For those new to this column, each week I will dive into the ownership stats around the top leading teams to help Supercoaches get a better feel for the true ownership of different players. 

In the interests of time and getting the stats out, I will keep the commentary short this week.  With just four rounds to go trades in the run home may just prove invaluable – so use them wisely!

Let’s take a look at the ownership of each player eligible for Round 24 and then see how the top 100,000 teams are placed in terms of starting numbers pre trades this week – remember that these stats are prior to any trades made this week.

Fullback

The table below sets out the proportion of teams in the top 100, top 1,000, top 5,000, top 10,000, top 20,000 and top 100,000 that own each fullback.

We saw plenty of coaches flock to Latrell Mitchell in recent weeks who has been okay at best by his high standards.

A big decision looms for the 38% of Scott Drinkwater owners in the top 100 overall ranked teams this week with the Cowboys on the bye, particularly any that may have head-to-head interests.

There’s a nice mix of fullbacks at the moment, although plenty will be looking to sell off Clint Gutherson with a tough run home for the Eels and the Round 27 bye.

CTW

The outside backs may just be the position to decide the Supercoach race this season.

With 66% of the top 100 ranked teams owning Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad, anyone selling has a host of different high upside options to target for the final month.

Reuben Garrick, Greg Marzhew, Jamayne Isaako and Joey Manu are all heavily owned, but there’s ample opportunity to stray elsewhere.

Congratulations to those who played Garrick (by choice) for his 80 points against Penrith last night.

Kalyn Ponga is 100% owned by the entire top 1000 ranked teams overall!

Another big question on the run home is Cody Walker v Cam Munster, who finishes best?

HFB

It was mentioned earlier that CTW would be a moving position, but the big one will be the Nicho Hynes v Shaun Johnson battle.

Coming into Round 24, 87% of the top 1000 owned Nathan Cleary, creating a H2H battle between Hynes and SJ owners.

SJ got the win last week with 149 points, with Nicho not far behind also in three digit territory.

The 10-15% that don’t own Cleary would be licking their lips at his sub 50 point score against Manly last night.

2RF

There’s not a stack of diversity at 2RF or FRF as coaches flock towards J’maine Hopgood, Joe Tapine, Briton Nikora, David Fifita and Tohu Harris.

FRF

The big mover at FRF this week will certainly be Tino Fa’asuamaleaui on return from a three match suspension.

Just 8% of the top 100 and 11% of the top 1000 held onto the Titans wrecking ball.

Fresh to go, he looms as a POD pick up for the run home where he finished last season with a three round average of 90 points.

HOK

Unsurprisingly Harry Grant is owned by almost all top ranked Supercoaches.

As reserve, people are running a mix of Damien Cook, Reed Mahoney, Kodi Nikorima, Reece Robson and Soni Luke most prominently.

Should Grant go down at any stage, or get rested, it’ll make for a fascinating week in the hooking ranks.
