Niko’s AFL Supercoach Watchlist: Buy, Hold, Sell round 19

AFL Supercoach expert Niko gives his best buy, hold and sell candidates heading into round 19 of AFL Supercoach

AFL

Please sir, I want some more trades, more?!

I stuffed up my captain and fell below par as a result with a score of 2,371 in round 18.

Plenty of players did well, but also plenty did poorly.

Typically for this season, there’s more injury and suspension carnage to resolve, and yours truly will be out of trades after this week…

Buy

Noah Mraz ($119,900 Hawthorn DEF, B/E -99)

I think he might be worth bringing in if you need a playing DEF due to the Hawks injuries.  He’s stealing my Sicily points and I’m not happy one bit.

Oliver Francou ($99,100 West Coast MID, B/E -9P7)

Increased TOG and some mid rotations for the bubble boy.  Great option if you need a MID rookie at $99k.  If he cleans up his ball use (47%) he’ll be scoring 100 with these stats.

Riley Hamilton ($99,100 GWS Giants MID/FWD. B/E -23)

I loathe his rat tail but he’s an option with his DPP coming off his rising star nomination.

Izak Rankine ($406,900 Adelaide MID/FWD, B/E 14)

He’s back, get him in if you need a forward upgrade.  Cheap as chips.

Bradley Hill ($513,000 St Kilda MID/FWD, B/E 14)

Playing the Sinclair role in defence and boy is he doing it well and winding back the clock.  3-round ave of 136 is insane and the Cats are a good matchup for him.

Callum Wilkie ($524,100 St Kilda DEF, B/E 27)

Fresh off a 191 score which included 90 in the last quarter alone.  Filthy role, filthy stuff.  Hopefully he goes on another tonne run to finish the season.

Lachie Neale ($536,000 Brisbane MID, B/E 63)

I’m a bit wary it was a one-off spike game against the Bombers, but he’s going well enough for this price point.  I prefer his teammate but still a good option.

Will Ashcroft ($591,500 Brisbane MID, B/E 67)

He’s been on an absolute tear the last month and Brisbane have turned it all around in that time too.  A young gun who does it all and has a massive ceiling.  Not sure why I’m a tad surprised with his current output considering he’s a back-to-back Norm Smith Medallist who has also won Goal of the Year before.  What a talent, what a CV already.

Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera ($652,700 St Kilda DEF/MID, B/E 82)

The money no issue buy of the week.  In scintillating form and selling him for his three-week injury was a massive mistake on my part.  You live and you learn.  That check side on the run was naughty.

Marcus Bontempelli ($575,500 Western Bulldogs MID, B/E 117)

If for some reason you don’t own him, you might want to consider it.  Would be a scary non-own against Richmond in two weeks.

Jordan Dawson ($608,200 Adelaide MID, B/E 118)

If you own Baz Smith and you have the $8k in the kitty he’s the no brainer sideways from Zak Butters.  I’m a little wary of a JJ tag this week but it’s smooth sailing afterwards.

Bailey Smith ($576,000 Geelong MID, B/E 127)

Getting enough of the ball it’s just his ball use that let him down last week (59%). Not leaving Geelong/Melbourne now and the fixture run is as good as it gets.

Hold

Hugo Hall-Kahan ($267,500 Adelaide DEF/MID, B/E 28)

Confirmed to return after being managed last week.  Low breakeven, DPP to cover two lines, consistent scoring.  A lot of reasons to keep him as bench cover.

Christian Petracca ($441,100 Gold Coast MID/FWD, B/E 96)

I know the form is worrying but he can turn it around in an instant.  I feel like trading him is a luxury round 23 or 24 play.

Jason Horne-Francis ($553,200 Port Adelaide MID/FWD, B/E 114)

We can’t be selling for a one-week suspension.  You should have someone like Fitzgerald, Francou, Herbert or Hall-Kahan to cover him.

Sell

Zak Butters ($600,500 Port Adelaide MID, B/E 174)

No point keeping a $600k asset on the pine in the hope he plays round 24.  Sell him and get the points on field.

Bailey Dale ($552,100 Western Bulldogs DEF, B/E 74)

Disaster for the 12% who own him going down with a shoulder injury in the dying minutes against the Eagles on the weekend.  Confirmed to be missing 5 weeks and a must-sell.

Wade Derksen ($248,300 Carlton DEF, B/E 55)

I think he keeps playing which is annoying as I’d rather use him as a loop option.  Trading might to a donut might be the play for some teams, to facilitate an upgrade elsewhere.

My Current Plans
