Dylan Bolch’s Supercoach World Cup Watchlist: Buy, Hold, Sell round 7

Journalist and Supercoach expert Dylan Bolch gives his best buy, hold and sell candidates heading into round 7 of Supercoach World Cup

EPL

A score of 129 points for me in the quarter finals, which saw a rise into 291st in the overall rankings.

Teams are so similar now, so making the most of loopholes will be pivotal in the final couple of rounds to try and gain an advantage.

Here’s the players to buy, hold and sell ahead of the semi finals.

BUY

JUDE BELLINGHAM (ENG – MID)

If you don’t own Bellingham, he’s a must trade-in this week. The English star has booted six goals already this tournament and is the third highest scoring player in Supercoach. He’s the best midfielder to own by a long way.

MICHAEL OLISE (FRA – MID)

Second to only Bellingham in the midfield, Olise is a must-own this round. He’s one of the most creative players in the world and is red hot right now. France also have the highest expected goals this round.

MIKE MAIGNAN (FRA – GKP)

Pick the French keeper and sit him on your bench. If he keeps a clean sheet, loop him on, if he doesn’t go for Jordan Pickford or Emiliano Martinez.

ELLIOT ANDERSON (ENG – MID)

Anderson is a base stats play, because I’m not sure he’s got a lot of attacking upside. The Manchester City midfielder has only registered one assist this tournament, but is still averaging 7.5 SC points per game.

LUCAS DIGNE (FRA – DEF)

Clean sheet odds at this stage of the tournament are low, so targeting defenders with attacking upside is the go in my opinion. Digne has averaged the most points for French defenders this tournament and if anyone’s going to get an assist from that backline, it’ll be him I reckon.

HOLD

HARRY KANE (ENG – FWD)

Six goals for the English captain so far this tournament but just the one in the past two games. He’ll want to step up for his country on the biggest stage so I’m holding, although I can’t begrudge someone chasing Ousmane Dembele instead.

MARC CUCURELLA (ESP – DEF)

I think he’s unlikely to keep a clean sheet this week, but he’s just been such an attacking threat this tournament when you compare him to other defenders. I think I’ll try and loop him off the bench this week.

ALEX BAENA (ESP – FWD)

Baena was hooked after just 55 minutes against Belgium, which is a bit of a concern. Bench him and loop him on if he does well and you want to hold.

MIKEL MERINO (ESP – MID)

If he starts against France, could you buy? Merino has scored in both of his last appearances, coming off the bench for Spain and having plenty of impact late. Not sure I’d go there if he wasn’t named to start, though.

SELL

MIKEL OYARZABAL (ESP – FWD)

If you’ve taken a punt on Oyarzabal, it might be time to swallow your pride. The Spanish striker has scored just twice in the past four matches, while plenty of other forwards have delivered. On the flip side though, if you want a player to climb the ranks, maybe taking a punt on someone like Oyarzabal is the way to go?

PEDRI (ESP – MID)

Obviously keep an eye on team sheets, but I’m not sure Pedri will start for Spain, after being benched for the quarter final against Belgium.

UNAI SIMON (ESP – GKP)

Spain have been one of the most solid defensive outfits this tournament, but France are a different gravy. I’d rather go for Maignan in the opening game than Simon I think.
