2020 NRL Supercoach runner-up Tim Williams analyses the squads dropped for round 15 of the 2023 season.
NRLLast weekend proved to be a rollercoaster round of NRL Supercoach action.
Players dropped liked flies, leaving many squads unable to field the full allotment of 17 players.
Fortunately, the tonnes rolled in.
Jahream Bula, James Tedesco, Valentine Holmes, Jamayne Isaako, Alex Johnston and Cody Walker were among the fairly popular players to hit triple figures to rescue many teams.
But it wasn’t without tragedy.

But the real clincher to determine how your weekend would finish came late on Sunday evening.
Many Supercoaches, including yours truly, had the opportunity to essentially have a free crack at the vice-captain loophole to double the score of one of the above named centurions.
For me, it was Cody Walker.
Or, they could roll the dice and captain Nathan Cleary for his dream match-up at home against the lowly Dragons.
Embed from Getty ImagesStinging from an Origin loss, it was too good to refuse for some. Nath wanted redemption.
Signs were promising with an early try-assist with a delightfully lofted pass to Brian To’o.
Then disaster struck, the hammy went…
The silver lining in his 16 minutes was that he did manage to notch 32 points.
Not to worry, injuries happen in Supercoach, you just have to shake it off and move on.
It’ll happen to a highly owned player you don’t have and things will balance out in time.
Over the next 12 months an estimated 60% of all fixed rate mortgages are going to expire. Patty and George from Mortgage Choice SCW can get you the best rate possible. It’s a super easy process, so flick them a message. Save $129 by mentioning SC Playbook for a FREE CONSULT!
But yeah, ouch!
The Cooma Stallions scored a respectable 1,100 points to rise slightly into 2,525th overall.
It’ll be a refreshing weekend where just one team is on the bye, so we shouldn’t be scraping together 17 players.
With Nathan Cleary injured long-term, and Dylan Brown’s spot for Parramatta in doubt, the halves position in Supercoach has been thrown wide-open.
Add in the fact Nicho Hynes will miss three of the next four games for Cronulla after this week’s tough clash in Melbourne, and it makes it even tricker. Origin selection pending of course…
Oh, and David Fifita and Latrell Mitchell are both out this week, in the words of the great Tommy Sangster, CARNAGE!
Let’s take a look at NRL Supercoach Round 15, with squad lists courtesy of Fox Sports.

Titans: 1. AJ Brimson 2. Alofiana Khan-Pereira 3. Brian Kelly 4. Aaron Schoupp 5. Phillip Sami 6. Jayden Campbell 7. Tanah Boyd 8. Moeaki Fotuaika 9. Sam Verrills 10. Tino Fa’asuamaleaui 11. Klese Haas 12. Joe Stimson 13. Isaac Liu 14. Kruise Leeming 15. Erin Clark 16. Jaimin Jolliffe 17. Iszac Fa’asumaleaui 18. Jojo Fifita 19. Keano Kini 20. Thomas Mikaele 21. Jo Vuna 22. Ken Maumalo
Analysis: I was so, so close to selling David Fifita when benched on the weekend.
Unfortunately uncertainty around availability of others players later in the round meant I couldn’t really afford to flip an active player with numbers so slim.
There was that, and a lack of ticker on my behalf…
Anyway, he scored 16 points in 33 minutes and now has a breakeven of 149.
I was also eyeing up a nice match-up with the Tigers this week which is very enticing.
That was until he got ruled out due to lingering concussion symptoms from the weekend.
Embed from Getty ImagesAt that price, missing the next two weeks, I’m thinking sell as he’ll plummet cash and could easily play reduced minutes again post Origin.
The Titans do play Sunday after the next two Origins which helps a bit for anyone thinking hold.
With the bye in Round 16 I’m not that keen on any players for overall.
Tino Fa’asuamaleaui is a fairly popular buy this week which surprises me at a big price of $769k with the bye looming and every chance to play fewer minutes over the Origin period like Fifita.
He’s been tremendous with a 74 point season average, and a five round average of 86, but not for me.
Maybe it’s head-to-head focused players targeting him which would make a bit more sense.
AJ Brimson returns at fullback, as does Brian Kelly at centre.
Embed from Getty ImagesTigers: 1. Jahream Bula 2. David Nofoaluma 3. Starford To’a 4. Tommy Talau 5. Junior Tupou 6. Brandon Wakeham 7. Luke Brooks 8. Stefano Utoikamanu 9. Apisai Koroisau 10. David Klemmer 11. Isaiah Papali’i 12. John Bateman 13. Fonua Pole 14. Jake Simpkin 15. Alex Seyfarth 16. Alex Twal 17. Asu Kepaoa 18. Daine Laurie 19. Shawn Blore 20. Aistasi James 21. Justin Matamua 22. Tallyn Da Silva
Analysis: Jahream the Dream continues to deliver with back-to-back tonnes.
Buying or avoiding him could prove one of the most pivotal decisions of the 2023 season.
He’s $570k having made a whopping $369k already, and remarkably sitting with a breakeven of -56!
He’s projected to make over $100k again this week.
He had 24 runs and seven tacklebreaks against Canberra.
The Tigers play Round 16 and 19, and while I was thinking he’d be a sell after Round 16, he won’t be going anywhere in his current vein of form.
Embed from Getty ImagesWith a nice Titans match-up incoming I don’t think it’s too late to jump on.
John Bateman and Isaiah Papali’i were super PODs at 1% ownership on the SC Playbook podcast last week.
Both delivered, one more than the other, with Bateman scoring 102 and I.Pap a solid 58.
With terrific bye coverage I think both remain excellent options.
Embed from Getty ImagesFriday, 6pm, GIO Stadium, Canberra
Raiders: 1. Sebastian Kris 2. Albert Hopoate 3. Jarrod Croker 4. Matthew Timoko 5. Jordan Rapana 6. Jack Wighton 7. Jamal Fogarty 8. Josh Papali’i 9. Zac Woolford 10. Joseph Tapine 11. Hudson Young 12. Elliott Whitehead 13. Corey Horsburgh 14. Tom Starling 15. Emre Guler 16. Nick Cotric 17. Pasami Saulo 18. Matt Frawley 19. Danny Levi 20. Ata Mariota 21. Xavier Savage 22. Peter Hola
Analysis: With Canberra on the bye in Round 16 their Supercoach relevance drops a fair bit. They do play Round 19 though.
Pasami Saulo scored 38 on the weekend and with Elliott Whitehead back and Corey Horsburgh returning in the middle he looks like the trap he always was.
With a -17 breakeven at least there’s a bit of cash incoming for one more week.
Hopefully for owners the big fella can jag an attacking stat off the bench this week to generate some extra rises.
Jarrod Croker returns for NRL game number 300, yew!
Embed from Getty ImagesWarriors: 1. Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad 2. Dallin Watene-Zelezniak 3. Ali Leiataua 4. Adam Pompey 5. Marcelo Montoya 6. Luke Metcalf 7. Shaun Johnson 8. Addin Fonua-Blake 9. Wayde Egan 10. Bunty Afoa 11. Jackson Ford 12. Marata Niukore 13. Tohu Harris 14. Bayley Sironen 15. Josh Curran 16. Mitchell Barnett 17. Tom Ale 18. Ronald Volkman 20. Taine Tuaupiki 21. Freddy Lussick 22. Brayden Wiliame 23. Zyon Maiu’u
Analysis: No round 16 coverage for the Warriors, but they do play Round 19.
Is it SJ time? Johnson winded back the clock with a vintage 127 point Supercoach performance against the Dolphins, to sit at $642k with a breakeven of 35.
While he has four scores under 43 this season, his season low of 31 isn’t overly alarming, so perhaps he’s the man at halfback?
Not for me personally due to injury risk and a preference for other halves, but it could prove a masterstroke and the numbers have been great.
Embed from Getty ImagesLuke Metcalf looms as a potential buy at $250k at 5/8 with a breakeven of -9, but my gut feel says he’s a trap.
Te Maire Martin is due back after next week’s bye and reports are that he will come back into the halves with Metcalf benched or dropped.
Maybe worth a flyer, but it looks a dangerous gamble.
Embed from Getty ImagesFriday, 8pm, 4 Pines Park, Sydney
Sea Eagles: 1. Tom Trbojevic 2. Jason Saab 3. Tolutau Koula 4. Reuben Garrick 5. Christian Tuipulotu 6. Josh Schuster 7. Daly Cherry-Evans 8. Taniela Paseka 9. Lachlan Croker 10. Toafofoa Sipley 11. Haumole Olakau’atu 12. Samuela Fainu 13. Sean Keppie 14. Karl Lawton 15. Josh Aloiai 16. Ethan Bullemor 17. Ben Condon 18. Kaeo Weekes 19. Ray Tuaimalo-Vaega 20. Jakob Arthur 21. Dean Matterson 22. Gordon Chan Kum Tong
Analysis: Turbo has been cleared!
Not many would have held after missing Round 13 and 14, but for anyone who does own it’s a big win.
Reuben Garrick has been named in the centres, this is a blow for his Supercoach scoring.
Manly play Round 16 which isn’t the most difficult bye round, but it does make them more relevant.
Embed from Getty ImagesJosh Schuster is $392k with a breakeven of -32. He’s an okay buy, but with the tonne from two weeks back to drop out of his rolling average I’d probably look elsewhere, but I can see merit in the pick up.
Samuela Fainu has kept his spot on the edge where he played 77 minutes for 48 points with an okay 40 in base last start.
At $226k, available at FRF with hopeful dual 2RF to come later, and a breakeven of -7 he looks a solid pick up.
Embed from Getty ImagesDolphins: 1. Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow 2. Jamayne Isaako 3. Euan Aitken 4. Brenko Lee 5. Tesi Niu 6. Kodi Nikorima 7. Isaiya Katoa 8. Jesse Bromwich 9. Jeremy Marshall-King 10. Poasa Faamausili 11. Kenny Bromwich 12. Connelly Lemuelu 13. Ray Stone 14. Herman Ese’ese 15. Mark Nicholls 16. Kurt Donoghoe 17. Valynce Te Whare 18. Max Plath 19. Jack Bostock 20. JJ Collins 21. Robert Jennings 22. Oliver Gildart
Analysis: No Round 16 coverage for the Dolphins, but they do play the more difficult Round 19.
Jamayne Isaako is the gift that keeps on giving for owners with a three round average of 104!
He’s having a sensational season, but with the bye next week I wouldn’t be investing at $791k.
Ray Stone has picked up extra minutes due to injuries in-game and players being out, namely Tom Gilbert, producing scores of 64 and 54 in 68 and 58 minutes in those two games.
Those scores were almost entirely in base, so if he maintains the minutes he could be a steal at $386k with a breakeven of 3.
Do you ever feel uneasy with how much you’re gambling with? You’re not alone, footy fans love a punt, but sometimes it can get a bit out of control. There’s help available with Gareth Wyatt and the team at CECAL. It’s nothing to be ashamed of, so make the call and get in contact here: https://bit.ly/3L2yG1W
Due to next week’s bye I’m happy to wait and watch his minutes and invest the week after and cop a price rise if he gets the minutes.
Connelly Lemuelu stunk it up a bit Supercoach wise with just 38 against the Warriors, but despite the high breakeven I’m happy to stick strong.
I’ve loved his base the last month disregarding last week, and I think with his dual position and Round 19 coverage he’s worth persisting with.
Brenko Lee has been named despite an injury last weekend, meaning Valynce Te Whare starts at centre.

Dragons: 1. Tyrell Sloan 2. Mathew Feagai 3. Moses Suli 4. Zac Lomax 5. Mikaele Ravalawa 6. Jayden Sullivan 7. Ben Hunt 8. Francis Molo 9. Jacob Liddle 10. Michael Molo 11. Billy Burns 12. Jaydn Su’A 13. Ben Murdoch-Masila 14. Moses Mbye 15. Jaiyden Hunt 16. Josh Kerr 17. Zane Musgrove 18. Talatau Amone 19. Toby Couchman 20. Tautau Moga 21. Jack Bird 22. Blake Lawrie
Analysis: No Round 16 coverage and no interest for me at the Dragons despite an extremely valiant performance against the Panthers out west.
Jack de Belin suffered a nasty head knock and is unavailable this week. He misses the next two weeks.
If you have cover for him at FRF I’d be holding, but if you need another quality starter I’d probably move on at a good price of $624k with a breakeven of 105.
Embed from Getty ImagesRabbitohs: 1. Blake Taaffe 2. Alex Johnston 3. Isaiah Tass 4. Campbell Graham 5. Richard Kennar 6. Cody Walker 7. Lachlan Ilias 8. Tevita Tatola 9. Damien Cook 10. Hame Sele 11. Keaon Koloamatangi 12. Jacob Host 13. Shaq Mitchell 14. Jed Cartwright 15. Michael Chee Kam 16. Siliva Havili 17. Daniel Suluka-Fifita 18. Taane Milne 19. Tallis Duncan 20. Ben Lovett 21. Liam Knight 22. Dean Hawkins
Analysis: Another great match-up looms for the rampant Rabbitohs.
I’d be very cautious in investing in many of their players though, as they have the bye next week and have a number of players in line for a potential Origin call-up.
The likes of Cody Walker, Damien Cook, Campbell Graham and Keaon Koloamatangi are all chances to get picked for the Blues, which if confirmed would see them likely miss Round 16, 19 and 20.
With Latrell Mitchell not named, I’d be selling.
Siliva Havili returns from injury.
Side note, Cam Murray is likely going to be sub $500k post Origin…
Embed from Getty ImagesSaturday, 5:30pm, Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane
Broncos: 1. Reece Walsh 2. Corey Oates 3. Kotoni Staggs 4. Herbie Farnworth 5. Selwyn Cobbo 6. Ezra Mam 7. Adam Reynolds 8. Thomas Flegler 9. Billy Walters 10. Payne Haas 11. Kurt Capewell 12. Jordan Riki 13. Patrick Carrigan 14. Cory Paix 15. Brendan Piakura 16. Kobe Hetherington 17. Martin Taupau 18. Jesse Arthars 19. Corey Jensen 20. Keenan Palasia 21. Deine Mariner 22. Tyson Smoothy
Analysis: Kotoni’s back baby!
96 of the finest points in a beastly display against the Sharks in Cronulla.
Now watch him score 15 against the Knights at Suncorp…
With no Round 16 or 19 coverage it’s hard to make a case for overall players to consider any Broncos players.
Head-to-head players not concerned with those weeks can certainly approach it differently, especially with a very enticing match-up against the leaky Knights defence this week.
Reece Walsh could have a field day here and is a genuine captaincy option for those who held.
Embed from Getty ImagesKnights: 1. Kalyn Ponga 2. Dominic Young 3. Dane Gagai 4. Bradman Best 5. Greg Marzhew 6. Tyson Gamble 7. Jackson Hastings 8. Daniel Saifiti 9. Phoenix Crossland 10. Leo Thompson 11. Tyson Frizell 12. Lachlan Fitzgibbon 13. Adam Elliott 14. Kurt Mann 15. Jacob Saifiti 16. Jack Hetherington 17. Mathew Croker 18. Dylan Lucas 19. Enari Tuala
Analysis: Newcastle do play Round 16, but their draw is fairly off-putting against the Broncos at Suncorp, Roosters (Origin week) and Panthers in Penrith to come.
Prior to assessing the draw I was pretty keen on investing in Greg Marzhew despite his fairly high tag of $658k, but it has scared me off a bit. Ditto Kalyn Ponga.
Regardless, they do look solid buys, but Brisbane have been outstanding this season.
Phoenix Crossland produced a bye round masterclass for owners a fortnight back, scoring 77 points with 46 in base in the full 80 minutes.
The return of Kurt Mann is a huge threat to minutes and he had two very fortunate major attacking stats in that game, so there’s no way I’d buy or play in 17s, but those who held can likely stick strong through till next week.
Embed from Getty ImagesSaturday, 7:35pm, Allianz Stadium, Sydney
Roosters: 1. James Tedesco 2. Daniel Tupou 3. Corey Allan 4. Billy Smith 5. Junior Pauga 6. Joseph Manu 7. Luke Keary 8. Jared Waerea-Hargreaves 9. Jake Turpin 10. Lindsay Collins 11. Egan Butcher 12. Nat Butcher 13. Sitili Tupouniua 14. Sandon Smith 15. Nathan Brown 16. Angus Crichton 17. Matthew Lodge 18. Drew Hutchison 19. Zach Dockar-Clay 20. Jaxson Paulo 21. Fletcher Baker 22. Naufahu Whyte
Analysis: The Roosters play Round 16, and have the Round 19 bye.
James Tedesco has rewarded owners with back-to-back scores of 118.
He’s now $657k, with a -30 breakeven. However, this match-up will be extremely tough, then he’ll miss next week due to Origin, so I wouldn’t buy.
I think the Roosters will be more relevant from next week when they face the Knights, followed by the Raiders and Sea Eagles.
Embed from Getty ImagesDespite a poor showing against the Bulldogs, Joey Manu will be hard not to own for that run, especially as he may play fullback next week with Teddy out.
But if interested, it can definitely wait a week.
Jake Turpin has caught the attention presumably of Reed Mahoney and Soni Luke owners, starting for the injured Brandon Smith, scoring 55 points in 62 minutes with 47 in base.
At just $266k he looks a decent hooking cheapie, even with rookie rake Sandon Smith on the bench.
I wouldn’t go culling a gun for him like Harry Grant, but if you need some cash and a decent back-up hooker he could be a solid short-term play.
Embed from Getty ImagesJunior Pauga scored 53 with 30 in base last week and has greater job security with Joseph Suaalii suspended.
At just $265k he’s one to watch this week as a potential cheapie for Round 16, but don’t go early due to job security, the tough clash, and the fact he won’t move price this round.
Billy Smith has busted me two seasons in a row…
Since the masses bought him, he’s produced scores of 24 and 37. The one promising thing about the scores is that his base has still been outstanding of 36 and 33 in those games.
Unfortunately he’s had -18 in negative stats in that time which hasn’t helped.
Hold through next week, then sell if he doesn’t come good. I’d be very reluctant to play in 17s this week.
Embed from Getty ImagesPanthers: 1. Dylan Edwards 2. Sunia Turuva 3. Izack Tago 4. Stephen Crichton 5. Brian To’o 6. Jarome Luai 7. Jack Cogger 8. Moses Leota 9. Mitch Kenny 10. James Fisher-Harris 11. Scott Sorensen 12. Zac Hosking 13. Isaah Yeo 14. Liam Martin 15. Lindsay Smith 16. Spencer Leniu 17. Jaeman Salmon 18. Tyrone Peachey 19. Luke Garner 20. Thomas Jenkins 21. Matt Eisenhuth 22. Soni Luke
Analysis: Penrith are another side I’ll be watching closely this week due to uncertainty around some of their Origin stars.
They play Round 16, so they’re very relevant.
Stephen Crichton will take over the goal-kicking duties long-term with Nathan Cleary out, at $512k he’s a genuine option now if he misses Origin selection.
Those who paid top dollar for Dylan Edwards would have been disappointed to see him score just 39 against the Dragons, dropping $61k in the process to sit with a breakeven of 114.
If he has another lowly outing he could be far more affordable next week at around $700k.
Embed from Getty ImagesZac Hosking has hit the skids with a three round average of just 40 points.
He has played 63 and 64 minutes the past two games which is encouraging.
For overall players he’s a hold till next week where I suspect he will play 80 minutes, then reassess.
Head-to-head players can potentially cut him early if not concerned about next week.
Not doing any damage outside the 17, I’ll hold Tyrone Peachey until next week to see what sort of role he plays with the Origin contingent unavailable.
Embed from Getty ImagesSunday, 4:05pm, AAMI Park, Melbourne
Storm: 1. Nick Meaney 2. William Warbrick 3. Reimis Smith 4. Grant Anderson 5. Xavier Coates 6. Cameron Munster 7. Jahrome Hughes 8. Tui Kamikamica 9. Harry Grant 10. Christian Welch 11. Trent Loiero 12. Eliesa Katoa 13. Josh King 14. Bronson Garlick 15. Aaron Pene 16. Nelson Asofa-Solomona 17. Tariq Sims 18. Sualauvi Faalogo 19. Marion Seve 20. Kane Bradley 21. Tyran Wishart 22. Tom Eisenhuth
Analysis: The Storm play Round 16, then have the Round 19 bye.
Eli Katoa was solid for those who invested, scoring 59 points with 47 in base in a well-beaten Storm side.
He remains a solid buy at $572k with a breakeven of 30.
Embed from Getty ImagesJahrome Hughes just hasn’t quite hit his straps this season, averaging 55 points.
Despite that, he warrants genuine consideration at a cheap rate of $554k for POD hunters.
Mitch Moses looks the better buy, but if cash is a concern he’s worth a look.
Nick Meaney continues to deliver with back-to-back scores of 86 and 76, taking his season average to 74 points.
He’s expensive at $683k, but with dual FLB-CTW positioning it’s hard to knock what he’s done this season with seven scores over 70 and a low of 38 back in Round 2.
Embed from Getty ImagesSharks: 1. William Kennedy 2. Sione Katoa 3. Jesse Ramien 4. Siosifa Talakai 5. Ronaldo Mulitalo 6. Matt Moylan 7. Nicho Hynes 8. Oregon Kaufusi 9. Blayke Brailey 10. Royce Hunt 11. Briton Nikora 12. Teig Wilton 13. Dale Finucane 14. Cameron McInnes 15. Wade Graham 16. Jack Williams 17. Braden Hamlin-Uele 18. Braydon Trindall 19. Connor Tracey 20. Thomas Hazelton 21. Daniel Atkinson 22. Jesse Colquhoun
Analysis: Shark season is approaching, with a great incoming draw with coverage of the next two major bye rounds in Round 16 and 19.
They do have a bye wedged in between in Round 17.
I expect a bounce back from Melbourne following last week’s defeat, and a number of players have high breakevens, so I think I’ll hold off for now, but there are plenty of great options.
Briton Nikora, Ronaldo Mulitalo and Sifa Talakai are the main players on my radar, with Mulitalo the top pick.
Embed from Getty ImagesEven Jesse Ramien is an option at a bargain rate of $509k.
His base stats have dropped this season, but the past three weeks have increased significantly with base scores of 41, 37 and 45. Big numbers if he can maintain them.
Naturally some people are flocking to Nicho Hynes as a Cleary replacement, but after this week he misses three of the Sharks next four games provided he’s picked for Origin, so not for me.
Embed from Getty ImagesMonday, 4pm, Accor Stadium, Sydney
Bulldogs: 1. Hayze Perham 2. Jacob Kiraz 3. Jake Averillo 4. Paul Alamoti 5. Josh Addo-Carr 6. Karl Oloapu 7. Matt Burton 8. Max King 9. Reed Mahoney 10. Tevita Pangai Junior 11. Jayden Okunbor 12. Jacob Preston 13. Harrison Edwards 14. Khaled Rajab 15. Kurtis Morrin 16. Chris Patolo 17. Corey Waddell 19. Kyle Flanagan 20. Jackson Topine 21. Braidon Burns 22. Blake Wilson 23. Franklin Pele
Analysis: The Bulldogs have a great incoming draw with coverage of the next two major bye rounds in Round 16 and 19.
They do have a bye wedged in between in Round 17.
Matt Burton would be an option in the halves, but you’d think he’d have to be in the Origin mix after being named 18th man for game one.
Jacob Kiraz has been named and as per last week will be a great buy, but following injury at training last week let’s just hold off and see how he gets through this game.
Embed from Getty ImagesJacob Preston has been rock solid all season and remains an indefinite hold.
With a breakeven of 46, Harrison Edwards has likely peaked at $440k, but he did play 56 minutes last week which is encouraging.
He’s probably worth holding one more week for the extra number next round, especially after being named to start.
At the low value of $478k by his standards, I’d be tempted to hold strong with Reed Mahoney if you can cover hooker this week in the event he isn’t passed fit to play following a concussion.
If he does have the week off it may even do him good after copping a battering the past two weeks, and the incoming bye coverage will be gold.
There just isn’t a lot of great hooking options to move to at the moment.
Embed from Getty ImagesEels: 1. Clinton Gutherson 2. Maika Sivo 3. Viliami Penisini 4. Bailey Simonsson 5. Sean Russell 6. Dylan Brown 7. Mitchell Moses 8. Reagan Campbell-Gillard 9. Josh Hodgson 10. Junior Paulo 11. Bryce Cartwright 12. Andrew Davey 13. J’maine Hopgood 14. Ofahiki Ogden 15. Brendan Hands 16. Matt Doorey 17. Makahesi Makatoa 18. Daejarn Asi 19. Jack Murchie 20. Ky Rodwell 21. Haze Dunster 22. Luca Moretti
Analysis: Parramatta’s draw remains great, playing Round 16 and 19, with the bye in Round 18 when every other team is in action.
They face the Bulldogs, Sea Eagles (minus Origin reps), Dolphins, Warriors, Titans and Cowboys in their next six games.
This to me makes Mitch Moses the priority Cleary replacement. That was until reports came out today that he’s in contention for an Origin spot.
So I’m keen, but maybe it’s worth waiting a week in case he’s picked for the Blues.
If he misses he’s the obvious replacement. He’s $760k with a breakeven of 14, averaging 70 points this season.
We know he has low scores in him evidenced by lows of 17 and 16, but he allays plenty of fear in the fact his ceiling is so high, with tops of 147 and 130 this season.
Embed from Getty ImagesWith Dylan Brown looking like he may be unavailable for a while, Moses will run the show entirely.
Brown has been named, but we’re expected to find out more about his availability on Wednesday.
J’maine Hopgood has a five round average of 80 and remains an excellent buy.
With Brown out, this probably add appeal to Moses’ right edge, aiding Will Penisini, and hurting Maika Sivo.
Reagan Campbell-Gillard makes an early return from injury.

Hi Tim – a query that may be covered in the weekly Podcast (excellent every week BTW). I am planning on trading Cleary to Moses and see that Moses plays next Monday this Round. The origin team should be announced on Monday morning – I think. If Moses misses origin – is it still possible to trade Cleary to Moses on Monday prior to the Eels game? As the Panthers play on Saturday, Cleary will be locked by Monday – right?
Hey mate, that’s a great question. No you couldn’t as Cleary would be locked. The fact the game will play after teams are announced does make things interesting though, especially with Burton also playing Monday. May present a few options.
