Declan Creek
2019 SC Classic overall champion
Former NRL Supercoach winner Dez Creek shares his strategy and captains for Round 4.
NRLWell, here we are just three rounds into the season and I’ve already lost my marbles.
I know this because I’m bringing in two Dragons players this week… against Melbourne.
Turbo Irvo is sitting around 19k overall after sorely missing Reuben Garrick in the side last week after he slapped up a big 157 against the milk.
Personally, I think this score is an outlier and I won’t be rushing Garrick into my side off the back of it, however he is definitely in my final 17 plans for the backend of the year.
The plan over the next 3-4 weeks is to bypass as many of the cash generation prospects as possible, as I believe we have been graced with enough gun cheapies this year, especially in the tricky positions of CTW and Hooker.

My focus will be on getting to the three-gun fullback layout as soon as possible because it’s simply the highest scoring position by a mile and doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to “wait until you can afford it”.
I’ve already seen enough to know that triple gun fullback in Supercoach is potentially the best thing since sliced bread and is the only reason I would ever advise ripping your team apart this early in a season.
Anyways that’s enough parading the new Supercoach meta, time for some players that have caught my eye for potential attacking trade ins over the weeks ahead.

The King of Kogarah seems to be absolutely everywhere out there for the Red V, it honestly feels like he is playing halfback and fullback simultaneously which is a Supercoach gold mine.
I know with the negative breakeven many will be jumping on him purely for the price rise, however I think Gutho will become a serious season long hold prospect for those who like the consistent points of a non-flashy hustle and bustle play style.
Another guy many are flocking to bring in this week for the cash rise who may just turn into a cheeky longer-term hold is Christian Tuipulotu.
Tui has shown he can get over the stripe and seems to be timing his runs well on the end of Dragons left sweeps and thus will be my second trade in this week.
Jayden Campbell is another guy I’ll be looking to grab as soon as I can.
He looks to have picked up right where he left off last season and for mine, goal kicking gives him the nod over the likes of Munster, Brown and Galvin who will all likely average between 65-75.
Snap him up while his ownership is low, because it won’t be long before people get sick of missing his 100s every third week.

In fact, I would advise this straight swap for any Lucas owners looking for a replacement.
Ryan Papenhuyzen probably would’ve been the first guy I brought in this week if he were to snag the goal kicking off injured Nick Meaney, however it seems a slight ankle concern to paps has caused Tyran Wishart to takeover the duties instead.
With so many chefs in the storm kitchen I think you can get away with fading paps for the time being, just until we get a better look at where Melbourne’s points are predominantly going to come from.
I wasn’t even going to talk about Nathan Cleary because I think most of you know the drill by now.
Much like Bitcoin, if you don’t sell you don’t lose money.
And if you do sell, the price will undoubtedly go up (because he will carve out a 160 against one of the Cowboys or Dolphins).
Don’t try to outsmart the herd, hold and be patient.

If you own Turbo, you captain Turbo.
If you own Haas, you VC Haas.
If Haas scores 110+ you loop, as you should with any score over 110 going forward (now that the flex nullifies your Auto Emergency).
If the predicted monsoonal weather is putting you off captaining turbo or you don’t own him, then Terrell May is a good fall back skipper late on Sunday afternoon as the rain shouldn’t impact his immense point scoring less than just about any other player.
Good luck and don’t hold your punches coaches.
