NFL Supercoach expert Josh Clutterbuck goes through the best buy, hold, and sell options for Week 4
NFLAnother chaotic week of NFL football has come to a close! Some big-name stars really stamped their authority in both real life and the SuperCoach arena; then, as per usual, the tight end position flopped.
I scored a modest 521 this week, which saw me decline in weekly rankings but rise almost 1000 spots in overall.
I forgot to VC Bijan and didn’t get the loop, which is annoying; however, I traded out Caleb on Sunday evening for Tyler Shough when the injury news came through and captained him, which was a great success in the end.
My RB room is pretty much where I want it now, and it led the charge with strong performances from Gibbs, Bijan, and K9. I didn’t ever consider starting him, but it is frustrating to miss out on the Love points.

Mixed results in the receiver room have me wishing I started with JSN, but we will get there eventually.
I’m trying not to lose my cool with the TE position this year and will stay the course with Kincaid and Warren for the time being unless there is an injury. Likely is suffering from poor QB play, which is really grinding my gears considering he was my must-have barring injury for the year.
There aren’t a whole lot of players on my radar this week, but they are crucial moving forward! Let’s dig in!

My Sunday evening move to bring in one of my favourite young QB’s has proved a master stroke and no doubt helped my rankings this week. Shough put up an impressive 49 points but couldn’t get the win against the Raiders, where he and the team fell apart towards the end.
That doesn’t concern me at all. Shough is currently the 3rd-ranked QB in the league and still only owned by 1% of you; what are we doing?!
As mentioned on the pod and in previous articles, the Saints have the 2nd easiest schedule this year and have already played 2 of their toughest opponents in Detroit and Baltimore, whom he performed extremely well against and got the win.
His price point is below the likes of reigning MVP Stafford, who is averaging 10 points less per game in SuperCoach than Shough despite being $3m dearer than the young single caller. A primetime divisional matchup against a below-average Falcons team has me salivating this week, and I can’t wait to see what he dishes out. Get him in!
Embed from Getty ImagesBhayshul Tuten (RB Jacksonville Jaguars, $9.26m, BE -14, 30% ownership)
One of my big mistakes of this year was taking Tuten out of my initial team and replacing him with Etienne. He’s currently the 11th-ranked RB in SuperCoach and is scoring at an average of 25 PPG, which isn’t groundbreaking, but it is showing signs of huge cash generation.
He’s averaging roughly 15 carries a game and getting decent yardage. The 2 TD’s in successive weeks are a huge bonus and certainly help his case as a cash cow. Tuten isn’t a year-long keeper, but he is someone that I highly recommend getting, as he is the best available cheapie RB on the market outside of Love, who almost everyone should own.
Tuten now faces the Bengals, who gave up 127 yards to Jaylen Warren on 17 carries last weekend, and who I consider the same caliber player as Tuten. We could be in for a big cash grab!
RB TO AVOID BUYING
Steer clear of the Dolphins RB room of Gordon and Wright. The low price point may be appealing; however, you’re looking at taking on a player on arguably the worst team in football.
If you weren’t willing to take on Achane, how can you trust Gordon or Wright to do better in this backfield?
Embed from Getty ImagesMatthew Golden (WR Green Bay Packers, $8.38m, -12 BE, 12% ownership)
If you don’t have him already, get yourself this year’s premier cheapie WR. We all expected this last year, and if you were like me and kept him all season, you were left bitterly disappointed.
Golden scored 104 points in SuperCoach across 17 weeks last season and is already at 77 so far this year. Emerging as the team’s No.2 receiver, Golden is a threat all over the field.
Through 3 games, Golden has the most targets on the team with 30 and 2nd most receptions at 15. Golden only trails lead receiver Watson by 31 yards and has 3 fewer TD’s on the year.
With Watson being mentioned across this channel multiple times as a must-add to your team, it’s crazy that no more has been spoken about Golden, who is half the price and realistically 3 TD’s away from basically being on par with him score-wise for the year. Don’t be misled by the huge difference in receptions and targets; Love is only completing at 52%.
With no run game but some valuable weapons in the passing game, Green Bay are going to continue throwing the ball, and Golden should benefit immensely from this and solidify himself as this year’s top cash down in the WR ranks.
Embed from Getty ImagesJosh Downs (WR Indianapolis Colts, $8.96m, 2 BE, 1% ownership)
If you already own Golden and Boston and you are looking for a cheapie with upside, Downs is your man. Downs is set to be WR 1 in Indy for at least the next 3 weeks whilst Pierce is out. In those 3 weeks, there is one tough matchup against the Steelers; otherwise, Downs faces an inconsistent Commanders team this week and a rebuilding Titans team the week after next.
He’s not a long-term play, but he is someone who has the most upside outside of the popular owned cheapies, in my opinion, purely because he has WR 1 status for a minimum of 3 weeks
Kenyon Sadiq (TE NY Jets, $6.99m, -12 BE, 38% ownership)
Another high ownership percentage but someone who is on the verge of being unleashed. Sadiq is a weapon and uber-talented receiver stuck in a TE body. If you’re like me and faded him at the start of the year, don’t fret! I think it’s the perfect time to jump on someone in such a volatile position at such a low price.
Sadiq is the perfect sideways move if you decided to start with Likely. Geno is actually playing decent this year, and the Jets have to start showing something to give their fans an inkling of hope. That hope is Sadiq. Most articles I read on the web are saying the same thing. Feed this guy the ball!
After 2 modest games with 3 targets in each affair, Sadiq broke out against the Lions with 8 targets for 7 receptions, 105 yards, and an all-time diving TD grab. I trust the Jets more than I trust a Dartless Giants team. Gross.
Embed from Getty ImagesBrock Bowers (TE Las Vegas Raiders, $15.48m, 4 BE, 20% ownership)
Only grab him this week if you have Loveland still on your roster. I’m still worried about his health; however, when healthy, this guy is one of, if not the best TE in the league.
Bowers dominated the game last week and will be looking to impose himself against rivals, the Chiefs. The Raiders are on a roll and will look to keep the momentum by capitalising on big plays from big-name players like Bowers.
If you’re not swapping Loveland, I don’t mind the hold for a week to check his health again.
Embed from Getty ImagesJustin Jefferson (WR Minnesota Vikings, $13m, BE 40, 69% owned)
Don’t overreact and panic trade because of the BE! Things are different this year. I too have some PTSD from last year, but stay your course, and all will be right. As I have harped on about many a time, Jettas is a top 3 receiver in the league, and this year actually has competent people throwing him the ball.
Week 2’s low score can be attributed to the monsoonal weather, and last week’s 8 was scored on the first drive of the game, and then he exited.
Jettas has the potential to come out and score well above 50 this week when they take on a poor Dolphins team. For someone who was being talked about as a potential season keeper, don’t waste a trade just yet; he will be alright.
Dalton Kincaid (TE Buffalo Bills, $13.2m, BE 20, 17% owned)
If you, like me, brought this guy in last week, you will be making a huge mistake by getting rid of him this week. Kincaid had a down week, but that’s going to happen in the TE position. The Bills as a whole had a down week.
Allen will come out firing as he looks to assert dominance over the Patriots in Buffalo this weekend, and you can be assured Kincaid will be a huge part of the plan to dismantle the Patriots.
Embed from Getty ImagesOmarion Hampton (RB LA Chargers, $15.72m, BE 32, 10% ownership)
One of the most disappointing players this year mainly because I own him… Jokes aside, this guy was spoken about as possibly being the league leader in rushing yards and is now a part of one of the biggest dumpster fires in the league. Hampton faces the Seahawks this week, who are coming off a loss. Gold help the Chargers.
2 scores in the teens in 3 weeks is incredibly concerning. I don’t trust a single Chargers offensive player at the moment, and I don’t think I will again. Get out now before he loses even more cash!
David Montgomery (RB Houston Texans, $12.38m, BE 42, 12% ownership)
This guy was a trap from the start. A Week 1 54 shocked me, so I wasn’t surprised to see him come back down to Earth hard. Set to lose at least $1m, Mont could become a real problem to get rid of from your team if you aren’t careful.
He’s too TD-dependent, and the Texans will soon have Collins back, giving them even more weapons than what they currently have. At his price, there are plenty of other RB’s available who will produce and some cheaper, like Tuten, who have way more upside.
Embed from Getty ImagesKC Concepcion (WR Cleveland Browns, $4.76m, BE 10, 33% ownership)
It feels funny to get rid of someone with a 10 BE; however, at this stage, Concepcion isn’t a contributor to teams on and off the field and needs to be booted. If you don’t own Boston or Golden, they should be your priority; otherwise, I’d be looking at Downs. Boston is the go-to guy for Watson at this stage, and KC has the potential to be this year’s Golden if we aren’t careful.
Isaiah Likely (TE NY Giants, $7.51m, BE 21, 63% ownership)
Ahhhhhh this one hurts. I love this guy. I don’t love the guys who will be getting him the ball this year. Whether it will end up being Winston for the year or McCarthy, neither particularly love their TE’s. Likely has the talent to be a league leader, but he needs the ball.
Given what has happened since Dart went down, I can’t see a world where Likely contributes. A BE of 21 might seem reachable, but I’m too worried about him getting nowhere near it and losing the cash he has already made. Moving to someone like Sadiq if you don’t own him, or even a POD play in the TD-dependent Fant is the play. See you next year, Isaiah.
Embed from Getty ImagesColston Loveland (TE Chicago Bears, $11.6m, BE 44, 18% ownership)
Yes, I brought in Kincaid early, and yes, he scored double what Kincaid scored, but! It was still only 10 points. I jumped off the bandwagon last week. and it seems like it was the right decision. The Bears are using a multitude of TE’s in their scheme and are sharing the load around a fair bit.
Loveland will have a monster game soon, but I’m not confident he will have consistent games. He has such a high BE and will lose a ton of cash this week, possibly 1.5m.
There’s a world where he becomes viable, but at this stage you should be looking at someone like a Kincaid, Warren, or Johnson for a POD or even going up to Bowers to fill your team. Don’t get done by the price decrease!
Embed from Getty ImagesLast week’s trades were a mixed bag. Shough was the 5th best QB with only Purdy, Darnold, Smith, and Brisset ahead of him. Kincaid was terrible, and Boston did his job accumulating points and maintaining a negative BE for this week. I need to do a few things to my team, but I see these moves being the most important.
TRADE IN – TUTEN AND SADIQ
TRADE OUT – HAMPTON AND LIKELY
A few different options ran through my head, but this seemed to be the best option in the end. I pocket a ton of cash by downgrading to Tuten and can hopefully make a nice splash at a top receiver or RB next week.
Likely has to go as he’s too much of a risk with who is throwing him the ball. I like the upside of Sadiq; he seems to have shown a bit of potential for this Jets team.
Embed from Getty ImagesDon’t really have a VC this week as no one is playing early enough and I have no loop options, so I’m either going to play it safe and back Josh Allen to destroy my Patriots, or I am toying with the idea of Gibbs or Bijan. I’m uber tempted to bring in the Raiders’ loopable kicker.
Gibbs plays the Panthers in primetime and should be primed after a huge game last week, and Bijan has an incredible primetime record. He now has 3 games with 200 yards from scrimmage in primetime games from just 10 games.
This puts him in the same company as Derrick Henry, Shaun Alexander, and Jerry Rice for the most games doing this since the 1970 merger. TMI TLDR: Bijan is on my radar and could be a late swap to skipper this week!
Best of luck coaches, and see you next week.
