Supercoach veteran Stephen Defries reveals his trades, captains and point of difference players to consider for NBA Supercoach week 22
NBAWe are almost there. 2 weeks until our first season of SuperCoach NBA is in the bag.
I’ve mentioned this a couple of times, but hopefully the powers that be will limit trades next season.
That is what makes Supercoach great and should lead to more diversified teams.
Game week 21 was a battle of the midranges, with coaches like me being punished for going the POD route.
‘The Closers’ managed 1170, which was under par for the top 10%. We moved backwards 144 slots to 722.

I’m set up really well for next week, as many coaches will need to move on their Denver combo of Joker and Murray with a 2-game week ahead.
Joker comfortably top-scored for the week with a lazy 186. Fantasy GOAT.
The 186 coaches in the top 10% who took a punt on the underperforming Sengun were well rewarded with the Turk knocking out 173.
Big green arrows ahead for you. Well done!
Scottie Barnes 144 and Jamal Murray 139 were the midrange winners, while Banchero, Bane, Adebayo, Avdija, and Miller all underwhelmed.
Jalen Duren was once again in the top 5 scorers for the week. He was set to be the most traded in for Joker this week; however, he has been listed as doubtful to play tomorrow.
The most traded in player, SGA, didn’t quite hit his lofty standards, registering just 110 points.
As mentioned above, Joker is on a 2-game week, which means he’s a sell before bringing him back for the final week of the season.
If you sold Luka last week, you will need to bring him back as he finishes the season with max games.
He has been suspended for 1 game this week, so if you don’t own you could wait a week.
SGA is probably a hold. He hasn’t shot the ball well for a few games now, and that will likely change quickly.
Those who took the punt on selling Wemby will also need him back this week, as he also finishes the season with max games.
Jalen Johnson has 3 games this week. I would consider holding, but certainly wouldn’t bring him in.
Kawhi has 4 games this week, but has been listed as questionable for tomorrow.
The Clippers are pretty well locked into their play-in spot, so there is no reason to risk him. Proceed with caution.
You could hold Kawhi, but with nothing to play for in the standings (they can’t really move up or down), he’s a nightly resting risk.
Tyrese Maxey made a successful return from injury, scoring 33 points. He played 43 minutes, which suggests to me he is fine.
I don’t think there is much of a rest risk with Philly needing to get as many reps under their belt with their starting 5 as they can before the playoffs.
Anthony Edwards could return this week. With the Wolves fighting for seeding position, I don’t mind the play if named.
Jalen Duren could only play 3 games, so you may want to look elsewhere for your Joker replacement.
Donovan Mitchell and James Harden are back in play with max games to finish the season. Harden has been the more consistent scorer lately.
How many Rockets are too many? I already have Durant and Thompson.
Now, Sengun is close to a must-have. Finish the season with max games also. I think you have to.
Like Joker, Murray will need to go due to the schedule.
Jaylen Brown has been immense but has missed the last 2 games with achilles soreness. I’d be wary.
Scottie Barnes produced his best week in over a month and must come into calculations. I’ll be looking elsewhere, but I like the buy.
Orlando also finishes out the season with 4 games, but I can’t trust any of their assets.
Portland has a 2-game week, which makes Avdija a sell for those who jumped on. Sigh.
Is Donovan Clingan our Joker replacement? 37, 40, 24, 26, 39, 11, 19 in his last 7.
The ceiling is there, but the last two scores are troubling. Might avoid.
Cheapies are becoming less relevant as our squads balloon in value.
If you own Harper, Williams, GG, Grimes, and Raynaud like I do, then all can be either upgraded or downgraded at any time to ensure you have max cash to spend in the final 2 weeks of the season.
Austin Reaves LAL – 6.7% owned
The Lakers are flying, and with Reaves the clear no 2 option, it may be the right time to jump on.
Luka has been suspended for the first game this week. Could be magic.
James Harden CLE – 3.5% owned
We are in the Harden honeymoon period at Cleveland.
Riding the good vibes seems like a good idea.
Julius Randle MIN – 1.8% owned
Randle is very hot and cold, and catching him at the right time has proven difficult.
I actually really like him as a trade-in with Antman due back.
Should allow him to play more of his natural game.

Best (4 games this week and 4 games next week)
BOS, CHI, CLE, DAL, DET, HOU, LAL, MEM, MIL, MIN, ORL, PHI, PHX, SAS, TOR, WSH
Good (4 games this week)
CHA, UTA
Bad (2 games this week)
DEN, POR
Joker to Maxey
Avdija to Sengun
Miller to Reaves
Captain Wemby
