NRL Supercoach veteran Tim Williams analyses the NRL squads for the round 17 fixtures with in-depth Supercoach analysis
NRLWe’re back to a full round of NRL fixtures in Round 17, giving stressed out Supercoaches a nice little reprieve from the recent weekly scramble for numbers.
As squad value and depth grow stronger, these full fixture rounds will make sit v start dilemmas increasingly hard.
There will inevitably be weeks where we sit guns that tonne up which will sting.
Despite this, having to choose between proven Supercoach weapons to play in your 18 each week isn’t a bad headache to have.

As most will be able to field a strong squad this week, it looms as a good week to try and save a trade.
If your numbers are looking decent for next week’s major bye round, there should be an opportunity to bank a trade or even two for the run home.
With Jackson Ford joining Kai Pearce-Paul as a highly owned player going down long-term, moving one of these guys on for a Round 18 player will be popular.
Embed from Getty ImagesThe Cooma Stallions have advanced from a trot to a gallop of late, knocking out 1,379 points to see strong green arrows into 6k overall which is becoming far more respectable after a tough opening half of the season.
Numbers for the next two bye rounds are strong, squad depth is good, and we’ve started to bank trades, so hopefully there’s more green arrows on the horizon.
With plenty of squads on the bye next week, I’ll hold off on in-depth analysis of those clubs until Round 19 unless there’s genuine players to grab this week.
Let’s take a look at the NRL Supercoach analysis of Round 17, with squad lists courtesy of Fox Sports.

Thursday, 7:50pm, CommBank Stadium, Sydney
Eels: 1. Isaiah Iongi 2. Brian Kelly 3. Jordan Samrani 4. Sean Russell 5. Josh Addo-Carr 6. Ronald Volkman 7. Mitchell Moses 8. Luca Moretti 9. Tallyn Da Silva 10. Jack Williams 11. Kelma Tuilagi 12. Kitione Kautoga 13. Jack de Belin
Bench: 14. Dylan Walker 15. Sam Tuivaiti 16. Teancum Brown 17. Harrison Edwards 18. Joash Papali’i 19. Charlie Guymer
Reserves: 20. Apa Twidle 21. Ryley Smith 22. Saxon Pryke
Analysis: Parramatta play the next two bye rounds, before a bye in round 20 which is a full round of fixtures.
They face the Roosters in round 19, into the bye, into the Panthers.
Unfortunately the only somewhat relevant player right now, at a pinch, is Isaiah Iongi with a three round average of 85 points since returning from injury.
He did so with one try and two try-assists in those games, averaging 22 runs per game and four tacklebusts per game.
Despite the impressive scoring, there’s substantially higher upside fullbacks to target for the run home.
Embed from Getty ImagesRabbitohs: 1. Jye Gray 2. Alex Johnston 3. Latrell Siegwalt 4. Tallis Duncan 5. Edward Kosi 6. Cody Walker 7. Ashton Ward 8. Tevita Tatola 9. Brandon Smith 10. Keaon Koloamatangi 11. David Fifita 12. Euan Aitken 13. Cameron Murray
Bench: 14. Lachlan Hubner 15. Jamie Humphreys 16. Liam Le Blanc 17. John Radel 18. Jayden Sullivan 19. Dayne Jennings
Reserves: 20. Moala Graham-Taufa 21. Bronson Garlick 22. Thomas Fletcher
Analysis: South Sydney have finished their byes for the season and will begin to welcome back key players making them a team to target.
Unfortunately Latrell Mitchell isn’t one of those players after suffering a calf injury at training on Monday.
This is devastating news all round for the luckless Trell-Mit.
Pending severity, it may mean Supercoaches have at least two less trades to worry about for the run home should he fall out of relevance.
Alex Johnston was a player I was ultra keen on until this news.
I think he was a near must with Latrell Mitchell on deck, without him I think he’s just a decent buy at $718k.
He’s shown he can score very well with namesake Latrell Siegwalt, but it has been a mixed bag with scores of 124, 28, 53 and 113.
With a breakeven of 94 I’ll wait and reassess next week, with a close eye on scan results for Latrell Mitchell.
It does make Latrell Siegwalt super relevant at $398k with job security now strong along with goal-kicking duties.
David Fifita has been decent in two games back from injury with 72 points per game in 70 minutes per game, scoring in both fixtures.
His 36 in base across those games is poor, but he’s looked strong in attack.
He hasn’t set the world alight, but gee he looks hard to pass up at $556k with a breakeven of 47.
Embed from Getty ImagesTITANS v BULLDOGS
Friday, 6pm, Cbus Super Stadium, Gold Coast
Titans: 1. Keano Kini 2. Jaylan De Groot 3. Jojo Fifita 4. AJ Brimson 5. Phillip Sami 6. Jayden Campbell 7. Zane Harrison 8. Moeaki Fotuaika 9. Oliver Pascoe 10. Tino Fa’asuamaleaui 11. Arama Hau 12. Beau Fermor 13. Chris Randall
Bench: 14. Kurtis Morrin 15. Josh Patston 16. Klese Haas 17. Jett Liu 18. Sam Verrills 19. Lachlan Ilias
Reserves: 20. Dean Ieremia 21. Adam Christensen 22. Michael Molo
Analysis: The Titans lose a little relevance with no coverage of the third major bye in Round 18.
Sadly the Oliver Pascoe run may have come to an end, with hopes of him being a keeper in the reserve HOK position diminishing rapidly.
He played just 29 minutes for 31 points against Penrith before being subbed off for veteran rake Sam Verrills.
He’s $528k with a breakeven of 82 and will begin to plummet money if minutes aren’t there.
The Sharks are on the bye, but perhaps we just move straight to Blayke Brailey at $625k?
You could also wait and watch Pascoe’s minutes this week, then the Titans have a bye while Brailey is likely on Origin duty in Round 18, before making the move at a small price drop in Round 19.
That’s likely how I’ll attack the situation.
Jayden Campbell will earn dual 5/8-HFB positioning by that time and will be available at a tick under $700k for the run home.
Embed from Getty ImagesBulldogs: 1. Connor Tracey 2. Jacob Kiraz 3. Matt Burton 4. Enari Tuala 5. Jethro Rinakama 6. Stephen Crichton 7. Lachlan Galvin 8. Max King 9. Bailey Hayward 10. Leo Thompson 11. Josh Curran 12. Jaeman Salmon 13. Harry Hayes
Bench: 14. Kurt Mann 15. Lipoi Hopoi 16. Jack Underhill 17. Alekolasimi Jones 19. Bronson Xerri 20. Sean O’Sullivan
Reserves: 21. Jacob Preston 22. Logan Spinks 23. Jed Reardon
Analysis: The Bulldogs miss the third major bye round next week.
Despite returning to some form of late, there’s no real need to invest in any player until after the round 18 bye.
From there, Jacob Kiraz will loom as a near must pending fitness.
Let’s hope Lachy Galvin shifts to 5/8 next season so we can pick him there!
He’s averaging an excellent 72 points per game, but with the Dogs flat attack he’s not in the same league as Nathan Cleary or Nicho Hynes among others.
Matt Burton has been named at centre, with Stephen Crichton as per the game day shuffle in the win over Manly.
Jacob Preston has been named in reserves in his bid to return fro injured, while Sitili Tupouniua is out for two months with injury.

Friday, 8pm, Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane
Broncos: 1. Reece Walsh 2. Josiah Karapani 3. Kotoni Staggs 4. Grant Anderson 5. Jesse Arthars 6. Thomas Duffy 7. Ben Hunt 8. Preston Riki 9. Cory Paix 10. Payne Haas 11. Brendan Piakura 12. Jordan Riki 13. Xavier Willison
Bench: 14. Blake Mozer 15. Ben Talty 16. Aublix Tawha 17. Jack Gosiewski 18. Hayze Perham 19. Josh Rogers
Reserves: 20. Jaiyden Hunt 21. Kane Bradley 22. Va’a Semu
Analysis: Brisbane play the third major in Round 18, before missing Round 19 with a bye, into Penrith away in Round 20.
Further to this, they’ll lose Payne Haas and potentially Reece Walsh to Origin duties next week.
They’ve lost five-in-a-row which included recent games against the Titans and Dragons.
Xavier Willison has a three round average of 91 points including a monstrous 72 in base alone in that time!
He’s the only player worth considering this week, Walsh will be ripe for picking next week if he misses Origin selection, even then you’d be reluctant.
My suspicion is the Broncos may begin a run to finals post Penrith and have some relevance, but they’ve not shown enough to warrant investing in for now.
Embed from Getty ImagesRoosters: 1. James Tedesco 2. Billy Smith 3. Hugo Savala 4. Robert Toia 5. Mark Nawaqanitawase 6. Daly Cherry-Evans 7. Sam Walker 8. Naufahu Whyte 9. Reece Robson 10. Lindsay Collins 11. Nat Butcher 12. Siua Wong 13. Victor Radley
Bench: 14. Connor Watson 15. Spencer Leniu 16. Egan Butcher 17. Salesi Foketi 18. Rex Bassingthwaighte 19. Tommy Talau
Reserves: 20. Benaiah Ioelu 21. Toby Rodwell 22. Taylor Losalu
Analysis: The Roosters miss the major in Round 18, their final bye of the season.
After the bye next week they’ll loom as red-hot targets for the run home.
There’s only one player I’d consider buying this week and that’s Mark Nawaqanitawase.
Removing the 2 point game when injured in round 9 – that I owned for – Marky Mark boasts an average of 101 across his past six games.
Four of these six games were against top eight teams.

At $686k with a breakeven of 6 do you move now or wait until after Origin?
I don’t think it really matters, new owners could bank a big tonne, non-owners will prioritise round 18 coverage and pay extra afterwards for a tantalising Eels clash.
It probably comes down to how well your squad is set up for next week’s final major bye round.
If numbers are strong you can move early, if you’re light on maybe prioritise elsewhere for now.

Saturday, 3pm, Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane
Dolphins: 1. Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow 2. Jamayne Isaako 3. Jack Bostock 4. Herbie Farnworth 5. Selwyn Cobbo 6. Kodi Nikorima 7. Isaiya Katoa 8. Thomas Flegler 9. Jeremy Marshall-King 10. Francis Molo 11. Connelly Lemuelu 12. Kulikefu Finefeuiaki 13. Morgan Knowles
Bench: 14. Max Plath 15. Kurt Donoghoe 16. Ray Stone 17. Felise Kaufusi 18. Brad Schneider 19. Oryn Keeley
Reserves: 20. Tevita Naufahu 21. Brian Pouniu 22. Trai Fuller
Analysis: The Dolphins bye period also remains excellent, featuring in the final two bye rounds.
You just feel like this squad will pile on the points on the run home, with Supercoach targets everywhere.
Tevita Naufahu is a SC gun in waiting in this team, he just needs to lock down a regular spot which won’t happen in 2026 barring injury.
He has a three round average of 98 points, knocking out 60 in base and power against the Tigers.
He also averaged 74 points per game in his seven games last season.
Currently at $558k with a breakeven of 93 after playing 48 minutes off the bench post Origin, I feel Kulikefu Finefeuiaki could be a bargain at near $500k after Origin III.
I’ve spoken at nauseam about Herbie Farnworth who is a must for the remainder of his time in the NRL, and Jamayne Isaako who will have big tonnes on the run home and remains a good purchase.
Embed from Getty ImagesWarriors: 1. Taine Tuaupiki 2. Dallin Watene-Zelezniak 3. Ali Leiataua 4. Adam Pompey 5. Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad 6. Chanel Harris-Tavita 7. Te Maire Martin 8. Tanner Stowers-Smith 9. Wayde Egan 10. Mitchell Barnett 11. Jacob Laban 12. Kurt Capewell 13. Erin Clark
Bench: 14. Samuel Healey 15. Eddie Ieremia-Toeava 16. Demitric Vaimauga 17. Marata Niukore 18. Kayliss Fatialofa 20. Luke Metcalf
Reserves: 21. Makaia Tafua 22. Jye Linnane 23. Jason Seu Salalilo
Analysis: The Warriors miss the major in Round 18 which is their final bye of the season.
Jackson Ford is likely out long-term and is a sell for his masses of owners.
If he is out for an extended period, Mitch Barnett may be a sneaky little steal at $491k.
With game time in recent years he’s been a Supercoach beast, evidenced by 70 points against the Cowboys in 61 minutes that came exclusively in base and power.
With a breakeven of 40 into Origin there’s no need to move early, but he’s worth keeping an eye on this week.
Te Maire Martin’s century takes his season average to 83.4 points, pushing him 13 clear of Jake Clifford in second for the five-eighth position.
With the invaluable dual 5/8-HFB positioning he looms as a season keeper.
Embed from Getty ImagesCOWBOYS v PANTHERS
Saturday, 5:30pm, QCB Stadium, Townsville
Cowboys: 1. Scott Drinkwater 2. Braidon Burns 3. Zac Laybutt 4. Tomas Chester 5. Murray Taulagi 6. Jaxon Purdue 7. Jake Clifford 8. Thomas Mikaele 9. Reed Mahoney 10. Jason Taumalolo 11. Heilum Luki 12. Jeremiah Nanai 13. Reuben Cotter
Bench: 14. Soni Luke 15. Griffin Neame 16. Matthew Lodge 17. Coen Hess 18. Liam Sutton 19. Sam McIntyre
Reserves: 20. John Bateman 21. Jaxson Paulo 22. Ethan King
Analysis: The Cowboys miss the major in Round 18.
Facing Penrith this week off a loss, into the bye and then Manly at Brookvale Oval I wouldn’t consider investing here until later in the season when the draw opens up.
Tom Chester has hit a flat spot with recent scores of 29, 89 and 43.
If you’re light on trades you could easily hold him for the season with a healthy average of 67 points, but with so many high upside CTWs to target I just don’t know how often you’ll need to play him in your 18 each week.

At $597k with a breakeven of 87 there’s still value in the trade for now, but a low score against Penrith could see his price head south quickly. I think he’s a sell.
Heilum Luki is probably in the same boat as Chester, fine to hold long-term but there’s probably slightly better in the position.
For what it’s worth, Luki is more of a keeper than Chester in my eyes.
Braidon Burns has been excellent this season with a 72 point average, returning from a month out with 96 points against the Warriors in New Zealand.
Embed from Getty ImagesPanthers: 1. Dylan Edwards 2. Thomas Jenkins 3. Paul Alamoti 4. Izack Tago 5. Brian To’o 6. Blaize Talagi 7. Nathan Cleary 8. Moses Leota 9. Freddy Lussick 10. Lindsay Smith 11. Isaiah Papali’i 12. Liam Martin 13. Isaah Yeo
Bench: 14. Jack Cogger 15. Scott Sorensen 16. Liam Henry 17. Luke Garner 18. Billy Phillips 19. Billy Scott
Reserves: 20. Luron Patea 21. Jack Cole 22. Sione Fonua
Analysis: Penrith play the third major in Round 18, before missing Round 19 with a bye.
A near full-strength Penrith side coming off a loss against a defensively poor team is something Supercoaches can salivate over.
Tom Jenkins managed just 47 points against the Titans, but should make amends against an edge that conceded four tries to Charnze Nicholl-Klokstad last week that was inches from being five.
Dylan Edwards scored 74 in the loss, with owners hoping he repays the faith with some three digit scores over the next fortnight to stamp himself as a potential season keeper.
While still enticing, potential Origin selection is probably enough to stay away this week.
Isaiah Papali’i and Paul Alamoti remain strong pick-ups in my view.
Nathan Cleary is the obvious captaincy play this week.
Embed from Getty ImagesSEA EAGLES v STORM
Saturday, 7:35pm, 4 Pines Park, Sydney
Sea Eagles: 1. Tom Trbojevic 2. Jason Saab 3. Tolutau Koula 4. Josh Feledy 5. Lehi Hopoate 6. Luke Brooks 7. Jamal Fogarty 8. Taniela Paseka 9. Jake Simpkin 10. Ethan Bullemor 11. Haumole Olakau’atu 12. Ben Trbojevic 13. Jake Trbojevic
Bench: 14. Joey Walsh 15. Nathan Brown 16. Simione Laiafi 17. Aaron Schoupp 18. Blake Wilson 19. Jackson Shereb
Reserves: 20. Hugo Hart 21. Onitoni Large 22. Clayton Faulalo
Analysis: The Sea Eagles feature in the final two bye rounds giving them major relevance.
Popular trade in last week Haumole Olakau’atu went solid with 74 points.
With likely Origin duties looming next week, then potential fewer minutes post Origin on the Sunday back-up, interested buyers should get him at a discount in time at $809k with a breakeven of 108.
Tom Trbojevic looked decent on return from injury with 70 points, dropping $51k to $607k.
While Melbourne’s edge defence shouldn’t concern the star No.1 too much, the Battle of Brookie is typically a tough affair, particularly at night.
With a breakeven of 128, potential Origin looming and the continued risk of injury aggravation I’ll wait a week then grab next round against Parramatta if available.
At just $558k, Lehi Hopoate becomes very relevant with Turbo back on deck.
In his first two games in the FozBall era with Turbo he scored 95 and 67, before dropping 99 last week.
Proven Supercoach gun Reuben Garrick is averaging just 66 points this year and is a watch, although he is out this week.
Remove the three games to begin the year under Anthony Seibold which seemed a completely different Manly outfit, the outside back averages 73 for the year.
Garrick missed a conversion to begin the game against the Bulldogs, then Jamal Fogarty took over duties and missed his two attempts.
If Garrick was kicking full-time I’d be extremely interested.
Embed from Getty ImagesStorm: 1. Sualauvi Faalogo 2. William Warbrick 3. Jack Howarth 4. Joe Chan 5. Moses Leo 6. Cameron Munster 7. Tyran Wishart 8. Stefano Utoikamanu 9. Harry Grant 10. Josh King 11. Cooper Clarke 12. Ativalu Lisati 13. Trent Loiero
Bench: 14. Trent Toelau 15. Jack Hetherington 16. Josiah Pahulu 17. Alec MacDonald 18. Shawn Blore 19. Siulagi Tuimalatu-Brown
Reserves: 20. Davvy Moale 21. Stanley Huen 22. Angus Hinchey
Analysis: The Storm miss the major in Round 18, but have become a little more relevant having found some form throughout the Origin period.
A 139 point special sent Sua Fa’logo’s season average to 85 points.
At $690k, the 28% of non-owners coming into the round should strongly consider buying the little maestro back.
With a breakeven of 18 he will rise in cash before Melbourne’s bye, but if numbers are short for the next major bye incoming you could wait until after and pay a few extra pennies.
Following his 131 points against the Raiders, Will Warbrick has the lowest breakeven in the game at -44.
He also has seven scores of 40 or below this season.
Jahrome Hughes is out with a hamstring injury.
Embed from Getty ImagesRAIDERS v DRAGONS
Sunday, 2pm, GIO Stadium, Canberra
Raiders: 1. Kaeo Weekes 2. Savelio Tamale 3. Simi Sasagi 4. Matthew Timoko 5. Xavier Savage 6. Ethan Strange 7. Ethan Sanders 8. Corey Horsburgh 9. Owen Pattie 10. Joseph Tapine 11. Hudson Young 12. Zac Hosking 13. Jayden Brailey
Bench: 14. Tom Starling 15. Ata Mariota 16. Morgan Smithies 17. Sebastian Kris 18. Chevy Stewart 19. Jake Clydsdale
Reserves: 20. Coby Black 21. Jed Stuart 22. Vena Patuki-Case
Analysis: The Raiders miss the major in Round 18, and also Round 26 which is grand final week for most head-to-head leagues.
Following an excellent match-up with the Dragons this week, the Raiders will become fairly irrelevant.
Zac Hosking (52) and Joe Tapine (37) hit the skids after strong stints throughout the bye period, I suspect they’ll be prime players to upgrade in coming rounds.
Once they’re moved on, Hudson Young will be the only player of note in Canberra barring a major resurgence in form.
With an 85 point average he’s currently the No.1 ranked 2RF in the game and looms as a near must post Origin.
At $786k he won’t slot into teams easily though.
Simi Sasagi makes a much-needed return from injury for the Green Machine.
Embed from Getty ImagesDragons: 1. Clinton Gutherson 2. Setu Tu 3. Mathew Feagai 4. Valentine Holmes 5. Tyrell Sloan 6. Daniel Atkinson 7. Kyle Flanagan 8. Loko Jnr Pasifiki Tonga 9. Damien Cook 10. Toby Couchman 11. Dylan Egan 12. Hamish Stewart 13. Ryan Couchman
Bench: 14. Jacob Liddle 15. Emre Guler 16. Josh Kerr 17. Luciano Leilua 18. Jacob Halangahu 19. Nicholas Tsougranis
Reserves: 20. Lyhkan King-Togia 21. Hame Sele 22. Christian Tuipulotu
Analysis: The Dragons play the next major bye round giving them some relevance, however they’re still tough to target on current form.
Further, the third mini bye round post Origin tends to throw up a few curveballs.
For the 10th week running, you wouldn’t buy any player not named Couchman.
Ryan scored 90 on the weekend in pure base and power, made up of 53 tackles, 14 runs, two offloads and four tacklebreaks. Beast!
Brother Toby has regressed slightly with recent scores of 68 and 58 to sit at $687k with a breakeven of 110.
With no rush to sell Jackson Ford, that might be a nice trade next week at a cheaper price.
While I wouldn’t buy any non-Couchman, it doesn’t mean there aren’t players ticking along well.
In four games starting on the edge for 80 minutes, Hamish Stewart is averaging 75.25 points with 60.75 in base.
To get through that much work with the Couchman boys in the same team is impressive.
He’ll be a staple Supercoach player for years to come.
Embed from Getty ImagesKNIGHTS v TIGERS
Sunday, 4:05pm, McDonald Jones Stadium, Newcastle
Knights: 1. Kalyn Ponga 2. Dominic Young 3. Dane Gagai 4. Bradman Best 5. Greg Marzhew 6. Fletcher Sharpe 7. Dylan Brown 8. Jacob Saifiti 9. Phoenix Crossland 10. Trey Mooney 11. Dylan Lucas 12. Jermaine McEwen 13. Mathew Croker
Bench: 14. Sandon Smith 15. Tyson Frizell 16. Cody Hopwood 17. Thomas Cant 18. Lachlan Crouch 19. Fletcher Hunt
Reserves: 20. Francis Manuleleua 21. James Schiller 22. Harrison Graham
Analysis: The Knights play the remaining two bye rounds with an outstanding draw, making them major targets moving forward.
Games against the Tigers and Dolphins (without Origin players) at home couldn’t read too much better for Newy’s Supercoach contingent.
While they failed to really fire against the Dragons despite the win, I will say the Dragons controlled the game fairly well and gave the Knights very few attacking opportunities in their half after the early stages.
Fletcher Sharpe looked on track for a big score against the Dragons with an early double, but could only muster 74 points.
At an excellent rate of $607k I still like Dom Young with a season average of 68.6 points.
I think he’s the perfect fifth CTW for the run home to play on match-up for his extremely high ceiling.
Greg Marzhew dropped a whopping $91k last week to sit at $699k with a breakeven of 168.
Speaking of fifth CTWs to play on match-up, he’s also the perfect candidate.
Kalyn Ponga returns which is vital to his scoring.
Without KP in 2026 he averages 50.66 points.
With KP in 2026 he averages 98 points. This excludes the 28 minutes KP played in round 2, and is also inflated by the 208 against the Dragons.
Regardless, the difference is abundantly clear.
Embed from Getty ImagesTigers: 1. Jahream Bula 2. Sunia Turuva 3. Taylan May 4. Starford To’a 5. Jeral Skelton 6. Jarome Luai 7. Adam Doueihi 8. Terrell May 9. Apisai Koroisau 10. Fonua Pole 11. Tony Sukkar 12. Sione Fainu 13. Alex Twal
Bench: 14. Josese Lanyon 15. Bunty Afoa 16. Alex Seyfarth 17. Latu Fainu 18. Heamasi Makasini 19. Mavrik Geyer
Reserves: 20. Javon Andrews 21. Peter Taateo 22. Faaletino Tavana
Analysis: The Tigers bye period remains excellent, featuring in the final two bye rounds.
Popular cheapies last week Tony Sukkar and Sione Fainu delivered in 80 minutes each with scores of 66 and 80.
Sukkar delivered a huge 66 in base stats, Fainu scored a double without linebreaks, along with 48 in base of his own.
Both remain decent pick-ups with cash incoming and a quality extra number at the price for the Round 18 major bye.
Adam Doueihi returns from injury and will bode close watching this week.
