench him.
Allen has a favourable match up against Carolina and is looking to prove people wrong that he’s done which is crazy to even write.
Maye is intriguing as he’s playing out of his skin however that Cleveland D is no joke and will prove difficult for him to overcome.
At this stage I’m running with Allen but there’s every chance I swap to Bijan and will let you know in the WhatsApp chat Sunday night at the latest.
Best of luck this week coaches! Stay your purse we’ll all make it!
