Knowing how to implement the emergency and vice-captain loophole is vital to SuperCoach success, Charlie Dadds shows you how.
AFL Pre SeasonFocus up ladies & gentlemen, this could change your life.
One of the most underrated facets of the game is the Emergency + VC loophole.
While one of the key components in SuperCoach is cash generation, it can certainly be an advantage to have the luxury of picking and choosing between scores. To do this though, you need to have non-playing-players (NPP’s) on your bench (you only need one for the VC loophole, but if you want to experiment with the emergency loop you may need more).
It can definitely be a tricky path to navigate without any proper understanding, but it can be so beneficial when it pays off, so here’s a guide to help you gain an advantage on the rest of the competition.

The idea behind it is that you can’t decide whether to put “Player A” or “Player B” on field. “Player C” (let’s call him Will Gould) is a basement price rookie who is unlikely to get a game. AKA, an NPP.
I’ll run through this in further detail but basically, “Player A” plays early in the round while “Player B” doesn’t play until later on, but “Player C” HAS to play after “Player A”. Capiche? Capiche.
For instance, we can use Round 1 as an example and pretend we are using Charlie Dean (Collingwood play Friday night) and Corey Wagner (Fremantle play Sunday afternoon), with our NPP (Will Gould) who plays Saturday night (most importantly, AFTER Charlie Dean). All you have to do is one thing:
Now after this, one of two things will happen:
Your footy boots from year 12 are falling apart? Maybe you’re in need of a brand new Sherrin to practice your goal kicking and impress your ressies coach? Whatever you need – Pat and George at Mortgage choice can help you finance it. Get in touch!
Perfect! Your loop has scored well! You have points in the bank!! You don’t have to take a gamble on Corey Wagner!
All you need to do is:
Gould won’t play, and Charlie Dean’s emergency score will be counted instead!
Bing bang bosh, you have successfully looped.
But there is another scenario that could play out:

If Charlie Dean did not score well, or you simply just didn’t like what he scored, or you simply just don’t like him as a person, that’s ok! You still have a back-up option. You still have Corey Wagner!
So, listen up because this is the extremely complicated part of all this.
All you have to do is:
Yep, that’s right! Just leave your team as it was before with Wagner on field, and Dean & Gould on your bench.
All you really have to do is just pray that Wagner outscores Dean.

Once again, we’ll use Round 1 as a good example.
I like the look of Sam Docherty under the lights of a packed MCG crowd up against the ‘Tiges.
Later on in the round, Jack Macrae looks like a great skipper option against the ‘Dees, with scores of 95, 133, and 145 in his last three against them.
Step 1: Place VC on Docherty
Once again, one of two things will happen:
Awesome!
Because your NPP won’t play, the captaincy won’t count, and the VC will be used instead! Then, your playing player’s emergency score on the bench will replace the NPP.

I understand that this is actually really confusing, I’ve been playing SuperCoach for a long time and even I need a refresher course on looping at the start of every season.

If you can manage to pull off these loopholes efficiently, it may well be the difference between 100th and 10,000th.
