NRL Round 13 team lists: Full squads + NRL Supercoach analysis

NRL Supercoach veteran Tim Williams analyses the NRL squads for the round 13 fixtures with in-depth Supercoach analysis

NRL

The first major bye round is in the bag, and the first mini bye round has arrived.

We continue to navigate a truly tricky part of the NRL Supercoach season, with byes, injuries, and inevitable Origin restings set to wreak havoc on the game.

As the major bye rounds take our focus, it’s often the mini bye rounds (the round following Origin) that create the biggest headaches.

Three teams are on the bye, while the brutality of the State of Origin arena often results in players being rested from club duties.

Unlike the major bye rounds, it’s back to regular programming with 17 players scoring for our squads.

Hopefully, every player gets through the Origin opener unscathed and backs up for their club, but I suspect that’s wishful thinking.

The Cooma Stallions overcame some dramas leading into the first major bye week to produce a respectable 961 points to see some decent green arrows into around 14,000th overall.

Numbers looked decent, then the likes of Herbie Farnworth and Jonathan Sua were unavailable, which forced me into using three trades to reach 13 available numbers.

Not ideal, but at least a reasonable score was had.

With one boost and just 20 trades left, I’m very mindful of running a touch lower than I’d hoped at this stage of the season, so I’ll be doing my best to save a few over the next month if possible.

Let’s take a look at the NRL Supercoach analysis of the Round 13 teams, with squad lists courtesy of Fox Sports.

SHARKS v SEA EAGLES

Friday, 8pm, Shark Park, Sydney

Sharks: 1. William Kennedy 2. Samuel Stonestreet 3. Jesse Ramien 4. KL Iro 5. Ronaldo Mulitalo 6. Braydon Trindall 7. Niwhai Puru 8. Addin Fonua-Blake 9. Blayke Brailey 10. Toby Rudolf 11. Briton Nikora 12. Teig Wilton 13. Cameron McInnes

Bench: 14. Jesse Colquhoun 15. Siosifa Talakai 16. Billy Burns 17. Thomas Hazelton 18. Hohepa Puru 19. Oregon Kaufusi

Reserves: 20. Braden Hamlin-Uele 21. Jayden Berrell 22. Riley Jones 23. Mawene Hiroti

Analysis: Cronulla now enter one of the best draws in Supercoach, with just one more bye this season in Round 17, which is a full NRL round, making it very manageable.

Nicho Hynes is a huge out, owned by 80% of the top 10% overall ranked teams and 92% of the top 1% overall.

At this stage he’s been sent for scans, so let’s wait for results before pulling the trigger on selling.

The Sharks play the Dragons next week, a match he could dead set double tonne in if playing.

If it’s longer term, Braydon Trindall becomes an option as the likely goal-kicker.

He averages 44.7 points with Nicho Hynes in games of 65+ minutes in recent years, in games without Nicho it rises to 64.5.

Likewise If Nicho is out for an extended period, Niwhai Puru becomes a close watch at bottor dollar.

KL Iro should be on everyone’s radar, also, but at $793k with a breakeven of 151, it can certainly wait a week.

I’d be making plans to try and get him in before next week’s clash with the Red V, hopefully at a significantly reduced rate.

I suspect the Sharks will become more popular next week.

Sea Eagles: 1. Clayton Faulalo 2. Jason Saab 3. Josh Feledy 4. Reuben Garrick 5. Lehi Hopoate 6. Luke Brooks 7. Jamal Fogarty 8. Taniela Paseka 9. Jake Simpkin 10. Kobe Hetherington 11. Jackson Shereb 12. Ben Trbojevic 13. Jake Trbojevic

Bench: 14. Brandon Wakeham 15. Nathan Brown 16. Ethan Bullemor 17. Simione Laiafi 18. Blake Wilson 19. Joey Walsh

Reserves: 20. Hugo Hart 21. Haumole Olakau’atu 22. Tolutau Koula

Analysis: Manly’s bye coverage remains okay; however, they do miss the upcoming second major bye round in Round 15, making them less appealing targets for now.

Clayton Faulolo has exploded at fullback, notching back-to-back tonnes to reach $643k.

Congratulations to those who jumped on, but with a tough away game against Cronulla incoming and Tom Trbojevic due back after the bye, I think he’s nearing his peak with better buys elsewhere.

Taniela Paseka has done an outstanding job for owners, rising $192k thanks to a 57.9 point average this season.

At $520k with a breakeven of 40, he’s fairly well hit his peak in price.

While you could hold him throughout the bye period as a number, it’s rare that you’ll need to play him in your team.

With the likes of Terrell May, Jackson Ford, and Alex Twal dominating the FRF position, you can move him on whenever it suits.

Ben Trbojevic has quietly averaged a very healthy 67.7 points per game this season.

KNIGHTS v EELS

Saturday, 3pm, McDonald Jones Stadium, Newcastle

Knights: 1. Kalyn Ponga 2. Dominic Young 3. Dane Gagai 4. Fletcher Sharpe 5. Greg Marzhew 6. Sandon Smith 7. Dylan Brown 8. Jacob Saifiti 9. Phoenix Crossland 10. Trey Mooney 11. Dylan Lucas 12. Jermaine McEwen 13. Mathew Croker

Bench: 14. Harrison Graham 15. Tyson Frizell 16. Pasami Saulo 17. Cody Hopwood 18. Thomas Cant 19. Fletcher Hunt

Reserves: 20. Francis Manuleleua 21. James Schiller 22. Elijah Leaumoana 23. Kyle McCarthy

Analysis: Newcastle’s bye coverage is okay, missing the upcoming second major bye round in Round 15, making them slightly less appealing targets for now.

They do, however, play four of their next five games in Newcastle, which is a huge boost.

Kalyn Ponga has been named, but I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see him rested pending how he gets through Origin.

If ruled out, he’d miss rounds 13, 15, and 18 at a minimum.

The Knights also play on Friday night, just two days after Origin II against the Dragons. I suspect he’ll sit that out, also provided he’s starting for QLD.

If he is rested this week, I’d look to sell.

Fletcher Sharpe notched a season high of 91 against the Titans while playing centre.

He’s still very affordable at $512k with a breakeven of 29 and is likely to play fullback when Ponga is out.

I like him as a buy to slot in at the fairly unappealing five-eighth position.

Dom Young is still very affordable at just $562k with a breakeven of -29.

With strong match-ups incoming against the Eels, Storm, Dragons, Tigers, and Dolphins, I don’t mind the play at all.

Eels: 1. Isaiah Iongi 2. Brian Kelly 3. Jordan Samrani 4. Sean Russell 5. Josh Addo-Carr 6. Joash Papali’i 7. Ronald Volkman 8. Luca Moretti 9. Tallyn Da Silva 10. Jack Williams 11. Kelma Tuilagi 12. Kitione Kautoga 13. Jack de Belin

Bench: 14. Dylan Walker 15. Charlie Guymer 16. Toni Mataele 17. Harrison Edwards 18. Apa Twidle 19. Teancum Brown

Reserves: 20. Sam Tuivaiti 21. Lorenzo Talataina 22. Araz Nanva

Analysis: The Eels cover the next two major bye rounds and welcome back a few troops after an early onslaught of injuries in 2026.

I still wouldn’t rush to invest until we see them turn a corner, but they do provide slightly more appeal with the major bye coverage.

With Mitchell Moses out, Joash Papalii returns in the halves over Jonah Pezet.

I advise monitoring Parramatta over the next fortnight. If they find some form, we can look to recruit for bye coverage later on.

TIGERS v BULLDOGS

Saturday, 5:30pm, CommBank Stadium, Sydney

Tigers: 1. Jahream Bula 2. Jeral Skelton 3. Sunia Turuva 4. Heamasi Makasini 5. Faaletino Tavana 6. Jarome Luai 7. Jock Madden 8. Terrell May 9. Apisai Koroisau 10. Fonua Pole 11. Sione Fainu 12. Kai Pearce-Paul 13. Alex Twal

Bench: 14. Latu Fainu 15. Alex Seyfarth 16. Royce Hunt 17. Charlie Murray 18. Mavrik Geyer 19. Starford To’a

Reserves: 20. Tristan Hope 21. Ethan Roberts 22. Heath Mason

Analysis: The Tigers enter the perfect bye period draw, featuring in every round for the remainder of the Origin period.

While still contending with an injury crisis, the Tigers do make plenty of appeal.

The big three in the pack are all punching out big scores, in the form of Terrell May, Alex Twal, and Kai Pearce-Paul.

Twal has been named after sitting out Magic Round.

It’s likely now Terrell time who looks off the radar of the NSW Blues.

At $800k with a breakeven of 111, and games incoming against the Bulldogs and Panthers, it may be worth waiting till Round 15.

Regardless, though, he’s averaging 84 points per game with two tonnes to his name this season, so we may not actually get him that much cheaper.

Terrell has the second-highest base and power points average this season, with a ridiculous 79 per game, behind only teammate Twal at 81.6 per game.

Kai Pearce-Paul ranks not too far behind in 13th overall with 63.2 points per game in base and power.

Since failing a HIA in Round 9, KPP has bottomed out in price at $634k with a breakeven of 53.

He had three offloads last game, and a ridiculous eight the game prior.

All three Tigers look like near musts throughout this period, and are likely season keepers.

Twal, Jahream Bula and Api Koroisau are huge ins for the Tigers, while Heamasi Makasini also returns at centre.

Bulldogs: 1. Jacob Kiraz 2. Jethro Rinakama 3. Bronson Xerri 4. Enari Tuala 5. Marcelo Montoya 6. Matt Burton 7. Lachlan Galvin 8. Max King 9. Kurt Mann 10. Leo Thompson 11. Sitili Tupouniua 12. Jaeman Salmon 13. Harry Hayes

Bench: 14. Bailey Hayward 15. Jed Reardon 16. Jack Underhill 17. Josh Curran 19. Lipoi Hopoi

Reserves: 20. Jonathan Sua 21. Sean O’Sullivan 22. Connor Tracey 23. Stephen Crichton

Analysis: The Bulldogs enter one of the worst Origin period draws, missing the next two major bye rounds.

Due to this, there’s only one player I’d consider, and he goes by the name of King Kiraz.

Boy, what I’d have given to have taken a punt on him last week for his tonne, but coming back from injury after being poor Supercoach-wise all season, I couldn’t bring myself to do it.

He smashed out 109 points, with a try, six tackle-breaks, seven offloads, and 27 runs!!!

Fullback suits him nicely…

His numbers on the wing prior to injury were ordinary, averaging just 62 points despite scoring four tries and setting up another.

Pre-injury, he had just eight tackle-breaks in six games, which just isn’t the Kiraz we know and love.

So is he back? Probably…

He’s always a huge risk of injury and still didn’t look near 100% last week, but when you’re belting out those numbers, it doesn’t really matter.

Note that Connor Tracey has been named in the reserves after initially expecting to be out for a longer duration.

Jacob Preston is out with a broken arm.

STORM v ROOSTERS

Saturday, 7:35pm, AAMI Park, Melbourne

Storm: 1. Sualauvi Faalogo 2. William Warbrick 3. Jack Howarth 4. Nick Meaney 5. Moses Leo 6. Cameron Munster 7. Jahrome Hughes 8. Stefano Utoikamanu 9. Harry Grant 10. Josh King 11. Alec MacDonald 12. Ativalu Lisati 13. Trent Loiero

Bench: 14. Trent Toelau 15. Cooper Clarke 16. Davvy Moale 17. Josiah Pahulu 18. Joe Chan 19. Manaia Waitere

Reserves: 20. Jack Hetherington 21. Angus Hinchey 22. Gabriel Satrick 23. Keagan Russell-smith

Analysis: The Storm will miss the next two major bye rounds, making them less enticing targets with the added concern over key Origin back-ups.

Moses Leo proved one of the great holds for owners, belting out 114 points in the all-important bye round.

He’s now $370k with a breakeven of -47; owners are laughing all the way to the bank.

I think Cody Ramsey is a far better cheapie CTW buy still.

With a number of key players needing to back up from Origin and two tricky games against the Roosters and Knights, I’m not overly interested in Storm players at the moment.

Harry Grant owners who have him paired with Brandon Smith or Oliver Pascoe will be desperate for him to back up from Origin.

Barring any knocks, I’d be surprised if he didn’t play with Melbourne’s season hanging by a thread.

Roosters: 1. James Tedesco 2. Billy Smith 3. Hugo Savala 4. Robert Toia 5. Cody Ramsey 6. Daly Cherry-Evans 7. Sam Walker 8. Naufahu Whyte 9. Reece Robson 10. Lindsay Collins 11. Angus Crichton 12. Siua Wong 13. Victor Radley

Bench: 14. Connor Watson 15. Spencer Leniu 16. Nat Butcher 17. Salesi Foketi 18. Reece Foley 19. Egan Butcher

Reserves: 20. Benaiah Ioelu 21. Taylor Losalu 22. Tom Rodwell 23. Rex Bassingthwaighte 24. Junior Tupou

Analysis: The Roosters have just one bye remaining this season, coming in the third major bye week in Round 18.

If James Tedesco fails to back up from Origin, he would miss Round 13, 15, and 18 at a minimum, provided, of course, he holds his NSW spot.

If the Blues win and he rests, you could probably sell; if they lose, it’ll bring Dylan Edwards into the mix, meaning he may be worth persisting with.

With the 21 points against the Cowboys in his rolling average, he’s likely to drop a lot of cash.

Should Tedesco rest, Cody Ramsey likely deputises at fullback.

He’s just $251k with a breakeven of -27 and could provide excellent bye period coverage while freeing up cash to make moves elsewhere.

Naufahu Whyte has my interest at $507k with a breakeven of 26 and a season average of 56 points.

With the likes of Victor Radley, Reece Robson, and Lindsay Collins on Origin duties, I expect his game time to increase.

He has a healthy three-round average of 68 points, with an outstanding 57 in base in that period.

He was injured in the first game of the bye period last season, then returned after a month out for three more games.

In these games, he averaged 73.66 points with an enormous 65 in base.

BRONCOS v DRAGONS

Sunday, 2pm, Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane

Broncos: 1. Reece Walsh 2. Josiah Karapani 3. Kotoni Staggs 4. Gehamat Shibasaki 5. Jesse Arthars 6. Ezra Mam 7. Adam Reynolds 8. Preston Riki 9. Cory Paix 10. Payne Haas 11. Brendan Piakura 12. Xavier Willison 13. Patrick Carrigan

Bench: 14. Ben Hunt 15. Ben Talty 16. Va’a Semu 17. Jack Gosiewski 18. Grant Anderson 19. Hayze Perham

Reserves: 20. Thomas Duffy 21. Jaiyden Hunt 22. Phillip Coates 23. Aublix Tawha 24. Josh Rogers

Analysis: The Broncos enter a mixed bye period draw, featuring in the next two major bye weeks, but missing the final two mini bye weeks.

Reece Walsh at $603k with games incoming against the Dragons and Titans at Suncorp is too good to be true, right?

Having missed Origin selection, we may even jag him for the second and third major bye rounds.

It must be said, confidence with his facial injury looks down, and it appears to have played a part in his Origin omission.

Two weeks back from injury against Manly, he registered just three runs and 0 tackle-breaks, which is unheard of.

He improved against the Warriors at Magic Round with 13 runs and six tackle-breaks.

Although there are some concerns, with that draw incoming he looks very hard to pass up.

With his upside in those games, you can flick him if Origin selection looms regardless.

I suspect other Broncos purchases will emerge in the coming weeks, but for now, I’m happy to wait and watch how they go.

Payne Haas returns from injury in a boost for the entire side, but won’t be a Supercoach option until after the Origin period.

Dragons: 1. Clinton Gutherson 2. Setu Tu 3. Moses Suli 4. Valentine Holmes 5. Mathew Feagai 6. Daniel Atkinson 7. Kyle Flanagan 8. Loko Jnr Pasifiki Tonga 9. Damien Cook 10. Toby Couchman 11. Dylan Egan 12. Hamish Stewart 13. Ryan Couchman

Bench: 14. Jacob Liddle 15. Blake Lawrie 16. Josh Kerr 17. Luciano Leilua 18. Emre Guler 19. Lyhkan King-Togia

Reserves: 20. Tyrell Sloan 21. Isaiah Fagalilo 22. Tyler Peckham-Harris

Analysis: The Dragons miss the second major bye round and the third mini bye round.

Once again, there’s no real interest here outside of the Couchman twins.

Toby Couchman knocked out 94 points for the second week running, all of which again came entirely in base and power. Crazy…

He managed this in just 61 minutes of game time!!!

RAIDERS v COWBOYS

Sunday, 4:05pm, GIO Stadium, Canberra

Raiders: 1. Kaeo Weekes 2. Savelio Tamale 3. Sebastian Kris 4. Matthew Timoko 5. Xavier Savage 6. Ethan Strange 7. Ethan Sanders 8. Corey Horsburgh 9. Tom Starling 10. Joseph Tapine 11. Hudson Young 12. Zac Hosking 13. Daine Laurie

Bench: 14. Owen Pattie 15. Ata Mariota 16. Morgan Smithies 17. Jed Stuart 18. Chevy Stewart 19. Jordan Uta

Reserves: 20. Coby Black 21. Vena Patuki-Case 22. Ethan Alaia

Analysis: The Raiders’ bye coverage remains strong, with no byes until Round 18.

Zac Hosking delivered for new owners with 81 points, thanks to one of the easiest tries of all-time, without a linebreak, though.

He knocked out an excellent 64 points in base alone against the Dolphins.

At $518k with a breakeven of 23 and no sign of Simi Sasagi, he looks locked into a big minute role until at least Round 16-17.

Joe Tapine knocked out his biggest minutes in a long time with 71 against the Phins for 87 points, which came exclusively in base and power.

Provided he continues to see 60+ minutes, he looks like a nice purchase throughout the bye period while the Raiders are down on men.

Embed from Getty Images

Cowboys: 1. Scott Drinkwater 2. Zac Laybutt 3. Jaxon Purdue 4. Tomas Chester 5. Murray Taulagi 6. Liam Sutton 7. Jake Clifford 8. Thomas Mikaele 9. Reed Mahoney 10. Jason Taumalolo 11. Heilum Luki 12. Sam McIntyre 13. Reuben Cotter

Bench: 14. Viliami Vailea 15. Griffin Neame 16. Matthew Lodge 17. Coen Hess 18. Robert Derby 19. Ethan King

Reserves: 20. Xavier Kerrisk 21. Wiremu Greig 22. Mason Barber

Analysis: The Cowboys’ bye period draw now takes a turn, missing the next two major bye rounds.

Scott Drinkwater delivered in the first major bye round with 119 points, which has seen plenty flock to the livewire fullback this week. I don’t rate the buy, though.

The Raiders’ away this week looms as a relatively tricky match-up, before an okay home clash against the Dolphins.

The Cowboys then have the bye into the Warriors and Panthers, before another bye.

I genuinely believe he’s a sell by round 15, while a number of enticing fullbacks are available this week or next.

The likes of Heilum Luki, Reed Mahoney, and Jaxon Purdue can probably be moved on anytime between now and Round 15.

Tom Chester, however, looks every bit the season keeper to me with an average of 71.2 points with 50.4 in base and power.

The masses of owners will have a decision to make on the speedy centre in Round 15.

PANTHERS v WARRIORS

Sunday, 6:15pm, CommBank Stadium, Sydney

Panthers: 1. Dylan Edwards 2. Thomas Jenkins 3. Izack Tago 4. Luke Garner 5. Paul Alamoti 6. Blaize Talagi 7. Jack Cogger 8. Moses Leota 9. Freddy Lussick 10. Liam Henry 11. Isaiah Papali’i 12. Liam Martin 13. Lindsay Smith

Bench: 14. Jack Cole 15. Scott Sorensen 16. Billy Phillips 17. Luron Patea 18. Billy Scott 19. Sione Fonua

Reserves: 20. Kalani Going 21. Casey McLean 22. Isaah Yeo 23. Nathan Cleary 24. Brian To’o

Analysis: The Panthers’ bye coverage remains tricky, missing the second major bye round and third mini bye round.

There’s also the added impact of potential restings to their Origin contingent.

They face the Warriors this week, which will be tough, and then have a nice match-up against the Tigers prior to the bye.

After that, they face the Titans, Cowboys, and Rabbitohs.

This is the run they’ll be worth targeting for, although restings are likely for the Titans clash.

Tom Jenkins broke his try-scoring drought with a double at Magic Round.

He’s very affordable at $625k with a breakeven of 56 and looks a nice pick-up at any stage, I’ll likely wait until Round 16 despite the temptation.

Isaiah Papali’i should continue playing big minutes; he’s averaging an excellent 73 points this season with 60.7 in base and power.

He’s $641k with dual 2RF-FRF positioning and looks like a great buy with a breakeven of just 22.

If NSW wins Origin game one, Dylan Edwards shouldn’t play game two, which makes him a nice POD play with a season average of 82 points per game.

With a breakeven of 128 and a tough game incoming, it can probably wait until Round 15, but he’ll be a must from Round 16 if on deck for Penrith.

Embed from Getty Images

Warriors:  1. Taine Tuaupiki 2. Dallin Watene-Zelezniak 3. Ali Leiataua 4. Adam Pompey 5. Alofiana Khan-Pereira 6. Chanel Harris-Tavita 7. Te Maire Martin 8. James Fisher-Harris 9. Wayde Egan 10. Jackson Ford 11. Leka Halasima 12. Jacob Laban 13. Erin Clark

Bench: 14. Samuel Healey 15. Tanner Stowers-Smith 16. Demitric Vaimauga 17. Marata Niukore 18. Kayliss Fatialofa

Reserves: 20. Luke Hanson 21. Makaia Tafua 22. Luke Metcalf 23. Jason Seu Salalilo

Analysis: The Warriors have the bye next week on the full round, then another on the third major bye round.

Due to that, I wouldn’t look to invest in any players until Round 15.

The exception is, of course, Te Maire Martin, who is averaging 87.5 points across his first two games of the season, sitting at just $235k with a breakeven of -95.

A score of 50 is projected to net him $115k!

He’s been named to start at halfback once again, with the shadow of Luke Metcalf lingering in reserves.

If TMM starts, you probably have to have him, but if Metcalf does regain his No.7 jersey, it could be short-lived for TMM.

He’s pretty hard to ignore, with the major benefit for those looking to fade him being the fact that they do face the might of Penrith this week.

Since joining the Warriors, he’s averaged mid 60s when starting at halfback.
