EPL Supercoach | Buy, Hold, Sell Gameweek 5

Firstly, apologies for the lack of an article last week, as I was away with my family on the sunny Gold Coast.  I needed that break.

Secondly, I’m cooking.  110 in GW3 and 137 in GW4 sees me climb rank into 355 overall.

It was a very nice double from Schade (26) that helped my rank rise, but I needed to trade to take it, as I benched him.  

A 500+ rank rise without owning popular players such as Raya (21) and Joao Pedro (19).  I may need to correct that this week.

Buy

Mohamed Belloumi (£7.85M, Hull City FWD, B/E -10)

The fixtures are good enough if you want to ride the price wave.  I’d had a plan to jump off, though.

Leif Davis (£6.68M, Ipswich Town DEF, B/E -7)

One of the most attacking defenders in the game.  Everton and Fulham next are good opportunities for more points.

Gianluigi Donnarumma (£7.25M, Manchester City GKP, B/E -4)

If you can’t afford Raya, he’s probably the next best option.  His negative score, where he gave a penalty away, will drop out this week, and he made some great saves in the derby. 

Kinsky, Pickford and Becker are other cheaper options if you need a keeper.

Josh King (£7.12M, Fulham MID, B/E -3)

Scoring 8 off baseline stats is nice band hosting Man United will be no fear. 

Following that come the three promoted teams in a row, and then Villa and Newcastle, who are struggling.

David Raya (£9.32M, Arsenal GKP, B/E 1)

My plan to get him in would have worked out so much better if he didn’t manifest into Superman and save that bloody penalty. 

Probably the must-have I don’t have.

João Pedro (£10.39M, Chelsea FWD, B/E 10)

Three big double-digit scores in four to start the season. 

I don’t think it will hurt too much to wait a week as a non-owner though, as he’s been withdrawn from the Brazil squad through injury, which may see a DNP, benching, or reduced minutes this week.

Morgan Gibbs-White (£11.40M, Nottingham Forest MID, B/E 13)

I love him this week for Coventry at home if you can make it work.  It might mean selling Bruno Fernandes or Ryan Cherki, though.

Hold

Jayden Bogle (£10.28M, Leeds Defender, B/E -15)

Extremely fortunate to get awarded the goal, but he is getting in very attacking positions.  Already gone up £4.5M in value, which is crazy. 

If he didn’t have Arsenal away in the next two, maybe, but he does.

Maxim De Cuyper (£8.20M, Brighton DEF, B/E -6)

Arsenal next, and Mitoma not far off returning makes him a don’t-buy, don’t-sell proposition for me.

Marcus Tavernier (£10.74M, Bournemouth MID, B/E -3)

Three goals in four, so his form is red hot right now. I’m leaning to holding off as I’m not expecting that level of output to continue against tougher opponents Liverpool and Chelsea, who are the next two. 

A target from GW9 onwards for me.

Anan Khalaili (£6.82M, Crystal Palace FWD, B/E -3)

Very interesting pick as he’s a forward playing as a wing-back. He gets more baseline stats as a result but no clean sheet points (if they come). 

The reverse OOP than we want to see, so I’m passing.

Pascal Groß (£10.83M, Brighton MID, B/E -1)

He’s probably good enough to be a season-long keeper, but I’m not trading him in with Arsenal, Liverpool and Man City in the next five. 

Plus, Europe is around the corner for Brighton, and then the potential for rotation.

Alexander Isak (£8.10M, Liverpool FWD, B/E 1)

I thought we’d see better from him and Liverpool against Fulham, but holding for another week seems a good play. 

It should be an attacking game against the Cherries.

Ezri Konsa (£5.59M, Arsenal DEF, B/E 2)

I’d be surprised if he doesn’t keep starting alongside Gabriel. Easily plays for the best defence in the league and he’s cheap.

Bruno Fernandes (£16.22M, Manchester United MID, B/E 39)

One of the biggest breakevens we’ve seen, with his hat-trick score of 47 dropping out this week. I’m torn. 

If it was a tougher matchup, I’d be keener to sell and buy again later, but trades are vital, and he could go huge against Fulham.  Holding and ignoring the price drop.

Sell

Anthony Elanga (£5.53M, Newcastle United FWD, B/E -2)

The news hasn’t dropped yet, but it seems as though he has done his ACL and will be out for a significant amount of time.  

Jeremie Frimpong (£4.05M, Liverpool DEF, B/E 4)

He’s still in 17% of teams somehow.  He played the full 90 mins midweek, and that surely means he’s on the bench again for the weekend. Sell him.

Konstantinos Tzolakis (£7.48M, Hull City GKP, B/E 6)

Hull’s xGA is 1.68 per match, and they’ve only conceded twice for the season.  I don’t think that can keep that up like they did last season in the Championship because the quality is much better now. 

I expect them to concede at St James’ Park, and I think he’s close enough to being topped out in price that he can go for a more long-term option.

Florian Wirtz (£7.25M, Liverpool MID, B/E 9)

He’s in a whopping 36% of teams.  His form is just not there to warrant those numbers, and we may see a little mix-up in the front half from Iraola that includes a benching of Wirtz. 

Plenty of fans and pundits are calling for it.

Semi Ajayi (£7.03M, Hull City DEF, B/E 11)

I think they could do well at St James’ Park, but safer to bank the cash and upgrade him.

Myles Lewis-Skelly (£4.62M, Arsenal MID, B/E 12)

Only two points in his last two starts. Hooked at the half for Bruno G, who produced the goods. 

Time is up with this pick, and he’s made stuff all.  Trade him.

Amar Dedic (£6.39M, Newcastle DEF, B/E 17)

He always seemed a short-term play with Livramento coming back from injury, but perhaps that time has come a lot quicker than expected. 

Time to sell after he only saw 58mins in the Leeds smashing and a negative score.

Rayan Cherki (£11.14M, Manchester City MID, B/E 24)

I’m a little biased as I sold him last week, but I think it’s time to go.  He’s been threatened with being pulled at half, and then was on the weekend when they went one man down. 

The minutes are just not secure enough with Enzo and Ndiaye joining the club.

Phil Foden (£7.78M, Manchester City MID, B/E 26)

Saw red for lashing out at Bruno in the derby and suspended for the next two gameweeks.  You could hold and use him to loop this week, but he needs to go sooner rather than later.
