Supercoach veteran Stephen Defries reveals his trades, captains and point of difference players to consider for NBA Supercoach week 14
NBALast week, I spoke about NBA SuperCoach being akin to being an insurance broker. We covered everything from injury and rest management to tanking teams.
What we left out were weather reports and political unrest.
With 3 games postponed, it’s time to start tracking US weather systems. Unbelievable!
Owners of Peyton Watson and Jamal Murray were left frustrated, while those who captained Giannis could have been forgiven for deleting the app after he pouted for 30 minutes before walking off the court with another calf injury.
Luka Doncic was the 3rd highest scorer of the week with 132 points in just 3 games.
This raises the question, do we just start holding guns for 3 game weeks?
I think the answer is yes.

Popular purchase Bam Adebayo recovered from a horrendous start to post the 4th highest score with 131 points.
Immanuel Quickley was the surprising star of the week with 142 points, taking home 2nd spot for the week.
Maxey, Barnes and Wemby all produced; however, Donovan Mitchell and POD purchase James Harden were pretty disappointing.
For ‘The Closers’, we scored well enough with 1,126 but fell to 576th.
Unfortunately, this was also the end of our Cup run with the Denver Vs Memphis cancellation cruelling our chances.
A word of warning about the week ahead.
Miami play 4 games, and Chicago plays 5 due to their game from a few weeks back being rescheduled.
Not all SuperCoach resources reflect this.
For the record, Giddey is not a buy this week in my opinion. 4 of these games come in 5 days.
He’s coming back from a hamstring injury and is on a minutes restriction.
I don’t think he plays 5 games.
Luka Doncic is still in best in the world conversation don’t let nobody tell you he not one of the best right now pic.twitter.com/wVMZPmHZKh

With Giannis injured and Wemby, SGA and Barnes on a 3-game week, coaches have some decisions to make this week.
I think you hold Wemby and SGA.
If you held Luka, well done, he’s a must-own this week.
Cade Cunningham is not without risk this week.
He’s dealing with a wrist issue and is questionable on a nightly basis.
He scored very well in his last game of the week, so hopefully this is a positive sign.
Maxey and Jalen Johnson are both must-haves on a 4-game week; however, I’m not convinced about Avdija.
He returned from his back injury but reaggravated it again. I’m not sure he’s worth the risk.
Donovan Mitchell has 4 games this week and is a hold if you own, but not necessarily a buy if you don’t.
Anthony Edwards had a poor week by his standards. Does he bounce back this week?

Who do we take from Houston?
That’s the big question this week as their draw becomes favourable from now until the end of the season.
You could throw a blanket over Durant, Sengun and Thompson with no clear-cut favourite emerging.
In these instances, I like to take the player with the most upside, and I think it’s probably Sengun.
Evan Mobley continues his midseason resurgence and is a great buy.
Jaylen Brown quietly averaged 29 for the week and looks like a good pick-up, too.
Players worth mentioning but I’d be avoiding due to tanking and injury concerns are Embiid, Nurkic, Keyonte George, Markkanen and MPJ.
I’m avoiding the entire Knicks roster too.
They are starting to look good again, however, I have no level of trust in any of their SuperCoach-relevant players producing consistent scores.
Especially KAT.
Peyton Watson is a watch until we learn more about his injury.
He had a career night before going down heavily. Hopefully minor.

Dylan Cardwell is picking up some good minutes, but it’s hard to trust what Sacramento are doing.
Sam Hauser is starting for the Celtics and looks settled into his role on the team.
Great breakeven this week.
Jordan Miller and Sandro Mamukelashvili remain strong buys.

Alperen Sengun (HOU) – 7.4% owned
Not likely to be on this list for long, Sengun has had fairly low scores by his standards lately.
A few weeks removed from a calf injury, I expect the output to increase significantly this week. I’m in.
Julius Randle (MIN) – 2.8% owned
Has really found chemistry with Ant-Man.
Trusted in big moments, he has a ceiling of 40 on any given night.
Nikola Vucevic (CHI) – 2.5% owned
With Chicago on a 5-game week, this play has the chance to catapult you forward in the rankings.
Vuc has been sensational across the last 3 weeks.
The return of Giddey does present some concern with assist and usage numbers likely to come down as a result.
