NRL Supercoach 2026 | Player Ownership Stats, Round 9

The Random Stats Guy analyses the player ownership of the top 1% of NRL Supercoach teams in Round 9

NRL

Round 8 delivered plenty of points for some Supercoach guns.

Popular players such as Tedesco, Latrell, Cleary, Hynes, Brailey, Doueihi, Twal and Ford all tonned up, but that still hasn’t stopped Supercoaches from making trades this week.

There are plenty of stars returning to the mix with Kalyn Ponga, Reece Walsh, Pat Carrigan, Ativalu Lisati, Dylan Lucas and Luke Metcalf all named.

Here is how the top 1% of Supercoaches have responded…

James Tedesco delivered another ton for owners, as he is fast becoming the most-owned fullback for the top 1%.

He gets a good run against the Broncos, Titans and Cowboys before being a part of the first major bye round.

Matt Dufty has also become a popular pick-up this week, as his resurgence continues with another try and 300-plus metre effort against the Storm last weekend.

Jye Gray is nearing a return, so Dufty is a good cash grab for now with a -56 breakeven, coming up against a Knights team who have conceded 3 consecutive tons to fullbacks.

Speaking of the Knights, Kalyn Ponga is the 7th most traded-in player this week as he returns from a hamstring injury.

He scored 116 and 54 (in 28 minutes) in his first two games of the season, but the enticing part is that he is still only $607k.

First game back, against the Bunnies, and a projected price rise of $30k means that he isn’t a priority buy.

However, with Dragons, Titans and Eels coming up in the next 4 rounds – he could be worth a look next week.

Herbie Farnworth and Latrell Mitchell continue to be the top 2 must-have CTWs in Supercoach.

However, I was surprised to see how few coaches in the top 1% have taken Herbie on this week as a captain or vice captain option.

He scored 98 against the Storm last season; and the Storm rank 1st for points conceded to left centres with Trell and Casey McLean posting tons in the last 4 weeks.

Food for thought, for those looking for a POD captain.

Jonathan Sua has been a welcome addition to teams looking for someone to trade Heamasi Makasini for.

Over 5,000 Supercoaches have made the trade, with Sua at $216k and holding that left wing spot in Jacob Kiraz‘s absence.

Another week of not much happening in the five-eighth position.

No one has really put their hand up with consistently good performances, although Jarome Luai found some points (81) on the weekend against the Raiders.

The big 3 halfbacks all exploded on the weekend with 100+ scores.

Are they the best options with the flex in hand?

It would cost you nearly $2.4 million to have all 3, which is 20% of your salary cap – but with 94-95 season averages, it might be worth it.

I mentioned Sam Walker was an ANZAC Day specialist last week, and what did he do? Banged out 117!

Yeh alright, it’s the Dragons, but still, his run of games continues to look good against the Broncos, Titans and Cowboys.

His 100-point 3-game average has him soon to be $700k, so if you’re thinking about him, get in now!

Harry Grant continues to punch out sub-par scores and drop in price, but nonetheless, the top 1% are holding strong – most likely because they can’t jump over to the Brailey anymore…

Blayke Brailey continues to improve his season average to 80, with 110 points against the Cowboys last week.

Grant‘s run isn’t that appealing either, with the Storm’s next 5 opponents ranking in the bottom 9 for points conceded to hookers this year.

The legend of Alex Twal continued last week, with the Tigers stalwart scoring his first-ever ton in Supercoach!

Believe it or not, 7% of the top 1% of Supercoaches are trusting him with the captaincy this week – who would have thought!

Jackson Ford continues to impress with his 3rd consecutive ton, despite Mitch Barnett lingering in the Warriors’ side.

Taniela Paseka has continued to be a nice mid-range option, punching out with 4th consecutive 50+ score.

Saxon Pryke is the 5th most traded-in player this week, as he prepares for a $40k rise against the Warriors.

At $201k, and with scores of 48 and 49, he isn’t a bad shout considering the Eels’ current injury crisis.

After providing Supercoaches with some cash and points, it is time to go… Noah Martin.

His season-keeper status has ended, after the Raiders announced he will be going for surgery on both ankles… ouch!

He isn’t the only 2RF in the firing line this week, with Trey Mooney, Jesse Colquhoun and Joe Chan all ranking in the top 5 most traded-out players for the top 1%.

The main trade-in target is an obvious choice – Ativalu Lisati.

Many Supercoaches got him in a couple of weeks ago, some never got rid of them – all, though, were in the hope that he would make some serious bank when he returned.

With a -75 breakeven, he is set to earn owners $102k this week if he scores over 50 points. Patience rewarded.

Xavier Willison is also ranked in the top 3 most traded-in players for the top 1% too.

Patrick Carrigan back does take away some of his input; but hopefully Ezra Mam and the returning Reece Walsh can put him through some holes at left 2nd row!
