NFL Supercoach | Mid-range must-haves

We’re baaaack!

Spring is in the air, footy finals are here, and most importantly, the NFL preseason is done, and we’re only a week away from the regular season kicking off!

What an off-season it’s been. Myles Garrett and Aaron Donald have teamed up in LA, AJ Brown is at the Patriots, and Kyler Murray is at the Vikings. 

What do all these moves have in common? They’ve presented opportunity for quality mid-rangers to thrive. 

So what is a mid-ranger? Well, I price a mid-range player around $10 million – $15 million.

These are the guys that can make or break your season. 

They might be coming off a down year, or a change in scenery may reinvigorate their careers and present them with more opportunity.  

If you pick your mid-rangers correctly, they can double in value, but if you pick poorly, you’ll lose what value they had and be left trading them for peanuts. 

So let’s find the best ones available and start the year with a bang. \

Kenneth Walker III (KC) – RB $13,080,000

The Super Bowl MVP arrives in Kansas City with a huge opportunity to make an impact and make us cash.

Can you believe Zach Charbonnet took a whopping 12 touchdowns off Walker at the Seahawks last season? That’s a lot of Supercoach points…

There’s no such competition at the Chiefs, where he is the clear RB1and looks to have a big workload.

Patrick Mahomes returns from a serious injury, and he will be relying on Walker to be the Chiefs’ bell cow running back, especially in the early parts of the season.

Walker makes defenders miss, runs for yardage, and there’s every chance he’ll be worth more than $20 million at some point during the season.

Justin Jefferson (MIN) – WR – $11,960,000

This one is a no-brainer. Justin Jefferson is owned by 60% of coaches, and it should be 100%.

He had a down year in 2025, but that was a massive outlier, and he is seriously underpriced.

He was $18.4 million at the start of last season, and there’s every reason to believe this is where he will end up in 2026.

The quarterback situation has changed in Minnesota, and this is only going to benefit Jefferson. Kyler Murray replaces J.J McCarthy, and Murray is a much more accomplished and efficient QB.

The McCarthy experiment has failed, and the fact that the Vikings have recognised that can only be a good thing.

Just remember, before last season, Jefferson averaged almost 100 yards per game. He is all class.

AJ Brown (NE) – WR – $15,560,000

While AJ Brown technically falls outside my definition of a mid-ranger, his price went as low as $11.2 million last season, and I still think $15.56 million has him underpriced.

Brown needed a change of scenery, and he’s now Drake Maye’s new best friend in New England.

Maye is one of the best deep-ball passers in the league, and he’s never had a receiver of Brown’s calibre.

These two should connect on A LOT of plays, and Brown will continue to demand the majority of the target share. Further adding to the case for Brown is the departure of Kayshon Boutte.

The Boutte trade means there’s one less mouth to feed in New England, and that means more targets for Brown.

To put it simply, Brown has been recruited to be “the guy” in New England, so I’d be getting him in your team for Week 1.

Christian Watson (GB) – WR – $14,710,000

Romeo Doubs and Dontayvion Wicks departed Green Bay in the off-season, and this has opened the door for Christian Watson.

That’s 131 targets that have walked out the door, but if Watson is to capitalise on this, he must stay healthy.

There’s no escaping his injury history, but if he can stay on the park, he has a huge opportunity to establish himself as the WR1 at the Packers.

He had scores of  37, 32, and 45 when returning from last year, and I believe he can average in the 30s if he can put a full season together. Definitely one to watch, and I’ll be starting with him.

Tyler Warren (IND) – TE – $11,230,000

Tyler Warren was one of the biggest losers when Daniel Jones tore his Achilles last season.

Warren was having an incredible season but finished with scores of 5, 6, 9, 13, and 10 following Jones’ season-ending injury.

Before that, he was airborne – establishing himself as one of Jones’ favourite targets and averaging 21 points per game.

Jones is now healthy, and Warren should see an even greater target share following the departure of Michael Pittman.

If you don’t want to spend big on a top-tier tight end, then Warren could be a nice point of difference.

LA Rams Defence – $10,310,000

Yes, I’ve included a defence in this list, but mainly because the Rams D may end up being an absolute steal.

Their price was set before Aaron Donald signed on, bolstering an already stacked defensive front.

Donald comes out of retirement, and he gets to team up with Myles Garrett – giving the Rams two of the best defensive linemen in NFL history.

These two playing together scream sacks, turnovers, and of course, Supercoach points. They’re the sixth-most expensive defence in Supercoach, and it wouldn’t surprise me if they end up being the most expensive.

Starting with the Rams D is a safe option, but it’s also a smart option. It’s a scary defensive unit that will cause all sorts of problems for even the best quarterbacks in the League.
