Six Again | NRL Supercoach Round 22, everything you need to know

From injury news to breakevens, most traded and captaincy options, here's everything you need to know ahead of NRL Supercoach round 22

NRL

Oh, the rollercoaster ride that Supercoach is.

The week started rough for many, with Kalyn Ponga being ruled out late Thursday night.

Cleary then came out and did Cleary things, on his way to an impressive 116 points that many teams were looping before full time, and those who missed out were worried.

Teddy then scored a hat trick for a big ton, while Lucas went down early with a cruel injury.

Speaking of injuries, Grant was the next to go down with a hamstring injury, while his fullback also went big for a ton.

And this all happened before the weekend had even begun…

Saturday started with the Raiders piling on the points against a helpless Tigers side; Simi owners rejoiced, while an early sub for Hosking was detrimental to his score.

The Dogs got the job done against the Wahs, thanks to big games from Preston and Kiraz, and a quiet game from TMM for the second week in a row.

Attention then turned to the Queensland Derby, with lots at stake. With many expecting a shootout, it ended up being a hard -ought win for the Cowboys, with Walsh unable to replicate his heroics from the week before.

Sunday kicked off with the spoonbowl, and a surprising amount of Supercoach relevancy to go with it. JC put on an absolute clinic as he exploded for a season-high score, while the Couchman twins just keep on working.

Such a crazy round of footy could not go out on a quiet game, and Sir Nicholas Hynes made sure of that. 185 points to end the week, and transform the week at that, as Nicho captainers rejoiced.

A week of chaos. Terrible injuries, insane scoring. This chaotic round of footy can only lead to one thing…

A chaotic week of NRL Supercoach trading (for those still with trades to use, that is).

NRL ROUND 22 PREVIEW

Round 22 will kick off at 7:50pm AEST, Thursday, the 30th of July, with the Cowboys hosting the Roosters, in what should be a cracking game.

For me, this is actually the game of the round, with many other contests being heavily injury-affected, and/or appearing one-sided on paper.

This week it is Manly who get the bye. It is probably a needed rest after a disappointing four straight losses.

KEY AVAILABILITY WATCH

Each week, we will list players whose injury statuses have changed in the week prior.

Keep your eyes out for Team Lists on a Tuesday afternoon, where we will know a lot more about most of these injuries.

Tom Dearden (NQC): Suffered a lower leg injury that is likely to keep him out a few weeks, if not the rest of the season.

Kalyn Ponga (NEW): Was a late out last week with quad tightness; if just tightness, he would be expected to return this week.

Dylan Brown (NEW): Suffered a devastating ACL injury that will rule him out for the rest of the year.

Dylan Lucas (NEW): Suffered a gruesome ankle injury that will rule him out for the rest of the season.

Dylan Edwards (PEN): Missed last week with a minor shoulder injury, but expected to return as soon as this week.

Tallis Duncan (STH): Suffered a hamstring injury and is expected to miss another week.

Brandon Smith (STH): Suffered discomfort in both calves and potential injuries; no confirmation yet.

Noah Martin (CBR): Suffered a quad strain in training with injury timeline yet to be confirmed.

NRL SUPERCOACH BREAKEVENS

Breakevens are the score required for the player to either make money or lose money.

Generally speaking, when looking at who to trade in, heavily consider the players with low breakevens, as they will help make your team money.

Similarly, if you have some players with high breakevens in your team, maybe it’s time to consider cutting ties to ensure your team doesn’t lose too much value.
