NRL Supercoach 2026 Round 7 Wrap: 9 Things We Learnt

A FEAST of points led by Latrell and Teddy's heroics, while a Supercoach favourite goes down again, Nick Moon recaps Round 7 of NRL Supercoach 2026

NRL

Well, Round 7 felt like there was a massive party on, and I didn’t get invited!

Maybe I’m giving off a “don’t want him here” vibe because, whilst everyone was having a ball, I was left wondering what I did so wrong!

Watching Latrell go bananas against the Dragons was bad enough…deciding to take Cleary’s 118 instead of backing myself and captaining Teddy just about ended me.

Was searching NRL Fantasy late last night, wondering if I could make a go of things over there!

Just when I think I’m making a move, I take 2 steps backwards…but like the Spy said, we will get nowhere chasing those points, so when others are zigging, we need to zag bigtime!

Koula than Kaeo slummed to only 1373 off the back of Herbie, Cleary, Walker, and Teddy, but between the top and the bottom, it was pretty dire.

There will be a week where my 5/8 spot of Purdue and Sharpe will combine for 300+ points, but it wasn’t this just gone as they scored only 79 between them.

Lost 6000 odd spots and dropped to a rank rank of 41988. Tim has requested I don’t wear my SC Playbook shirt at Magic Round this year…

1. Latrell Slays the Dragons

What an absolute carve-up from Latrell! Breakout game from a bloke owned by 50% of the coaches, and what a time to do it!

Running against a hapless Dragons edge, he crossed for 2 in the first half and did the same in the second to go with a bag of goals.

Once he crossed for 3, you just knew 4 was on its way, and thankfully it wasn’t 5 for me and the rest of the non-owners out there!

Might have also done Shane Flanagan out of a job with what he dished up

177 of the finest points, making for a great Saturday. Massive score and one that had been bubbling away.

If it wasn’t him, it was to be Cleary. Even better if you threw the captaincy on him!

There didn’t seem to be much chat about a Latrell Captain, and that makes no sense to me.. Dragons bad. Latrell good.

Will run into Melbourne in Melbourne, and that trip just becomes a lot easier now running at a Howarth or a Meaney.

And to think my last move before the season kicked off was to switch Shibasaki and Latrell.. Thought he would get off to a slow start, and I could make a jump with a POD..

7 Rounds in and already has 4 scores of 100+. Shibasaki, well, he hasn’t been the same since he shaved his weird goatee thing.

2. Then Teddy Slays the Knights

Not to be outdone, Teddy sees the Dragons go down and takes down the Knights on Sunday!

Not with a Jousting stick (They couldn’t be worth more than $250 these days, depending on the condition) but with good, old-fashioned Rugby League – The stuff Teddy has been doing, nigh on 10 years now!

Seems the play from him has been pretty much the same each year. Start the year ridiculously high in price.

Have a few good games, nothing special, and we wonder if we have seen the best of him.. Then the leaves start turning yellow and red, and Bang!

James Tedesco arrives for the season!

We had a sniff last week with 71 against the Sharks but turned it up a notch on Sunday afternoon, particularly in the second half, scoring a try and setting up 3 more.

Also racked up 16 tackle busts for a lazy 32 points.

He was meant to be my captain, but when Cleary went 118, I took that loop and ran with it. Seeing my captain in triple figures was enough for me to make that call.

But as I have said, it didn’t only hurt me, it had me reaching for NRL Fantasy..

Teddys draw absolutely opens here with the Dragons on ANZAC Day, into a Queensland run of the Broncos, Titans, and Cowboys.

Big showing in the next month, and Laurie might have to find his number again.

Non-owners will have to find over 750k to fund the trade, but thankfully (Might not be the right word), a fullback went down costing a touch less than him.

3. Turbo. Hamstring. Rinse and Repeat

I have been doing this wrap-up article since 2020. I’m into my 7th season of recapping the games.

During that period, it seems I’ve spent about 30% of my time writing about Turbo.

Sometimes it has been good.. 2021 was easy, but to be honest, most of the time I’ve been writing about him and his hamstring, or his shoulder, or knee, or toes.

And here we are back again. A couple of games of real promise, and bang, the sniper comes and takes him out. Another rehab period and another trade.

Early shower on Thursday night as he went down for what is reported as his 8th hamstring injury of his career (Apparently, according to the @NRLPhysio, Foran had 15!)

Cruel blow for many owners who only jumped on in the last few weeks. Scores of 76, 72, 81, and now 10 in the last month haven’t really hit any great heights.

But as night follows day, it’s Monday morning, and we are trading him out.

Tom. I can’t say this for everyone, but I will be back. I’ve been hurt before, and I’m willing to get hurt again.

Not all doom and gloom, we will get a good 6 weeks of Tolutau Koula in the number 1 jersey. The more footy that bloke gets, the better. Parra, Penrith, and Broncos in the coming 3 weeks.

Could be a huge POD. Origin coverage, too.

4. Tom Jenkins, we have had enough

This part is obviously written through the eyes of a non-owner, but when do we get a break!!

Another week goes by, and he bags another double, easy 80 points, and gets more and more pricier as the weeks (and tries) roll by.

At just a tick under 900k, he is unreachable if you haven’t already got him, and the way the Panthers and that left edge are going, it’s going to be a long season!

Flew up above Isaako to land his first, and that was ok, try off a kick, but when he waltzed over for his second untouched, it was inevitable another 80+ points would be coming his way.

2 weeks of scores in the 80s is a small reprieve, but it doesn’t appear that it will last. Incredible 16 tries to kick off the season, with a Knights and Manly side awaiting, it could be 20 before there is a frost on the ground.

And imagine if that was To’o on that side of the field.. We could only dream.

5. Simi and Herbie

Mal Meninga has a poster of Simi Sasagi in his bedroom.

And if he keeps going about his business the way he has started the year, then we all might be making a shrine in our living rooms for him!

Back-to-back 100+ scores for the form centre of the comp, and his combination with Strange just gets better and better every week.

Bagged a couple of intercepts, which turned the game, and just finds ways to insert himself into the contest. Will have gone past the 700k barrier by the time you’re reading this. Not sure he has the ceiling of a Herbie, but it’s a hell of an easy watch.

And what about Herbie! The week off did him wonders.. Timmy, I might too have a week off and see if I can put in a performance like that.

Crossed for his second try of the year on his way to a massive 134. Won’t say a surprising performance, with what we have come to expect, but up against the Panthers in a sweltering Darwin was something special.

Just accumulates points with ease through his tackle busting and offloading. He racked up 46 points in tackle busts and offloads alone!

New Zealand awaits, and boy, do I wish he had come to NSW a few years earlier. Imagine him and Simi as the Blues centres.. Sorry Trell..

6. Makasini maka me sick

We sure all did go crazy for a bloke who had made a tackle bust. Had he not run over Dylan Edwards in the trial match, there’s a big chance that he wouldn’t be owned by nearly 70% of sides.

I fell into that trap, and like the definition of stupidity, continue to do the same dumb thing over and over again – playing him in my 17 each week!

Scores of 44, 38, and now 23 in the last 3 weeks are a worry, considering how hot the Tigers have been in that period!

Only has one score above 48, and that was in Round 2, where he crossed for a try and 65.

In no world can you play him with any confidence. And speaking of it, he may be looking for some after his final 15 minutes on Saturday.

I wouldn’t say it has been fun owning him, but I’ll be looking to part with him sooner than I would have liked.

7. Front row tickets to the Front Row show

My word, how good is this FRF crop!

3 players banged out scores over 100 on the weekend, and 3 more finished with 90+ – Are we at the stage of running a FRF in our flex position?!

Jackson Ford continued his impressive B+P run, running it back for the full 80 minutes, even with Barnett on the bench.

Scored over 80 in base and power, and must be the most relaxing watch of all Supercoach players. 4th 100+ score so far this year with no signs of slowing down

Toby Couchman, too, had a massive game, setting a try up to finish with 107. He will likely benefit from the Su’A suspension, possibly in the second row.

The Dragons certainly make some tackles, and he is doing the lion’s share. Will get a reprieve with Ryan set to be back after serving his 4-game suspension.

Terrell May now looks like a must-have after posting 113, after last week’s 108. This has come post his first 3 weeks, which were a bit down on his output.

Will be paying a premium for him, but it’s worth every cent. Origin looks likely if he can get rid of the man bag, and Laurie has a good look at himself.

Finding some attack and the way the Tigers are rolling through the middle, it has no signs of slowing up.

They were the pick of them, but it would be remiss of me not to mention the likes of Hau, Paseka, and Mooney, who keep finding the stripe, allowing their bank to grow.

The Brisbane duo of Willison and Talty both scored big, with both set to probably pick up their minutes while Haas is out injured. Talty has a knack for finding a try and might be a good downgrade option, especially with Origin looming

8. Farewell till July, Haas

Cruel blow for patient owners!

In Round 3, he was averaging 85 after coming off an easy 103 against the Eels.

It was set and forget, but then he picked up a shoulder injury and since then, has averaged 50 and now picked up a knee injury, which will see him sidelined for 6 weeks.

A sell and a costly one at that! Many would have already jumped off, but if you are one who held, he has bled 171k, and now means you can’t go straight to a May or Ford.

With him, Turbo, and Kiraz injured and Hudson picking up a suspension, it might be panic stations for a few teams.

The Broncos run through Origin is dreadful, so we likely won’t be mentioning him until at least Round 20, 21 even. At least he might be sub 600k by then!
