Death, taxes, and the first week of the byes completely ruining my SuperCoach season.
Admittedly, I deserve some bad karma for refusing to plan for this period, but this is just too cruel.
I don’t even know where it went wrong for me. I guess having a whopping SIX premo’s out probably isn’t a good starting point, but still!!
This week, I scored a pathetic 1694 which moved me down 1912 spots to 3248th.
Don’t worry, I have a plan to escape the next three weeks with my head held high and my usual smuggy smirk still firmly intact.
But more on that in next week’s article hehe.

10 trades to get two more rookies off-field and hopefully have enough left to dispose of the likes of Jack Ziebell and Harry Sheezel.
There’s not much meaning behind the Maric pick to be honest. He’s $102k, should manage to get some games for this rabble of an Eagles team, and bringing him in this week allows me to wait another week for Mullin/Fahey to firm as viable downgrade options.
I’ve completely slept on Christian Petracca (159) this year and I’m not really sure why. He has a low score of just 97 this season and currently boasts a three-round average of 131
In a time of need, Jacob van Rooyen (106) delivered with the highest score of his career
Adam Cerra (129) has four 129+ scores in his last seven games
Admittedly, I would love to see Sam Docherty (96) return to his half-back role. Obviously there’s a direct correlation to playing midfield and being around the footy more, but he’s missing out on the cheap marks in defence that typically bring so many points
Patrick Cripps (89) looked on track for a monstrous score at half time but completely disappeared after that. I still have high hopes that he can turn his season around, hence why I’ll be looking at bringing him in after his bye which evidently couldn’t come soon enough for the Blues
The downfall of Sam Walsh (72) this season must be heartbreaking for owners. After averaging 115 in the first five rounds, he has since fallen agonisingly short of gaining FWD status and currently sits with a three-round average of just 90
Alex Cincotta (61) found his way back into the side and did enough to keep his spot up until the bye
Elliot Yeo (125) was monumental. I can’t recommend bringing him in though
Dom Sheed (119) and Tim Kelly (115) are just too inconsistent to consider
Shannon Hurn (31) went down with a hammy which could pave the way for an Alex Witherden (80) resurgence in the coming weeks
This was like the Tom Mitchell (132) of old! Important to not get over-excited though, it was against West Coast after all
Just the casual 30 disposals and 3 goals for Nick Daicos (123). Lock him in for the Brownlow now
Do you ever feel uneasy with how much you’re gambling with? You’re not alone, footy fans love a punt, but sometimes it can get a bit out of control. There’s help available with Gareth Wyatt and the team at CECAL. It’s nothing to be ashamed of, so make the call and get in contact here: https://bit.ly/3L2yG1W
Darcy Cameron (105) had the majority ruck split which is an encouraging sign. If he puts up another good score I may bring him in after his bye as a cheap premo option
The ‘no dic*head’ policy prevails once again! Jordan De Goey (55) will be spending at least the next four weeks in Bali after a dirty bump on Elijah Hewett (23)
Caleb Daniel (169) has a three-round average of 143!
There’s no doubt that Tim English (156) is the best ruck in the game. If he had a better bye, I would’ve brought him in last week without hesitation
After the lowest score of his season in Round 11, Tom Liberatore (122) bounced back with his sixth 120+ score of the year
Since Jason Johannisen’s injury, Bailey Dale (116) is averaging 122
Marcus Bontempelli (113) looked as though he suffered a knee injury in the third quarter but he thankfully came back on and played out the rest of the game
In his first official game with FWD DPP, Jack Macrae (108) did not disappoint!
Tom Stewart (127) was everywhere and even managed to kick a snag. For any non-owners, he’s the perfect upgrade next week after his bye
Mitchell Knevitt (103) is another rookie that we all missed out on!
Oisin Mullin (37) will see a small price rise the next time he plays. If you’re looking for a basement price rookie to downgrade to, he’s your guy. Just don’t expect any big scores from him
Although I’m still not fully convinced, Noah Anderson (120) IS a potential upgrade target after his bye
Just 15 touches was enough for Matthew Rowell (101) to ton up; of course, largely aided by his love for tackling
Jarrod Witts (99) was a monster in the ruck but could only muster up six touches at just 16% DE… Painnnnn
Don’t even think about trading Bailey Humphrey (99) out this week, he could be a season keeper the way he’s going
Rory Atkins (72) can make way for a premo now
Over the next 12 months an estimated 60% of all fixed rate mortgages are going to expire.Patty and George from Mortgage Choice SCW can get you the best rate possible. It’s a super easy process, so flick them a message. Save $129 by mentioning SC Playbook for a FREE CONSULT!
Bodhi Uwland (1) finally got his price rise! Worth the wait?
Rory Laird (111) and Jordan Dawson (106) went about their usual business
Keep an eye on Ben Keays (106) over the next few weeks… Back-to-back tons and in the last two weeks he has the second most total CBAs for the Crows midfielders. A large part of that could be due to tagging roles on Neale and Anderson respectively, but he’s well worth a look at just $369k with FWD status too
Oh wow… WOW. Kieren Briggs (128)… WOW. This has completely broken open the game of SuperCoach, for better or (in my case) for worse. If you brought in Briggsy, you’ve officially been given a golden ticket for the second half of season 2023
Harry Himmelberg (103) was back in defence but I can’t see it being a long term project
Tom Green (89) got a ton of the footy but recorded a game-high eight clangers
Stephen Coniglio (81) could just be one of the most frustrating players to own
With two sub-effected scores, Josh Fahey’s (17) breakeven has leapt up to 48 which will give us at least another week to figure out if he’s a worthwhile downgrade or not. I can’t seem to find SuperCoach stats but he averages 117 Fantasy points in the VFL this year so clearly he has no issue finding the footy
Against his former side, Tim Taranto (111) had 36 touches and a goal
If you weren’t checking the stats, you wouldn’t believe me if I told you Zach Merrett (137) had 16 touches and two goals at quarter time… Because why would you?! That’s unheard of! Thankfully for non-owners, after being on something like 105 at half time, he majorly cooled off in the second period
Jordan Ridley’s (102) three-round average of 118 has come out of nowhere. It’s like that concussion flicked a switch in him
Mason Redman (72) on the other hand… Well, let’s just hope this was a small blip. My brother’s reputation is on the line!!
Will Phillips’ (116) ownership may have dropped more than half since Round 6, but those who held him will be licking their lips at his -11 breakeven
Unfortunately, the ‘no dic*head’ policy also applies to Tarryn Thomas (89)
It’s been a fun ride, but Harry Sheezel (72) and Jack Ziebell (59) will be my first two trade-outs after I hit full premo
George Wardlaw (65) is an incredible footballer. Hopefully it translates to SuperCoach success down the road
Eddie Ford (48) didn’t quite live up to our lofty expectations but we were still able to squeeze out $72.5k from him! He’s projected to net another $32k next week, after which I’ll be looking to trade him out to fund some upgrades
