EPL Supercoach Final Word | Gameweek 6 trades, fixtures, captains

Quantium data analyst and 23rd-placed EPL Supercoach finisher Harry West gives his thoughts on trades, fixtures, and captains ahead of Gameweek 6

EPL

93 points, and up to 2.7k overall. An ok week, and it’s always good to get a head-to-head win over the big boss Tim in our league.

His big brain move of bringing in Shea Charles, who scored 11, almost all in blocks, had me worried though!

I used a boost to trade out Bruno, and it didn’t really pay off. Szoboszlai (2) was the replacement, and Muñoz (4) wasn’t much better with the defender upgrade.

Branthwaite scored 13 on debut, and Barnes dropped a 20, and those two carried the round.

Plenty of injury flags this week, so let’s get into it.

Arsenal are the standout fixture of the week, even though Leeds have looked strong. They have the highest xG (2.10) and the highest clean sheet chance (49%) on the slate.

Fulham only have 1.49 expected goals, which surprised me. I’m very bullish on them regardless, because their next three fixtures are against the three promoted sides.

It’s a very poor week for clean sheets. Only Everton (watch Tarkowski dominate again) and Arsenal look strong. That could make it a good week for a 2 at the back strategy.

Trade ins

Manzambi (£4.5m) was absolutely electric at the World Cup and brought that form into his first PL match. I hope someone took my Discord advice and jumped on last week. At £4.5m, he’s going to make great coin.

Saka (£11m) is probably the strongest captaincy option of the week, or VC given Arsenal play first. I’m not a huge fan of picking wingers in my forward slots, and Arsenal have a lot of games coming up. The gaps between their games are 2 days, 4 days, 2 days, 2 days, 2 days, and that screams rotation.

He might also lose penalties if Gyokeres plays now that Havertz is out. Don’t let me talk you out of it; he will be elite, but I wouldn’t break my team to get him.

Barnes (£8.34m): I obviously like the pick. Coventry, Villa, Palace, Everton and Fulham in the next five is amazing. But Newcastle have had the 4th easiest fixtures to start the season, and their expected goals rank 16th in the league.

I don’t expect them to start scoring 2+ goals every week. He’ll make good money, but he’s tough to buy over Manzambi.

You won’t have heard of Affengruber (£5.5m), but he scored 12 and 8 against Liverpool and United, averaging 5 base stats per game.

Yes, their defensive stats have been horrid, but they had the 4th hardest fixtures to start the season. With the Fulham run coming up, I expect him to make money.

Garcia (£5.04m) and King (£7.66m) are two great attacking plays for the Fulham fixtures. Picking up one of them is a great shout, and you want to do it before the haul comes in.

I can’t believe 173 coaches are trading King out this week. Reverse that immediately.

Trade outs

I have to admit when I’m wrong. I said Sangare (£4.56m) was a must-have after Week 1, and that was a shocker. He’s a must-trade.

Manzambi is the same price, so it’s an easy switch, and one every Sangare owner should be looking at.

Brobbey (£6.22m) is a trade out, not a trade in, and his injury is serious. The fixtures are very solid, but that doesn’t help when he isn’t playing.

Even before the injury, just watch the goals he scored, and you’ll see why I wasn’t interested.

Isak (£8.82m) and Joao Pedro (£10.39m) are both injury doubts this week, with Pedro looking the least likely to play. If you have the money, a trade to Saka is a great way to get the best captain option of the week.

Wirtz (£7.15m) has been disappointing and plays City this week. I expect the Liverpool fans to bring an elite atmosphere, and he isn’t losing you money.

I’m just benching him because I have better trades to make. If you have the money to upgrade, go for it.

Bruno (£13.1m) is the one that hurts. He has a 29 breakeven and only one score above 7, but if you held, you ate the £3.1m price drop last week, and you’ll want him back.

I think the ship has sailed, so just know you’re a couple of trades ahead of anyone who ditched him last week, and you’re watching him nervously.

My planned moves

  • Sangare > Manzambi

Simple this week, vanilla like most coaches.

There are a lot of injury flags, so stay locked into the team sheets and the Discord.

We might not hear much from managers before the weekend, especially Chelsea, which will be a worry for many of us.

Captains

Palmer, Rogers and Pedro are all solid captaincy shouts from Chelsea. I’m less bullish if Pedro misses again, so keep an eye on the team sheet.

Bruno against Spurs is the one for those who held. Take advantage of the coaches who sold.

I don’t have Saka, so I’m looking at Calafiori as my VC. It’s a really tough week, and I’m jealous of the Bruno and Saka owners. My plan is Calafiori into Palmer.

VC: Calafiori

C: Palmer

Other options:

  • Saka
  • Bruno
  • Rogers
  • Pedro
