Final Word | NBA Supercoach Week 15, Trades, Skippers, Strategy

Supercoach veteran Stephen Defries reveals his trades, captains and point of difference players to consider for NBA Supercoach week 15

NBA

NBA Supercoach Week 14 was quite the mixed bag.

Popular trade in Josh Giddey didn’t play the last 3 games of his 5-game week due to injury maintenance.

I warned in last week’s article that there was no chance he would play 5, and on limited minutes, he was not a buy.

His teammate Vucevic was also highly purchased but failed to deliver in his 4 games.

There is a lesson here with week 16, just two weeks away.

Bringing in players on 5 games should be contingent on how close the back to backs and the likelihood of rest.

The most purchased player and captain, Luka Doncic, delivered with 162 points.

Cade Cunningham and Paolo Banchero rounded out the top 3 for the week, with owners grinning ear to ear.

Amen Thompson took out the battle of Houston this week with 108, with Sengun 98 and KD 95 not far behind. A note that KD has been ruled out for tomorrow.

‘The Closers’ produced another middling score of 1071.

We just can’t seem to crack into the top 400.

The time for some high upside risk-taking is fast approaching.

Guns

It’s a week to hold your nerve. And it’s a week to celebrate the return of The Joker!

Did you keep some money in the kitty?

Despite being on a 3-game week, he’s a no-brainer after scoring 46 Supercoach points in just 24 minutes of game time. Ridiculous!

Most guns are on a 3-game week before heading into a 5-game week. Of the teams that play 4 games, only Kawhi and Edwards appeal, but both have injury clouds.

I’m assuming everyone owns Maxey, and despite a poor week by his standards, he’s absolutely a purchase and/or hold.

Midrange

With Evan Mobley, Keyonte George, and KD injured/rested and Donovan Mitchell on a 2-game week, there are some players you can make a move to.

Jaylen Brown has been excellent; however has missed the odd game to injury.

Last week, I mentioned I’m avoiding the Knick roster completely; however, you could take a flyer on OG Anunoby, who had a stellar week.

KD may also be an easy flip to Sengun or Thompson.

Cheapies

Is it time for Pelle Larsson?

He’s not bottom dollar, but he’s going to earn some serious cash.

There aren’t any cheapies in the 3.5-5 mil range jumping out at me right now; however, we may need to select one to bring the Joker back.

POD’s and Super POD’s

Joel Embiid PHI – 3.4% owned

The ultimate risk-reward play. If he plays 4 games, you are looking at a monster score, but if he rests, you’ll be regretting the trade.

Julius Randle MIN – 4.3% owned

Has really found chemistry with Antman. Trusted in big moments, he has a ceiling of 40 on any given night.

OG Anunoby NYK – 0.1% owned

This is the sort of flyer that can separate you from the pack or send you tumbling down the rankings. After a huge week, I’m very tempted.
