Thommo Aitken
2019 SuperCoach BBL overall champion
Former Supercoach Big Bash champion Thommo Aitken goes through his Supercoach takeaways from each game of BBL Supercoach round 8
BBLWelcome to our review article at SC Playbook where we review the action from the previous round and see what impact it had on our side and what we can learn from it.
Round 8 has been completed.
The Heat pinched a win from nowhere, the Scorchers look ominous, and the separation between the top 4 and bottom 4 was clearly apparent in some matches.

Ins for the Thunder were Konstas and Andrews. Outs were Warner (injury) and Sangha (he will be very cheap and an interesting starting option next season!)
For the Renegades, Zampa and Elliott were the ins and Stow and Doggett were the outs.
Chris Green had his best game.
Only 1 over bowled, but showed what he can do with the bat.
34 off just 13 balls, regularly clearing the boundary. 61 SC points.
Looking ahead to next season, if the Thunder change their lineup with less spinners or the deck goes back to spin-friendly with his reduced price, he could be a starting option.
In fact, I find it kind of crazy that the Thunder won this with Agar top scoring SC-wise with 67 SC points (insert arm movement!)

Khan with the most Renegades runs with 46 off 31 balls.
JFM looked good, shame it was a brief stay.
Only true SCers know the pain of being dismissed on 19 runs with a great strike rate.
It wasn’t even a reckless dismissal!
Rizwan being retired out for Sutherland as they chased quick runs at the end of the first innings. Unfortunately, it didn’t work with Chief being run out at the non-strikers end.
Dorf with 5 SC points. He will be incredibly cheap next year too.
Hopefully, he can recapture his Scorchers form in a revamped Renegades outfit next season.

Unchanged Stars line up as they gear up for finals.
Two changes for Adelaide. Outs were Harvey and Wood. Ins were Sangha and Shamsi.
The less said about the Adelaide batting, the better.
Huge scores for some Melbourne bowlers.
139 SC for Curran, 117 SC for Stoinis and 97 SC for Swepson.
Overton and Scott posted reasonable SC scores through their bowling exploits. 83 SC points and 62 SC points, respectively.
If Scott is bowling more with their lineup, he could be a great one-week trade in with batting and bowling points up for grabs in their final dead rubber game.
Maxy 13 SC points and didn’t even get a bat.
Slight injury watch for Stoinis, but it does seem minor. We just want him bowling in this all-important final game against the Scorchers.
Short only 8 SC points, no overs bowled.

Still can’t quite believe it. How did the Heat win this?
Ellis in for Stanlake. Neser in for Balkin.
Hobart are now done for the SC season.
McDermott top scorer with 104 SC points.
No overs for Wildermuth again.
Hit and miss top-order bat is his role now.

3 overs and a wicket for Marnus and 2 overs for Renshaw.
37 runs for Renshaw batting at 4. Marnus in at 7 and not having much opportunity.
65 SC points for both
Bartlett can gather SC points! 3 wickets at 91 SC points.
Only 35 SC points for Neser.
Batted 8 and might need to put away those slow-ball leg-spinner type variations.
He is still cheap for the last round though!

Two changes for the Renegades. Dixon and Doggett in for Jewell and Behrendorff (sorry Timmy!).
Inglis out for workload reasons replaced by the handy Hobson.
All Perth batters made quick cameos.
The lynch pin was Allen, who made a cracking century, hitting sixes for fun.
146 SC points.
A dirty night for Gades’ bowlers.
The only real positive was Elliott with 4 wickets and being fairly economical.
109 SC points (great pick Maxy!)

94 SC points for Connolly and 75 SC points for Hardie.
All-rounders for sides that are struggling, not so good (Sutherland 30 SC points and Khan 20 SC points)
Seifert found some form with the bat, 106 SC points and JFM looked sensibly aggressive (for the most part!) with 87 SC points.
Dixon copped a nasty blow, hopefully he is all good.
Richardson could be cheap and a starting option next year!
