NRL Supercoach 2026 Round 11 Wrap: Magic Round edition

Nick Moon recaps round 11 of NRL Supercoach, featuring some Supercoach advice from the Magic Round fans

NRL

Well, that is Magic Round come and gone for 2026, and as I sit here at Brisbane Airport with bleary eyes, I am wondering where my projected 1700+ score ended up!

The Supercoach weekend, much like those who attended Magic Round, started off with a bang!

Herbie and Nicho both lit up Friday night, and it set us up for what seemed to be a huge week of scores.

But, much like the morale of many, the scores waned as the weekend went on. This was despite some blowouts and lots of tries scored.

We all laid our captaincy bands on Cleary, and he unfortunately had both eyes on the Blues squad, and if ever there was a player going through their paces, it was Cleary. Get in, get the 2 points, and get out.

Koula than Kaeo managed to score well without too much drama, finishing with 1372. My play of bringing in Leka didn’t pan out as well as I hoped. But better than a McIntyre play.

As for the SC playbook crew over the weekend.. Timmy was good early, picked up in spirit on Saturday night, but was unsighted on Sunday. Clem was at her usual best, but might have been caught in the Wahs wave, so had no reports on her Sunday, but true to form, she probably left the Caxton at 3am.

And bumped into the Spy on Sunday decked head to toe in Warriors gear! Which meant he made it to Sunday, a feat not achieved by him since attending Magic Round.

He was sipping on a supposed Whisky and Coke on Saturday night at the stadium (Likely just Coke, he wouldn’t have paid the $15) and said he had an 8% headache. Listening to him say that put my headache into the 80s.

1. Teddy fails to pull a rabbit out of hat

There wasn’t much magic to Tedesco’s performance over the weekend! The quietest game from the game’s number 1 fullback in recent memory.

Everyone inside Suncorp had him as the VC, and when he finished up with 20 is was barely believable. His lowest non-injury game since he was wearing Black, Orange, and White.

Didn’t seem to mind Laurie, though, as he fought his way back into a Blue jersey. Another number gone for the period.

2. Sua follows on trend

Might have been better if he had taken the Cat 1 and had the week off. Save the pain for owners sitting through that!

A wild ride for me as a non-owner, but probably an even tougher watch for owners after the Teddy failure.

Sua was a welcome addition to sides after he went off last week and needed to go big after leaving probably 120 points on the field at AAMI Park.

But the Eels were stout enough to just hold on every time he looked threatening. A late line break was the only positive as he finished up with 49.

It is a tough 80 minutes trying to death ride him, but he has only the 1 100+ score since round 2, and 5 of his last 7 scores have been under 68.

3. Voices from the ground

Enough of last week…We have Origin and byes now to worry about!

I went around Suncorp, Caxton, and the surroundings getting some words of advice from the Supercoaches of the weekend. Now some of these:

“Targeting 3 and 4-week blocks of matchups. Gotta look at who’s got a soft draw incoming and try and find the player that will benefit from that the most, and looking at what edges are running at who and target that.”

– Jackson. Scrum & Coke. 14000 odd

“Go hard on trades early and get your team right, and the cash will come.”

– Deviners. Harry in dressing gown. 9508

“Stop going for cash says the bloke ranked 34 thousand.”

– Brad. Diddy’s favorite. 34000

“Patience. Don’t jump the gun because someone looks good.”

– Sarah ‘Dyke Tyson” (Lost a bet and was sporting a Mike Tyson Tattoo) Spicy chicken. 17000

“Don’t loop. Taking a 120 loop is not worth it when everyone is red hot and can drop a 150+. That said, when Teddy gets 120, I’m going to take the loop. Work that out, people. (Teddy only 100 off)”

– Alex. Hanspwn. High as 14th before (Sure mate), now 24000.

“Should have taken the young front rowers. But because I love Holden, I couldn’t bring myself to bring a Ford in. And I got stuck with the cheapies who score you 50, and you’re stuck with them.”

– Mark Chandler. Locky’s legends. 40000.

“Poor captaincy choices to start with have killed me, and that’s why I’m 30000th.”

– Thomas Derlagen. House of Payne. Now he’s 29000.

“Don’t be biased towards your own side. Playing with your head and not your heart is tough, but that’s when the points come in. And you also have to watch the game differently. Look at who’s getting minutes when, what their roles are, and who might be on the bench to take minutes away.”

– Dan Queensbridge. ducks. 30000.

“Draft the South’s left side, and that will carry you to the top. Will be getting in TrellSeig next week, no matter what.”

Michael. Full Credit to the Boys. Draft Only.

“I regret bringing Isaako and Marzhew. Feel like we were pressured into doing it. (No one made you trade them in Andrew) And this is the year to be chasing points. Seems like when they are hot, they can go on a big run.”

– Andrew Bombala. Blue Heelers.

“Don’t trade KL Iro the week before he scored 6 tries in 2 weeks, and Jackson Ford is the greatest try-scoring front-rower in the history of the game. I worked that out early, but still didn’t buy him. Oh, and the Rabbits win the comp.”

– Andrew. Gingus Khan. 7000.

“Stop looking for Band-Aid solutions like trading in Soni Luke and Matt Dufty. Because once that Band-Aid comes off, there’s a lot more bleeding and there aren’t many more Band-Aids left.”

– Leigh. Leigh-d the Pack. 65215.

“Centres are the best positions in Supercoach, along with the FRF. Fullbacks are so last year, and the Knights are the hottest Supercoach side since Manly 21. Oh, and the Dolphins are about to launch for the origin period.”

– Jack. Bench warmers. 33913. Lachlan. Brambleboys. 36485.

“Gotta start well. Luki flew out of the gate, and I missed him.”

– Declan. Dangerous XIII. Don’t go looking for Declan because he only plays fantasy.

“Supercoach comp is getting a lot better, making your starting side much harder to pick and get right, and working out who to pick and stick with.”

– Joel. Up the guts. Top 25%, which means he is probably not going real good.
