The big winners in GW1 were those who paid up for Raya, took a punt on Hinshelwood or De Cuyper, and hit the Calafiori VC.

I did none of these, but I still managed to crack three figures with a 116 thanks to Palmer (26), Calafiori (19) and Ødegaard (19). 

Haaland as captain stung, as did playing Palestra over Vuskovic, but we move on to GW2.

Traditionally, this is a wait-and-see week as player price movements aren’t here yet, unless you have an injury to deal with or a major restructure is required and you need more than 3 trades for this next week.

We need to learn from our mistakes, but we also need to learn from other people’s mistakes. 

Last season, our very own Harry West traded into Ballard after his goal and 30 points in GW1, who then proceeded to get injured and miss multiple games. 

Let’s hold off pressing that red T button and wait for the bubble; we can’t overreact too much to one week’s data.

Big Watch

Josh King (£3.9M, Fulham MID, B/E -8)

This one must’ve hurt Molchy and Matty Jurman after owning him early last season. 

To be fair, his goal should have been saved by Sánchez, but points are points, and he’ll make big cash from this low price point.

Myles Lewis-Skelly (£3.9M, Arsenal DEF, B/E -4)

Started in midfield and scored double figures. 

Big watch on the severity of Bruno G’s injury.

Dominik Szoboszlai (£10.42M, Liverpool MID, B/E -1)

Looks like he’s the number one penalty taker over Isak. 

I thought it might’ve been due to the occasion, but he came out and said he’s been practicing them all pre-season. 

Could be our solid rock in midfield again.

João Pedro (£8.98M, Chelsea FWD, B/E -1)

Scored inside 30 seconds, which was a dream start for owners. 

Chelsea forward assets look gold early, but I’ll probably eat a price rise and wait for the Arsenal matchup to pass first.

Rayan Cherki (£9.17M, Manchester City MID, B/E 1)

If he gets the start over Foden this weekend (which he should) and plays well again, he will become an immediate must-own next week with Coventry at home and a negative breakeven.

Florian Wirtz (£6.97M, Liverpool MID, B/E 7)

He looks like the one to downgrade next week after getting subbed off on 63 minutes, but watch this space.

Sell

Patrick Dorgu (£8.44M, Manchester United DEF, B/E 17)

That was a tough pill to swallow for owners. 

Starting LW against a promoted side and dishing up a negative score after a yellow card and early sub. 

Another promoted side at home this time could bring points. 

I’d probably hold if he’s starting again and sell next week, as Rashford might be here to stay, but I can’t fault people getting rid of him early.

My Plans

Holding strong and saving trades with a likely 2-5-3 formation. 

I’m not moving off Bruno or Haaland and waiting to see if Palestra gets into the Chelsea side after his hiccup at training ruled him out. 

Lammens is on the chopping block if I don’t see drastic improvement from the red side of Manchester.
