NRL Supercoach 2026 Round 10 Wrap: 9 Things We Learnt

Another week of ridiculous scores everywhere you look, Nick Moon recaps round 10 of NRL Supercoach

NRL

I am sure there is someone out there who, on hearing that Latrell Mitchell was ruled out on Thursday, decided to trade him and Faeamani and bring in, oh, I don’t know, maybe Marzhew and Isaako.

And maybe that person also owned Cleary. And Grant. And Teddy and that person is in front of their computer right now waiting for it to open up to see just how good they went!

Whoever that person is, well done. You have used all your Supercoach luck in 3 days, and you will spend an eternity chasing that high again!

What a week of scores we have seen. A lot of big daddy scores, and a lot of the Spy playing cricket, 13s, 29s, 21s, and 4s.

Will we see the first-ever 2000+ score? If it isn’t this week, I don’t think it will be far off.

Koula than Kaeo, finally saw some of the big scores despite not owning either of the barnstorming wingers. It’s amazing how much better you go when Latrell doesn’t play. Finished the weekend with a season high of 1532 7200 odd green arrows into 38154 overall.

Timed my run into Magic Round well! See you all there. I’ll have a schooner of XXXX and if you see me at Lefty’s, a Whisky Apple.

1. Greg and Gillespie – 2 unlikely double centurions

Raise the bat Greg.. twice!

Greg Marzhew cracked the big time, going absolutely huge with 207 to light up Round 10!

Not sure if it was Gillespie-like, unannounced and out of nowhere, but unlike Gillespie, I’m expecting him to line up next match!

Crossed, barged, fell, slipped, and skipped his way over the tryline 5 times in an absolute carve-up of the Dragons. They were that bad, I have taken my money out of St George bank for fear of Greg popping up and taking it.

5th highest score in all Supercoach, only has Trbojevic and Cleary above him from memory. Everyone will be rushing to trade him in this week, and I can’t see why not.

It’s not chasing points when he has a BE of -101 and takes on the Titans, Sunday afternoon in Brisbane. I might not be able to see by then, but I will be able to make out big Greggy crossing for his 4th by about 3.30pm on Sunday afternoon.

They do have the bye in Round 12, but after that, it’s the Eels post Origin.

And imagine bringing in a Knights winger, them scoring 120 and being disappointed.

2. Isaako impounds the Dogs

Whilst Greg will get a lot of the plaudits, one man set the scene for the weekend point smorgasbord.

Jamayne Isaako finally repaid the faith for some point starved owners with his highest supercoach score ever – a massive 178 all the way back on Thursday night.

Greg wins with the higher score and recency bias, but there is an argument that he is a better option moving forward! Dolphins have the bye in Round 13, then not another one till after Origin is done, and NSW have the shield. He goalkicks, and the combo with Bostock now looks as good as any in the short time they have played together.

He busted tackles, set up a try, and his boot is as reliable as Cleary, and looking back at his scores, he really should be owned by more.

His only 2 failures, if you could call them that, back in Round 2 against the Titans, don’t remember it, and then the Penrith game in the oven. Floor is about 60, so a try and some goals and we are looking at 100+.

Lock in for the Origin period and watch with confidence.

3. Grant fires back

It’s been a lean few weeks. Lean enough that I considered trading him out.

Things didn’t get that dire, and thankfully, I held on as Harry Grant finally broke the shackles that held him down for 8 weeks.

Preceding his Sunday afternoon training clinic, he had only 1 score above 64 since Round 2…

Not to worry, he only goes out and posts the highest score for a HOK in Supercoach history. Broke his own record along the way with a try, 2 assists, 3-line breaks, a few forced dropouts, and 40-odd tackles to boot.

Came at a perfect time for owners, who, for lack of anyone interested in the HOK spot, were looking at other options.

With Origin looming and a Storm side desperate to string some wins together, I can’t see Bellamy resting him too much over the period. So, he becomes a pretty good hold now.

4. Injuries

From the highest of highs, we cannot stop and think about those fallen guns.

Absolute dream weekend for Chemist Warehouse and their injury updates, with a slew of popular players going down, and many, like my mate Jon, won’t be making the trip to Magic Round.

Simi Sasagi reportedly injured his AC joint in his shoulder and had it in a sling for the remainder of the game. The sling was the only thing that could have stopped him on his run this year. Might be a couple, could be more, but a crushing blow right into Origin.

Earlier on Sunday, Sua Fa’alogo finally left the field, after threatening it 4 or so times already this year – (he bangs it on a bit). He was ruled out with a concussion while trying to stop Taylan May with his head. But new reports are that he has dodged a suspected facial fracture, and that he actually passed his HIA and is likely to line up at Magic Round…

Latrell was the domino that made all this happen as he picked up a back injury from carrying 57.2% of Supercoaches. Missed this week, the next, and the one after. A lot of money sitting on your bench to “hold”.

Brailey, too, picked up a head knock, ruling him out of Magic Round at this stage. Surprisingly, though, he showed up for the press conference afterwards and said he felt fine. All reports thought that was his brother Jayden. His 139-game consecutive run of games looks shaky.

Tommy Dearden battled on, but he will spend the next 4-6 weeks on crutches. Finally, something is going right for NSW.

5. Settle into the Couches

If there is to be a shining light for the Red V this year, it might just be the Couchman’s.

If they weren’t around in the middle, making upwards of 120 tackles between them, I can only shudder at what the scores would be like.

Toby – Dual FRF/2RF, the pricier one, finished with 69, getting through a lot of those points in base stats only. There is an obvious lack of attack coming, so expect these scores, plus or minus 10.

Ryan – 2RF only and cheaper (I am only doing this for my sake – I can’t even remember which one I own!) was immense, despite starting off the bench. Played 65 minutes straight for 85 points and looks like a solid play each week.

I think, though, at least one of them might be wearing a Blue jersey come Origin 3, with the number of players dropping off and the introduction of the 6-man bench.

6. Origin decimation loading in 3, 2..

Origin and bye planning, hey?

All that extra work to make sure you have a decent side to run out in Round 12.

We could be in for absolute turmoil over the coming 2 months! We have 6 players on the bench in Origin, so 2 extras that will not get to play the weekend before, plus the sheer number of players going down week after week means you might have a few more Origin players in your side than you realise.

Tommy Dearden went down with an ankle injury, so he will now be out for at least the first 2 games. This means players like DCE, Sammy Walker, and even Tannah Boyd are names that are getting bandied around for Queensland. Mahoney, too, has made a late run and is a smokey for a jersey, whilst Finefeuiaki and Luki can go and get sized up for a jersey now.

Purdue wasn’t on the radar 5 weeks ago, but is another that is no certainty to feature for the Cowboys over the period, but was one that you could lock down.

For the Blues, well, if Alex Twal keeps putting out the numbers he has, he too can cancel any plans for Wednesday fortnight, along with the Couchman’s who I mentioned earlier and who just ooze Origin pedigree.

Bradman Best could feature, Ethan Strange is playing better than Moses, and there is a world where Jack Bostock gets picked on the wing.

Trade accordingly!

7. AE Emergency

Code Red. Code Brown, whatever you want to call it, we had an AE nightmare on our hands in Round 10.

With Tedesco and Ponga going large for plenty who put the VC on them, it meant an AE dropped into the side.

Now, in years gone by, for those who are new here, we had to suck up our AE and play them! Not now, with the new age of T20 and tiny attention spans, we are gifted with the Flex and our lowest scorer dropping out.

The problem was that players like Fletcher Hunt, Matt Dufty, and even Arama Hau played very minimal minutes and dropped a single-digit score on us. Dufty registered 10 minutes for his 4 points whilst Fletcher Hunt was given the coach’s pity minutes, coming on for 2 right at the end. He would be cheering if he were on matchies.

They dropped out, but then meant we likely had to pay one of our other lower scorers, like Sasagi, Hau, or Walker.

They will become even bigger problems if they keep it up, as any cash they have made will be whittled away in no time.

8. Magic Time

The annual pilgrimage to Rugby League’s Mecca begins on Thursday with the Women’s Origin kicking off Magic Round 2026!

Come down to the Caxton carpark at 3pm on Friday to meet a heap of the SC Playbook crew. I’ll be there, so will Timmy, Clem, The Spy, and many others.

Please do me all a favour, though, and do not buy the Spy a beer! No matter how charming or friendly he is, don’t do it. It’s a scam, and he won’t buy you one back.

I’ll buy you one though…Just mention this article, and the next XXXX is on me..

Enjoy and go Manly!
